AMEN! This is so true! I always feel miserable and angry at myself when I feel like I charged too low for a gig vs. losing a gig because I charged/quoted too high. I'd rather lose a gig because I outpriced myself than getting a gig knowing that I could have gotten paid way more for that gig.

Yup! Once you low ball, it's hard to get back up. Charge the value that you're worth for the type if event it is, and if they Walk, they walk!

Cleveland is absolutely correct, I do Corporate gigs all the time and they pay well. I must say some of the gigs are long but worth the money. I Love Music/DJing. ✌🏽✊🏽🎧

This is a prime example of my phone listening to me. I was just having this convo the other day about charging for corporate gigs. The next thing I know... this video is on my feed. Great advice. Thank you!

Waow🤯 thank you for putting us on to game👊🏾, the corporate dj community would have never put us on to this This is for you brother 🏆💐🥇 you're the Most valuable Player #MVP I will keep this information in my back pocket 🤝🏽

Dang, I been thinking about it all wrong. I grew up without my dad and my mom is not a hustler at all. I am still learning the basics of knowing ones worth and putting pressure on people, I have a tendency to devalue myself. I charge too low and I volunteer to do extra work all the time. I grew up thinking being a hustler was ONLY being a hard worker, i wasnt ever taught how to put a price on that work. Weird too, I feel like a LOT of people are taught that way, passing down a poverty mindset. Thanks for the free game Cleveland. A lot of us are strong, we were just taught wrong.

Best informative and motivational video I’ve seen on this topic. DJ community in a whole needs this attitude because many DJs wound their own pockets by not charging their worth accordingly

Sometimes its the exact opposite. Target contacted me about doing a Christmas party and I low balled myself at $200 hr. They thought it was too high and hired somebody else. Great advice for those of us living in So Cal with the entertainment companies around here.

There is nothing wrong with the price you asked. That’s ridiculous.

I love the jewels you dropped fam! But no one is talking actual numbers. I'm new to the game and just got hit up be a BIG company to DJ an event. I've been charging $100 -$150 per hour. That's for birthday parties & weddings. I don't know what to say when she asks for my rate. Do I charge by the hour or give a flat rate? I wanna say 5k but I'm afraid it's too high and don't wanna miss my 1st opportunity at bagging a corporate giant.

I totally agree. I used to be a little timid when it came to Corporate pricing, but then I thought about it and started to charge more and they paid it. Now you do have to go in and kick ass at the gig, but this most definitely works team. Salute Cleveland for dropping the knowledge 👊🏿

Love this. Prices are not based on how much something is worth. They are based on how much someone will pay.

Liking the knowledge. Thank you. Question, how do you get the 'attention' of the 'corporate event managers, HR, Executives, Assistant Executives' who book 'Corporate Parties' in the 1st place? There seems to be so many options, such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Instagram, LinkedIn, Cold emailing, Visiting Hotels, Advertising in directories etc etc, surely there must be 'The One' which just stands out above the rest. Would love to hear your Wisdom on this and can imagine many of your community would too :) Many thanks, Gary

Interesting. Not all corporations are the same. 30+ years of doing corporate some companies you can get away with that and some DO have a budget for the entertainment (dj) so communication is key as to asking the right questions. Your advice in my experience may work or could backfire. 😉👊

But a Netflix budget is different from a small health clinic budget… so how do you determine where to start? I’m starting to get into the corporate world, but social events don’t pay nearly as much.
@ClevelandTerry
@ClevelandTerry 2 жыл бұрын
True, but You should still have a minimum number in your head. Start reasonable for the smaller events. I typically use my wedding brochure as a mental starting point. I don’t quote anything until they tell me what it is first.
