Thousands of small retail shops living their daily lives are destroyed due to heavy competition from Dmart. I have seen shopkeepers are struggling now to lead their daily lives as the distributors just gives 10 % margins but same products will be given at 30 to 40% margins to Dmart.

One more reason, D Mart does not offer door delivery. Majority of traditional Indian consumers prefer to feel the product before buying. But everybody does not have their own transport (like own car) to carry them home. So they restrict their purchases to quantities they can carry themself. Where I wish to make purchases of 5000 Rs, I restrict them to only essential ones. This is more true in NCR areas or where there is parking problems. I think D Mart should really rethink on door delivery of items purchased in store, may be at extra cost.

DMart is still doing good. It will last longer than others because it doesn't have unnecessary overheads like rent and costly interiors. It is having own stores so even of they close DMart they have asset valued crores.

20-30% discount only on , unsold items which u hv buy in huge qty .. Lux retail price 36 rs , it's not even sold for 33 rs , Maggie 15 rs packet is not sold for 10 rs ... First u hv to understand whatever is available in big malls is not available in small qty , when u visit the super bazar u buy things in qty which go waste , not completely used in our houses... Try this excersize , buy all ur needed items from small shop near ur house , take account of at the end of the month , Next time buy the same items from super bazar , do the maths b compare.... What u saved is lost in transport, hotel bills , parking charges , traffic fines etc .. U won't even save 10% of ur monthly bill by purchasing in dmart....
