Over 20 years ago we were taught that the efile was BAAAAD! ..we were taught it was a big No No. How WRONG they were! When used properly with knowledge and safety, it is a LIFESAVER.. Honestly, I wouldn’t even want to do nails without one now. Great topic YN ❤👌🏾

Ok so first I love this video! Second I was taught efiles were bad back in the day!! I have started using an efile only since gel polish came into play. But that being said I have found that the actual art of placing the acrylic, hard gel, or whichever product you choose to use has been lost . I see a lot of nail techs that just put so much product on and use the efile to Tahoe it off. Honestly I was taught to apply the product so precisely that I hardly have to file anything at the end of my sets or fills. All that product is wasted and that costs you money!!! Greg has it down to a science!!!

Doing a fill with hard gel with only a hand file was much more work then a new set. It took forever. I trained 20 years ago back when the efile was considered a terrible thing and was taught that efile were bad. So much has changed, thankfully. Thanks for your contribution to that

My husband (who actually IS a carpenter by trade) would laugh his butt off at anyone who tried to tell him to not use the correct tools to make his jobs easier. As a licensed cosmetologist who does nails all day, I can't understand anyone who expects us to do anything less. Efiles save our body, and that's the only way to prolong our careers. Thanks for all the great info and education YN!

In the schools, students have been scared 💩-less about the dreaded ring of fire and have been given improper training on efile use or which bit to use for what and the appropriate speed to use it at. It comes back to a lot of the same educators at those schools also not having had continued education or being thrown into a nail class because they have a full cosmetology license, but know virtually nothing about nail’s except what they read in the Milady Standard textbook. Here’s a great exercise: Go get some brown eggs and practice filing the brown color off the shell. This teaches both pressure and angle. Use a zebra band at 4000 rpm. At the current price of eggs, you will get the hang of it really quickly!🤣

Kelley in school we couldn’t use efiles on clients but we could use them on each other..We Only Learned The Milady Taught us in 2021-2022

@@KimDNailz The educators at many schools are sadly lacking in the skills and knowledge needed to teach nail technology. This includes the safe use of an electric file. Many of us graduate, earn our licenses and then pay 💩loads of additional money to acquire the skills to become quality nail technicians. That little exercise with the egg I mentioned above will jump start any enthusiast who wants to learn how to safely use an efile without injury to their own nails, by teaching them angle and pressure needed. Believe me, a little raw egg on your hands is less painful than a burn or cut from an improperly used machine 🤣❤️

I am unlearning to learn the new way. Licensed in the 80s, won nail competitions without e-files and was sounding like your "voices" Now I'm learning how to use an e-file. I'm loving it and yes I was recently diagnosed with carpal tunnel!! Listen to these gentlemen

Great topic! So many people think the e-file is baaaaddd. There is definitely a learning curve, I did LOTS of damage to my own nails when I first started with the e-file. It's very easy to overfile the natural nail.

I've had much better technique with my e-file and hand files. I love the advice about techniques, I have an easier time and smoother sets since trying to adapt these techniques.
