Chicken accounts for a third of the global meat consumption, demand over chicken meat has seen a dramatic rise in the past decades. A 2014 study compared the growth rates of the modern broilers with chicken strains from the 70s and 50s. The study found out that the modern broiler chickens have an exceptionally faster growth rate and a much bigger body mass compared to chickens from the past generations.
The rapid weight gain is a result of intensive farming and heavy commercial selection. The common broilers are specifically bred for rapid growth, which has allowed broilers to reach slaughter-weight quickly while taking up less feed. This reduces the cost of chicken meat production and made chicken an affordable meat choice.
Although this meant more chicken meat can be produced with less resource and time, chickens reared under intensive conditions are subject to poor living and health conditions, raising welfare concerns.

You’re one of (if not the) greatest KZbinrs I’ve ever seen, especially for such a new channel. While searching for information upon the Spinosaurus (I had been interested in paleontology in around 2010-2018 and was told by a friend about new break throughs) your video was most informative. I thought you had millions of subscribers, but regardless, you are a gem of a channel. Never give up, in 2 years you’ll be one of the best and greatest informative KZbinrs.

Blame the first world countries for their excessive meat consumption.

It's true, the US and Australia are amongst the highest meat consuming countries in the world, meat consumption and per capita income generally go hand in hand, better regulations are needed to address this problem.

So... If every chicken did all weight 4kg, that means 28 500 000 000 chickens was killed in 2018.
@FactorTrace
@FactorTrace Жыл бұрын
Hypothetically, yes. It's an unimaginably huge number. But worse yet, the typical slaughter weight ranges between 2 - 3 kg. So potentially, the number is double that, beyond the 50 billion range. (Up to 69 billion in 2018 alone, according to [2] and [5])

@@FactorTrace the effort should be collective there should be awareness campaigns from the government too Being a vegan individually is like being the only man who throws trash in the can while the entire town is littering.
