Exactly!!! My mom was in the Marines where she met my dad who was also a Marine, but it's still hard for her to understand from a civilian point of view. Communication with a grunt is so frustrating, especially when you're not married because you're not priority like meditate family (100% understandable). I miss my boyfriend everyday, especially like Ii said- we had a routine and talked everyday, but now it's practically nothing. I'm a worrier anyway, but the military life of a girlfriend is filled with anxiety. I know I'm ranting right now but your video was definitely something I needed to hear. Everyone goes through it but no one talks about it or explains. It's so hard to know what's normal for military and not letting insecurities get in the way.
@HannahMadison5 жыл бұрын
Nicole Castilleja yes! I think that’s the cool part about sharing what you go through, especially when no one else is talking about it! It’s so easy to feel alone and like you’re the only one who’s gone through/is going through it.

I’ve been feeling so emotionally distant with my marine boyfriend…it’s been making me so sad recently. Even though we call, I just don’t feel like we have stuff to say to each other anymore. We’ve been dating for 5 months and he’s been closing himself off emotionally more than before. It makes me feel as if I’m the problem even though I know I’m not. I want to be there for him but there’s so much I can say since that’s all I can do in long distance. Some days I wonder if all the tears is worth the relationship… I love him but I feel like I don’t even know him sometimes. Sometimes I wonder if I miss him or if I just miss the moments I’ve had with him.

It is very normal that sometimes they don’t reply to messages becausee they are busy with life, work and school. I am in a relationship with a marine for more than a year there are times you wanted to give up. And you feel insecure and i always break up with him. But in reality they are just to busy. He said that it won’t be easy and it will be to tough to be in this relationship. And i am still learning . Keep your self busy, and when he is available make time. That’s all you can do. And just believe in your man. And make yourself productive and achieve your own goals. Support him all through out..

Hey girl ! I love your videos. My boyfriend left for boot camp on Jan 6th, less than 4 weeks til the crucible! We're doing really great with communicating through letters. I honestly didn't think I would be able to do long distant, but maybe it's because I'm used to not being with someone all the time? Idk if that sounds bad or not lol. I do have a question though. Do they get to pick their MOS? And also if the graduation is in the All Weather Facility, only immediate family is allowed, correct? (If the weather is bad) Thanks for these videos! Lots of information and definitely taking notes!! :)
@HannahMadison4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the immediate family only if the weather is bad. If you are on a facebook page I would ask the questions, there are usually a few people with lots of experience that can help! I think that reservists usually get to pick their MOS but I am not sure if active duty gets to pick their MOS? I think sometimes they have an idea of what they will do but I kind of feel like they end up getting told what they are going to be doing. I would also ask that question on a FB page :)

Are they able to have their phones with them and when are they able to call if they don’t have their personal phone ?
@HannahMadison4 жыл бұрын
Depends on what phase of training. Bootcamp is no communication minus letters, MCT they might get their phone. Then after that they generally have access to person phones ☺️

Hannah Madison -He is going into the marines. I heard they get to make one call to their family to say they made it safe ?
@HannahMadison4 жыл бұрын
They do when they arrive but it’s a scripted call. Other than that they may have the chance to win a call home but it’s rare. After the crucible they also may choose to buy a phone and be able to call on the days when they have Liberty

My boyfriend just left today for boot camp and is going active duty later. Im just really struggling grasping the idea that I won't be able to talk to him for so long. If anyone has any tips or words of advice or affirmation it would be greatly appreciated.

It isn’t going to be super easy and especially the beginning is such an adjustment! My best advice would be to stay as busy as you can and create goals for yourself to learn new things/accomplish certain things so that you have something you’re personally able to be working on too! If you can find community and support with others who can relate, that helps too!

My boyfriend left on the tenth of January. We were already long distance before he left, but I still found it extremely hard and cried so much especially on the first and second nights. After that I didn’t cry as much, and I write him a letter every day, that really seems to help. He’s going to the Marines, so he’ll be gone for 13 Weeks for Boot Camp, and an additional two weeks for quarantine that I can’t talk to him.

I also have a question how is it like with the communication like ?do they let your boyfriend call u when he is free ?or u write letter ?and how is like vacation time? when he comes to see u because my boyfriend is gonna stay in the military for 25 years plzz get back to me when u can it will really help me
@HannahMadison3 жыл бұрын
During bootcamp you can only communicate through letters. When they’re in training they usually get their cell phones and can call or text when they have free time. I think for the marines they get 2.5 days of leave a month so they can save it up and use like 14 days at a time or something like that, I’m not positive though.

@@zizatolyn7704 it's ok , i too face same thing sometimes, actually some countries have some rules , like free face calling not allowed, even voice calls , network issues main thing , if u r sure about ure relationship , then wait 😊 , it too happened sometimes with me , and for week that we can't contact, and sometimes message takes 2-3 hrs to send , so it's normal , I'll just say busy ureself in some stuff have some hobbies . Take care
