Hi Lauren! Great channel. About reefing: I learned to sail when I was 8. Now, more than 60 years later, I can always tell if it's time to take a reef. It's when I'm thinking of it…

You reached and surpassed 100,000 subs for a very simple reason. You. You are honest, sweet, humble, modest and you don't put on airs. The closest I have come to a sail boat is a cruise ship but I subscribed for the reasons I mentioned. Your videos are a pleasure to watch.

I have been following you for some time now and all of your videos are interesting. Thank you for taking the time to do a posting each day when you are on a passage. They are very interesting. As many folks have previously commented you are quite an inspiration. Love your attitude and enthusiasm. It is amazing that you are able to approach all of your activities with such enthusiasm giving you are alone and c ompletely dependant upon yourself. You ae amazing. I am planning on leaving Santa Cruz CA some time next year with my Cabo Rico. Going to go thru the canal and to Mayaguana in the Bahamas as I lived on that island for 3 years and have many friends there. Great diving. You passed right by it. Keep up the good work and continue to enjoy.

Okay idk if you'll see this or not, you're so hardcore. You are so humble. You're out sailing crosses or passages, at night, alone. And you just laugh it off. Man I'm telling you I am so extremely, deeply, impressed!! Like what you're doing with a boat blows my mind! Straight up! I can honestly hardly believe it. But there you are. I'm just shaking my head. What you are doing with that boat is extremely impressive. Straight up! And looking fine as heyell the whole time. I'd be too scared to ride along. Especially without lights?!?? You Are A Trooper!!

POLARS! Best thing I ever learned for sailing fast. Get a set of polar charts for your boat, if you can. If not, you may still be able to web a polar chart "estimator" on the web, that runs in Excel. Almost everyone is surprised at the fastest angles to sail and doubly surprised at how low some of the reefing points are, because a boat that is heeled just a little too far, is a slow boat. (Water on the rails is fun--but not fast!) If you hang with any serious racers, they all live and die by the polars. Glad you had an uneventful passage, the US is getting a serious look at hurricane season already. 107,000 subscribers now!

Up to 109k and it's our pleasure ..honor in a way to be able to join you in something you love to do and do so very well. I wish more systems worked better for you out there on the high seas like running lights and radar... Ohhh Lauren.. no one wants you taking too many chances. Enough of that said.. It is a very enriching thing for me to feel like I'm sailing out beyond the sight of land too.. exciting...I've done a bit of sailing but not much out of sight of land... It must be wonderful to not see land for days. like you and Mako are riding on an albatross exploring the endless sparkled sea . EnJoy and get some rest after your 5 day sail. Thanks again.😊

It is we who are thanking you for taking us along. Watching you do your exercises makes all my joints hurt. I'm glad you were able to leave the Bahamas for a while. You did some blue water sailing. You are learning that it's not just put the sails up and go. Tides, currents, prevailing wind patterns, forecast surface winds and weather. Fun, isn't it? You seem more relaxed and happier. It shows on your face. Mako is noticing it too. (Pease give him a goodie from all of his virtual friends.) You are in our thoughts and prayers. Fair winds and following seas...

Lauren, I admire your courage. i would like to offer some suggestions on your electrical repair tools and components. you need the following Automatic Self-adjusting electrical Wire Stripper Tool, water proof 3:1 Ratio Adhesive Lined, Marine Grade Shrink Wrap kit and a Soldering Iron. A Self-adjusting electrical Wire Stripper makes things a lot easier in cramped areas. it appears that the Shrink wrap was not Marine Grade Shrink Wrap - Water proof is crucial. also solder everything - you guarantee good contact and a permanent connection (or until you unsolder it . all these are available Amazon - for under $45. short circuits and poor connections are a real pain. poor connections can get hot and cause fired. best of luck!!! I hope you hit 1M subscribers soon!

If all goes well I just might see you in the Bahamas. Ive been on lake Erie for too many years. Its time to venture out into the big blue. And dont let the little glitches get you down. Boats are like children, they always require our attention. And sometimes they get a bit cranky. But you love them and care for them and in return you find happiness. If it was always smooth sailing we'd get jaded. Ill be pulling out on the east side of the island and heading straight for the warm waters of the Bahamas. Time to get the years of winters out of my bones! Fair skys and steady winds Lauren.

Auto Pilot-----check around your compass sensor for your auto pilot. When loading and provisioning for a trip it is easy to locate something metal or magnetic near the sensor. This us usually the case when auto pilot favors port or starboard. If there is cable enough relocate the sensor to a better place or even higher and outside the cabin to see if it makes a difference. If it does you have found your problem.

I really love those drinking villages with a fishing problem!😅 Love the videos, so keep them coming. Oh, about single handing. I heard about this camera system that is out there somewhere. But anyways it watches the ocean to see objects and it alarms you about objects. I heard it was made to warn people about nets. But I was thinking that if it can see nets than it can see other objects. So that way if you were going to go to sleep it would keep watch for you. If I was you I would look into this. When I get my sailboat I most definitely will look into this product. OK I'll see you next week. Ta ta!😊

Hi Lauren now that I have caught up on all your posts, I'm able to follow more closely and hear the problems you get. Most yachties who are using Starlink, and due to Starlink policy of not allowing RV connection at sea, Have move to FMC Global who offer numerous packages, plus are cheaper than Starlink offer. Channels that I have been following are Parlay Revival, Captain Rick from Sophisticated Lady, Sailing Nohoa. Why don't you have the auto pilot upgraded to a newer reliable model and installed, instead of the wind vane steering.

My laptop died a few days ago and the new ones are complete crap. So, I rebuilt my old one. While rebuilding it, found one of your videos on KZbin. Thought, I don't know about this one... But I gave you chance anyway. Yeah boats are black holes for money, hopefully yours will stop asking for so much now. Hey...Know that life is about loss and solving all freaking kinds of problems daily. No one gets out of it either........ I'm binge watching now. I started at the beginning. hahaha Pretty shocked that someone your age is actually doing this. But then I started thinking, what choices does someone your age actually have now in life. For what it is worth I think you chose well Skywalker. I use to live in Ocean Reef Club Key Largo, FL. I learned to dive and sail there. Yep, I know your turf well. Also know that I'm learning from you too. Which is the idea to keep subscribers joining and hooked. I might have some ideas for videos. I'll just watch for now though. I'm new here. Oh Mako is one funny little man.
