@@shawnarichmond2585 you're right and I seen it first hand...I was in a bar the night it was "rescued" and the producers of the show told us how to react and that there would be yelling but to continue to act normal. They also told us when Jon was gonna walk in and that the food is safe to eat but they will make it seem like it's not. Still like the show though...also employees were told to act a certain way with certain antics.

In the bar business nobody is more caring about the owners succeeding then Jon Taffer. He immediately turns his attention on the family and who the drunken owner destroys in the process. Jon not only rescues the bar - he shows a genuine concern for ALL workers involved.
@dubbs8294
@dubbs8294 5 жыл бұрын
uhhhmmmm did you see the video. i don't think jon really cares about the bars he's rescuing. all an act for the cameras. as soon as he leaves he doesn't care what happens to them. i don't think he wants their downfall either, but if they succeed he's like cool, if they fail he's like ohh well. this doesn't make him a good or bad person. just what it is.

@@gavinr9356 yeah, you can't say it's not going to bring more viewers. you don't know. second if all you show is tapper yelling without some type of heart behind the yelling than tapper comes off as just an asshole. by him acting like he cares, it humanizes him. now you say, yeah he's an asshole but he cares. lastly i personally like to watch the transformation of the bars. so no, not everyone watches it for the yelling. plus again most of these scenes are acted out. all reality t.v. does it.

About the yelling, these Rescue shows usually run along a standard formula in that the Rescuer has only five business days to fix the problems. That's really not a lot of time, there's no time to hold the rescues hand and tell them everything is going to be alright. This is Boot Camp, truth is blunt and changes are radical, and you have to be loud to get them to see they need to see
@maxmustermann-zx9yq
@maxmustermann-zx9yq 3 жыл бұрын
lol it's scripted "reality" TV, every episode has some kind of easily unlikeable 2-dimensional "bad guy", him yelling at that guy bc that's what the viewer would want to do, and of course a cliche happy ending

@omnipotentpumpkin9755 3 жыл бұрын
They get five days of shooting footage but they get several months of preparation and as Abraham Lincoln once said "If you give me six hours to chop down a tree, I will spend four hours sharpening the axe". The concept and idea for this show could have been in development for decades before it was greenlit.

I never drank alcohol and barely ever been in a bar, but I learned a lot from Taffer. I learned first off that you have to respect yourself. I learned you have to want things. Going at it with a ho hum attitude and expecting things to work out, usually won't. If they do, it won't be for long. But most importantly, it's own up to your failures.

It's widely known, the bar-club-pub industry has a lot of fraud, waste, abuse. It's easy to steal booze or over charge drunk patrons, then steal tips.
@Terrakinetic

That sounds like an employees' amenities pool, considering it was a measly $100.00. But if they were really stealing that everyday, it does adds up to $3000.00 a month, which is an X% raise for all the employees behind the boss' back. I'd say that is a situation that calls for more context before passing judgment. The way Mashed framed it, It does sound more like Taffer sold out all his co-workers to get a better position than him being some kind of righteous ethical worker.

I know it wouldn’t make great TV, but it would be interesting to see him go into a decently run bar and provide his consultation. He’s taking crap and attempting to keep it alive. It would be interesting to see him make recommendations to make a good bar even better.

Tough business, and I speak from experience during the 80's in NY and CA. Today it's even worse, better to try something else to invest your hard earned cash in.

It's true about the yelling if you saw his Pilot...which didn't air until after several seasons...he wasn't as belligerent and he couldn't get the guy motivated ...well not until he yelled at him...it was astonishing!!!

From that and with time he learned that anger with a directed purpose can be motivational, which is why his anger often seems staged because it is deliberate and controlled at disgusting/unlawful/criminal actions.
