If sports leagues made it as easy to watch sports as they do for gambling on them they wouldn't have this problem. Take down the paywalls and make it easy and cheap. The audience is there
@paulmclaren1855Ай бұрын
make it cheaper to watch, grow audience numbers to increase sponsor rights values...and in turn increase revenue...
@Pioneerfan12Ай бұрын
More viewership will not cause subscription prices to go down. These US sports leagues are all monopolies of their associated sport and have complete centralized control. For example, despite record breaking revenues each year for the NFL, it has never been more expensive to watch or attend an NFL game. Easier said than done, but piracy will not go away until sports leagues find a way to package value at an affordable rate. Especially with everyday working class fans struggling with inflation.

If they stop blackouts on their official services, then I won't have to pirate the games I watch. It's that simple for me.

I can't watch my local baseball and basketball teams anymore because they're behind a paywall. I can't afford to go to any of their games, either. So I guess I'm not a sports fan anymore, I can find cheaper entertainment.

wrong logic, if less viewers then prices will go down (less profit for owners and smaller salaries for players)

Not surprised about LeBron, there’s a famous story he wouldn’t pay for international roaming when in Canada playing the Raptors.

The market always speaks in the end. As long as salaries for athletes keep going up, the prices will go up. The question becomes: what are the masses willing to pay to be entertained?

I’m all about the leagues making money but I object to having to have Prime, Peacock, ESPN+ and an antenna just to follow my NFL team, over the course of a season. The NFL did this to itself.

Maybe they should just make it affordable and easy to watch? Just an idea. These leagues already have billions or trillions of dollars, and are making it harder and harder to watch over time meanwhile many of us are struggling.

The NFL is available on local airwaves via a $20 antenna so I use that plus my Prime subscription I already pay for and I get a majority of the NFL free since I'm in my local teams market and I get all of the big games. I live outside of my NBA team's region so I have NBA league pass. I'm a huge Orioles fan though and I can't get MASN outside of paying a fuck ton of money in cable, so I illegally stream that all the time. I'd pay like $15-20 a month for MASN it has not just baseball, but some other stuff I like for instance University of Richmond basketball and football games broadcast on it. RSNs need to evolve or they'll die

6:30 I’m never sympathizing with Dana on this issue. $100 PPV without a subscription to ESPN +, 5 fights a card where you’re never guaranteed a good fight, and the lack of pay mid tier fighters. Fans are not paying $80-$100 for PPV if they can’t afford groceries.

They don’t give a shit, except for Dana but they can’t do anything about it and count the viewers when selling ads…

Players make over 10mil per year let alone 60mil is pure greed
@hannahvickery46833 күн бұрын
it's practically impossible to legally watch the games you want to watch for a fair price - ESPN+, NFL network, etc don't help, because a game will end up on the SEC network which requires a totally different subscription. Total madness.
@hannahvickery46833 күн бұрын
"There isn't a solution to this problem" --- Yes, there is. Provide a better product for a better price. This year, I got back into NFL and ACTIVELY WANTED to pay to watch games, but the options were abysmal.
@ihatepie26305 күн бұрын
The problem is not piracy, the problem is the service. Fix the service, offer it to the consumer at a reasonable price, and the consumer will stop pirating. Gabe Newell said it best: Piracy is an issue of service, not price. Stop black out dates, stop multiple services, treat the consumer fair, and watch everyone return and the money poor in.

Professional sport is widely known to be a weapon of mass control.. It performs fantastically at distraction also. The idea of giving them any of my hard earned is simply ridiculous.
@abuibuАй бұрын
These leagues should be grateful more people can watch their product, root for a team and maybe buy merch or even just engaging on their social media accounts and seeing the ads during games all increases their bottom line.

if sports broadcasts get the number of viewers they want or more at the price they currently market it, they will STILL raise the price stating customers will pay for it. It's not anyones fault but their own greed. Lower the price of these subscriptions or keep the endless loop going.
@dennisp362Ай бұрын
What needs to change is prices to watch season should be cheaper. Ppv events need to go down to 10 bucks.

$500 to watch NFL or pay IPTV $20/month for everything? $100-150, or $20 for a specific game and I would have no problem. At the height of my TV subscriptions for Sunday Ticket and DirecTV with other streaming services was well over $300/month, it just wasn't worth the overall cost.

I don't hear you talking about all the Taxpayer money that goes to Owners of the teams for Stadiums. Taxpayers are told by the politician that we will benefit when we give tax breaks. Funny how the savings never make it to the taxpayers. Greedy "Sports industrial Complex" is now learning that Viewers have had enough, after the Lock downs peeps have learned what they can live w/o that we only need the "essential" things. Sports is not one of them. 🤣
