I've been living in Rome for 12 years. I am a black Cuban Puerto Rican from the Bronx. I went to university in Rome not intending to stay after school but I met the love of my life my second day on campus. He is a beautiful semi Mama's boy but so much more. There are shades of Latin Lover in him too but it's all for me😂 He's a sensitive, socially conscious intellectual with a great sense of humor. Luckily for me, his mother adores me and our 4 kids. Italy has been very good to me😄

I lived in Italy for 5 years, not in a big City like Rome and returned to the UK 24 years ago. Regarding your comment on Italian women being harder to get a date with, I found that many would hit on me hard. They were mostly too young, appx 18 to 25 years younger. Met them through work, or just waitresses or other diners in a restaurant etc. Could be asked to go out with them, or one tried to get physical despte having a boyfreind. There was one who wanted to meet up in the Uk, ( away from prying eyes, as she had a reputation to think of, and I figured out that as I wouldn't be feeding into the local gossip in these small communities where Mothers don't want thier sons to marry girls that have dated more than two men, a mature foreigner was seen as more discreet. It seemed that I could get a date without trying, whereas that could be more difficult for a local men closer to their age.

@@rohidnablayy6060 there is no italian men in NY, that's completely died out, you have to go to Italy, la mulatta Linda Martinez, in her case is quite different to due to the fact she's Latin American descent, her parents are from the Spanish speaking Caribbean, she understand her parent's culture and mentality and grew up with the culture, Italians tend to have that culture especially from southern region of italy, so understanding Italian custom and mentality is quite easy and adaptable for Latin Americans, So Romance, flirting and being touchy " not sexually" is very normal and that's Southern Europeans and Latin Americans are used to, I won't say if they like black girls or not, what am telling you the cultural differences, the cultural differences is what matters, not race.

It's all about what you're used to. In Italy we have a flirting culture, just like other latin countries (Spain, Portugal, partially France and most of South America's countries). This is something completely missing in the US, where I'm living now. From my italian point of view, american women lack of any ability to play a game of looks and thus to properly flirt. Flirting here is way less funny than in Italy, everything is mediated by smartphones. In Italy you can still starting to chat with a woman in a square during "aperitivo" and, if you're polite, it is not considered rude nor intrusive. Chatting in real life is much more stimulating and interesting than chatting through an app. That's a part of italian lifestyle that is completely missing here, enjoying hurban public areas chatting with friends and also with strangers (we can even drink alcohol in public areas!). We are outgoing person and, most importantly, we don't take ourselves too seriously. This latter is a thing that I've come to appreciate when I started living abroad. Enjoy italian lifestyle which is one of the best you can find!
@evamariesolanges48484 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I do agree that flirting in the US can be a bit stale and maybe even awkward at times. haha. But as an American, I have to say we're not all bad. I hope you can find someone who appreciates your flirting style!
@rasheed89304 жыл бұрын
@@evamariesolanges4848 I miss the "flirting milieu" but don't get me wrong, is not hard finding someone to date in the US. Here probably is even easier since, at least this is my perception, there are more single people. I guess what is weird for a foreigner is understanding that most of the times flirting is an end in itself, you approach a group of girls just to have fun in that evening. Even a pullback in front of your friends might be funny, is part of the game.

Oh God, I need to move to Rome immediately. As an American, I absolutely hate the fact that everything revolves around our devices. When I first moved to Boston 4 years ago, people would be sitting on the train completely engrossed in their phones. All I could think at the time was how it was a shame because they could be sitting next to the love of their lives and miss them completely because they were looking at their phones.

It's also this way in Brazil. What I experienced there crossed age barriers and was very sweetly innocent. I rather liked it Ra Sheed. Maybe you've tried to speak with the wrong females? or maybe what I experienced in Brasil style flirting, was not as "aggressive" as Evamarie Solanges has described in Italy?
@84Elenai3 жыл бұрын
Yes, some of these are stereotypes, but many are not. In general, and this doesn't apply to all men, they are old school, because our culture didn't change that much from the seventies/eighties. Men love beautiful women, so beauty is the first value they consider in their future partners here in Italy. Especially being overweight is not a good trait, voluptuous women are considered beautiful but if you are visibly overweight, Italians (young, old, men, women) will let you know you should "get into shape" every day, without being mean but... Well, you will notice it. Chivalry it's a thing here, and I didn't know it was such a big deal until I started to date British guys and almost got offended (my fault, I didn't know any better) when they let me buy drinks or dinner without even insisting. It's a weird thing but it is true! Nonetheless, they love women that are caring and nice, so buy your man a nice gift from time to time! When they are single, they date multiple people. Don't trust them until you had "the speech" about getting into a serious relationship, they know how to lie beautifully and they will, trust me! Most of them love to eat and they eat well, so if they have been living alone they definitely know how to cook. If they lived their entire life with their mama, they absolutely won't. So pay attention to these details at the beginning. No matter what, they expect their women to be good cooks and cleaners , they won't date messy women or disorganized ones (as I said, we have the culture of the seventies/eighties, it's changing a bit but slowly). They love to be fun, they want to be the joker in the group, and are also very, VERY sexual people. Some men take themselves too seriously but this trait is fading away in the last generations (just don't date picks in their forties). Well, I hope this helps! Have fun in Italy :D

When we had an argument, he told her everything later. I had to answer her like a schoolgirl, why I said what I said ecc. To be fair, at the beginning she was lovely to me. But everything changed over time. She has no life and like Diana famously said - there were 3 of us in the relationship. A bit too crowded. I dont mind a close relationship to your parents, thats wonderful. But a pathological close one without boundries...save yourself the heartache I went through and run.

African men are very much attached to their mothers umbilical cord to the very end. They also pay on dates, chase after women and many of them are Lotharios. For the player thing, it is probably true for most italians (but I would add for most men), but remember that every man is a player before meeting the right one. Btw, nice job acting like a man at the beginning, you really gave a male vibe. Yes the Italian boys love their mamas...BUt that is a good thing, they treat women well because of it.

Just to say that there are lot of shy italian men. they might be not get noticed because they are overshadowed by the others (signed a former shy man)

Mammone= The umbilical cord is still attached. Trust me I know, I'm from Italy. hahahaha Think of it this way: Mom is like the Virgin Mary, dad is like Joseph - he is there but not there. She is actually in charge and the Son is like baby Jesus. If you understand this, you understand il Mammone. hahahahah

I think many Italian men have a little bit of each sterotype you talked about in them, but at the same time I've never met the true stereotype of one category, it's all more "settled" and "manageable" LOL But then again, I married an American man :D

I like how women make content about italian men. Yet do you see italian men making videos about other women and how they are? Nope

just naturally charming, and they see flirting is fun that’s why you have to rely on their actions and not just their words ❤

i am born in another country but i have Italian roots. Alot of people tell me to not date Italian men because of them thebeing inmature and they will gaslight you. I hear a lot of Italian women say this all the time where i life, and they are controlling looking thru you're phone asking where you are going. they make a lot of women feel special not only you so i should be carefull. i don't life in intaly but i know sexism is rooted in Italian culture. I had some bad expiernces of them being very creepy but also a few good ones who where very sweet

I don’t even know how I ended up here :) but It’s true that our mothers are the most important woman in our lives 🙏🏼 🇮🇹 it’s them who taught us respect and love for the female gender. So to sum up: yes, we are jealous and love our women insanely (mother / wife / daughter) ! I love the American women swag / mentality though:) 👍

We are not in the middle age anymore... i am an italian girl , i am indipendent , if i want i can ask a guy out and when i hang out with friends or a potential partner we always split the bill. In Italy men and women are equal by law, the majority of italians girls want a man who respect her as an equal ,help around the house and in childraising. Our dating culture is different than in the USA.
@MoonLightOnWater13 жыл бұрын
@@francescaimpieri6291 Understood.....I’m an American woman and financially independent too for many decades (just got re-married in 2019). This has nothing to do with independence (for me) it has to do with the typical mating practices of mammals (and we ARE mammals)...and sure, we can intellectualize this all day long, but I’m not asking any man (if I were still single) to date or marry me PERIOD!

Spot on. I would say this is also true for Italian-American guys within the general spectrum just like the Italian guys straight from Italy (e.g. momma-boy stereotype, though I personally live independently from my mom we are still very close).
