Probably ceramic pickups. But the Fesley’s seem like an ideal modding platform.

Great review. Unfortunately I have fallen into the brand name trap and I’ve spent a small fortune on my instruments. I’ve tried a friend’s off-shore guitar and was absolutely blown away by its playability and looks. I would admit to wanting to swap out the pickups….like I did on my $3500 Les Paul…. Great review!

No shame either way! Brand name guitars are great too. You do you 🙏

You should have no calluses on your fingers, unless you just like hard to play guitars. Its in the action setup. Low action and lighter strings. I use nines. I cant get blisters or calluses once I set them up. And play for hours.

Back in the day a popular beginner guitar was put out by a company called Bentley. all the ones I saw were acoustics of course laminated, and the strings were always heavy and the height was always disgustingly high. I know I sound like an old timer, because I am, but maybe this served as a test. If you REALLY wanted to learn to play guitar this is your basic training, like going into a hardcore branch of the military. If you were able to learn the basics on one of those shitty guitars and there was tons out there then you eventually "earned" the right to flash a more quality guitar which was followed by the step into electrics with amps loud enough to get over a drum set, because the inevitable next step was getting into a band. I started with an off brand classical which wasn't great either, but despite having a fat classical neck and wide fretboard, at least the strings were nylon. Even when I got my first electric my guitar teacher recommended medium gauge strings starting at .014's on the high E string. This did strengthen my fingers and since I was using an old school at the time semi hollow body (also a suggestion of my guitar instructor) I was able to get some really nice deep feedback that really added to my sound. I eventually went to a solid body with lighter strings, never liked ultra light (I play through my PC- Guitar Rig is always fun, nice recorder built in), but I had played my share of LP's and other flavors of Gibson and Fender type designs. I hope most all of you reading this always keep your passion for playing and my only advice is look to branch out, if you play guitar, try going to bass for a while and see where that goes, or keys, drums whatever. I got into keyboards later in life, but I wish I started earlier. I say if you really love guitar leave that as your core, but use the other instrumental skills to accentuate you guitar playing giving you deeper understanding of it's role in the mix with other instruments. It also adds a fresh perspective on playing guitar realizing both all its' limitations (intonation/tuning can be called out from time to time), as well as it's strengths (the purr of a humbucker equipped guitar for instance on the edge of both breakup and feedback CANNOT be duplicated in sound as well as the feel it gives to a player experiencing it, I know there are a good share of players out there who could easily agree) and things it can do that other instruments can't in that frequency range as both a lead and rhythm instrument, many times interchanging between the two on the fly. Sorry for rambling, I always loved hearing the old timers when I was younger talking about the old days. I guess now it's my turn. Peace

2 to 2.5 mm is quite high action to me. I guess that if you went for a more comfortable 1.5 mm on the bass side you would get buzz and fretting out all over the board, as the fret job is where the time and money is.

2mm on the low e is high?!?! You've got some LOW action bro

with my negative experience with the LTD 256 (two of them with frets that needed a lot of work, crappy pickups) at a 599 price tag... id rather go much cheaper for something like this.

I love cheap guitars. Good cheap guitars are somehow more fun than expensive ones. My Korean Ibanez AR200 is very solid, as is my cheap AF Squier CV Strat, both bought for under $300, both play about as well as USA Gibsons and Fenders. In the case of the CV Strat, I like it better than both of my USA Fenders.

I knew that Fesley guitars are made in China, but I’ve heard that the factory also makes Fender instruments, most likely Squier.
@stevenkambach3 ай бұрын
That is what they told me. I have no idea what that means in reality and I didn't think it was important so I never mentioned it. I bet a ton of brands of guitars are made in the same factory

From what I've caught from other videos, Fesley is made in the same building as Fender over there. So...... to my sneaky mind, that means it's probably the same people that are building the Chinese (Squire) Fenders.
@stevenkambachАй бұрын
Probably. They suggested I include that fact in my content, but I didn't feel like that was really important. If it's good, it's good, regardless of where it is made 👍

And I got to say that the budget guitars that I own most play better than the more expensive ones .not everyone can afford the big name brands and to be honest some of the Gibson lps and fender starts aren't that great.

This isn’t the brave stand that he’s painting the video to be lol Most of these off brand guitars today are excellent value for the money. KZbin is flooded with people like this producing infomercials. The guitar companies get very cheap marketing by sending out gear, the infomercial KZbinr gets free gear- win win.
