Great video Paul!! Wow, talk about a flashback, I used to talk to Ron on his message boards back in the late 90's, extremely knowledgeable and good man, definitely deserved the title of Woodsmaster. I had all of his videos on ...wait for it...VHS lol!! Man I wore those videos out!! I used to play awake at night and just drool over his hunting frock that he wore lol. I even ordered his knife from Tops The Anaconda an amazing piece for sure. I was so saddened by his passing, He and Karen his wife were truly amazing people and top tier instructors. R.I.P. Ron.

Look at the stuff carried by the early settlers from the 1700/1800's and you will find much of the same "10 C's" that we carry today.

Finally someone on KZbin who prefers the bandana over the shamog (sorry about spelling) I feel like those became popular after the soldiers came back from the Middle East post 2003. Never even heard of one before that. I couldn’t agree more, to me ppl wear them more because they saw their fav KZbinr wearing it. I’ve carried a folded up bandana in my back pocket for 20 years, it’s just part of my edc. To each their own, but I appreciate your take on things pertaining to the 10 c’s.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either. For desert or arid environments, they may work. But in the woods not so much, just my opinion.

Otis the Iceman had the 10C. He knew how to carry hot coals from one place to another. He lived 5000 yrs ago. He made history x2 with the copper axe. During the Stone Age, copper axe didn't existed but he had one. Nobody invented anything, just the techniques were forgotten and rediscovered

14:10 ..Freezer tape I've found works well for the colder temperatures but you have to double up on it because it's not as strong as the heavier duck tap brands

I agree on the shamog or however you spell it. Lol. What I did was I put mine in the washer and dryer a few times on high heat. That brought the material together so it's not loose anymore. I mainly use it as a makeshift sniper veil now.

I too have and use Bigass bandana’s. Been using them for years. Shamdana: Opossum Pouch Soft Goods ; Jay Hercules. Great company.

Shur tape is for hvac super strong way better than gorilla is used all year for hvac install, line set etc the one I've used is the p628 it's pricey company supplies it the shurtape Ls 300 may be as good with uv protection

I'm loving this recent slate of videos you've put out; great stuff. I'm actually going to be up in Wisconsin next month, traveling for work. Is there anything Wisconsinly you recommend as a have to see, have to do, have to eat while I'm up your way?

Depends on what part of the state? But lots of great hiking, if you've never tried it Culver's... but be warned. You are gonna need to work it off lol

@@adaptablesurvival Maaaaan, I love some Culver's. I'm in Virginia myself, but when I travel south down Florida way I always stop and get a butter burger and some custard. I'll be in Cedarburg, which is on the western side of Lake Michigan an hour due north of Chiraq.

@ColdHarborOP oh yeah, Cedarburg is cool. I love hitting the antique shop there. Stilt House Gastro Bar and there's a place that sells crepes that is pretty good there.

I’ve seen tape that is used on the highway where construction is going on and that seems to be really good. I don’t know how to go about getting some but I’m sure it’s not going to be cheap.

What would Cowboys and Country Hobos carry? My three gears philosophy on tools never failed me, redundancy is key. Mini, minor, major is what works and compliment the ten C’s of survival.

No matter if I have duct tape or not, I always carry some mechanics bandage, AKA electrical tape. Just gotta remember to get the good stuff, and take at least 2 rolls. I've also found that 3m duct tape is better than gorilla tape. As far as deviating from the 10Cs, I almost never carry a compass. I learned long ago many other ways to figure out where I am going. Rarely carry paracord, usually have some binder twine, bankline, jute and nylon rope if I want something heavier. Bic manufactures my ferro rods. Rarely carry a saw, and when I do it's a 21in bow saw; usually have 2 axes tho. 5 different folding multitools in my EDC; pocket folders w different style blades, including a pliers type with a flashlite. My hat has LEDs built in. My dog is learning to carry her own stuff, which includes an emergency Altoids tin clone, made from a geometry set box: she's pretty good at catching Squirrels and rabbits to feed herself. To feed myself I carry a Hobo Reel made from a broken Maglite clone: with a bowstring inside. I've been carrying this stuff since David was a kid.

Ok Paul I just got back to it. I have in the past built my packs on the 5 Cs with a few items I add and a few of the second set of 5 items in the 10cs. Thanks for the video.
