My brother has speech problems but are school (EDUPRIZE) they helped him a lot with a special program they had he can say very fluent sentences. It has helped both of my brothers when they pull them aside and work with them. I use to have to kinda like “translate” to everybody but know people can understand him except for Alexa.

Micah is still so young. I think one of the Beautiful things about children is their non awareness of things. As they get older they become aware. It makes sense to my brain that a child will excel as they get older. Your raw emotions showed me you are very concerned, you are a great mother and teacher. He is right where he is supposed to be and will always be there. My daughter has been in speech for 4 weeks and I hear a difference already. ❤️

My son was in speech therapy from 3 years old to 10 years old. He was also diagnosed with ADHD at 7. I had him checked, double, and triple checked with his ADHD diagnosis because I wanted to be sure that's what it was..... It's a hard road with learning disabilities and after I found out about the ADHD I started homeschooling cuz the public school environment wasn't good for him. Now with homeschooling, speech therapy and he also sees a therapist for ADHD help, it's been so good for him. When you started to cry I felt emotional too cuz I know the feeling of seeing your son struggle and get frustrated when people can't understand him.... It gets better and speech therapy will help alot :-) my son is done with his speech therapy now and can talk really well. We are still working through ADHD struggles but probably will be for a long while. I'll pray for Micah! He is such a sweet boy! I'm sure he'll do great with therapy too.

@savvyrichards87793 жыл бұрын
8 years of intensive speech therapy every week day from preschool to middle school I was able to over come articulation and phonology disability. It still affects me daily but no where near it did as a child. My siblings friends would think I was speaking another language, I had parents of friends make fun of me to my face for my speech. Today at 21 years old everyone new I meet would never guess I have a speech disability, sometimes I still struggle speaking properly or saying the correct words but most people can't tell or think it's just a normal slip up. Keep up the game play in speech therapy, making it fun was the key to not getting to overwhelmed or frustrated in my work personally.

Words are manifesting words. And really powerful. Micah has a speech ability.. literally that becomes physical....like Matilda childrens.. and so it was destine for his safety for a bit of a speech delay.. because when he grows up. Every word he uses will matter a whole lot! So much. (Not crazy).

My suggestion is to give him a hand mirror. Sit across from him, say the word, with him watching you. Then have him repeat it while looking in the mirror. He'll learn how you look when saying it. It will help! Way to go buddy! Keep up the good work!

My son is 6 and has speech problems. I understand the frustration with Alexa perfectly! I started to get him evaluated for speech, but gave up in the process because the paperwork wording kept asking things that could be “wrong” with him and it just broke my heart to label my kid with things that make him “wrong” or not “normal.” But I need to be strong and try again because I don’t want him to have these troubles for the rest of his life. 🙁 thanks for sharing with us!

My little brothers and I were homeschooled as well, and my youngest brother had some of the same things going on that Micah has! I remember having to interpret for him all the time because nobody understood him! I always knew exactly what he was saying though, just like you always know exactly what Micah says! My brother went through a few years of speech therapy as well, and he came out successfully on the other side. It’s a journey, but I am so happy for you all that Micah is already making such huge improvements!

As a young child, I did everything rather advanced...except for speech. I was in speech therapy as young as infancy and I was actually mute at age 6. I'm now since grown and a teacher. It can be a process, but early intervention is so important and will never do anything but help. Even if you're on the fence, do it, it won't hurt. Micah is such a sweet kid. Glad he's now getting the intervention he needs to grow his confidence. You guys are amazing parents. For all your kids.

I highly recommend the GAPS protocol - my son went from nonverbal at 5.5 yrs old to currently a chatterbox at 8.5 - still working on some pronunciation, but the improvement was dramatic and immediate, he had previously been in intensive therapy from the age of 2 - with only *mum, *no and *my with a handful of animal noises, and some self invented sign at 5.5 when I tried the protocol - he had an explosion in speech within a week or two and many of his other sensory and other neurological issues greatly improved too.

I have three kiddos and my first two are 15 months apart. They were my first and I was young, so I didn’t even realize I was interpreting everything they said to other people. Or I guess I didn’t realize it wasn’t normal. Their kindergarten teacher recommended they get tested, and long story short, they were both in speech from k-3, and it was so bitter sweet when they graduated the program because we came to love their speech pathologist so much! My daughter even asked if she could stay in speech forever. Now as 4th and 5th graders, you would NEVER know they were ever in speech. It was a journey for sure, but a great one! I hope the best for your little guy! He’s adorable💕

One of my sister's and her youngest son spoke just like Micah. My sis took speech therapy in K-3rd grade (her impediment was much more dramatic than her sons) . She had something clipped under her tongue by the Dr. as well. She was speaking clearly by end of 3rd grade. My nephew took speech therapy through 2nd grade and then spoke clearly. A cousin also had the issue with speech..took speech therapy and within a couple years he had dramatically improved. Go Micah!! 🙂

I am so happy Micah is getting speech therapy! My sister used lots of picture flash cards when my niece was little and as she learned to read she used word flash cards. She made most of the cards, but even dollar store cards with letters and pictures like "a" on one side and an "apple" on the other side works. They would do flash cards twice a day...everyday. I loved the little book you showed, that is like a game...not work! Let Micah know I am very proud of him for working so hard on his speech class and looking forward to hearing him say new words. Big "LIKED" for Micah! Have a great weekend and see you Wednesday!!!

Taking any sounds/articulation exercise he's working on and integrating it in his play with action figures or role play with siblings. Even at the park with some hopscotch with words/sounds or riding his bike on a path and dropping cards with words/sounds/sentences that he has to stop and read. Make it F-U-N and consistent!

I am excited to see how far Micah grows! I just found your channel because of curly hair 🤣! But I started watching and came to this video! I know it can be tough when people ask questions, especially depending how it is worded. I have had people come up and ask about my daughters eyes. When a kid says "why does she look like that" it breaks my heart. Or when adults come and tell me about someone they know with a disorder I know they are trying to see what she has or try to relate in some way. My daughter was born with Crouzon Syndrome (a mutation in her fgfr2 gene.) It caused craniosynostosis (premature fusion of the skull bones) because of the fusions, her brain was trying to grow however it could...which affected the orbits of her eyes. She had a ten and a half hour skull and face surgery. It doesn't affect her intelligence, just her looks, but kids always think she isn't capable and often exclude her. She is the sweetest most loving girl ever too. She will say mommy why won't my friends play with me. She thinks everyone is her friend 😭, it hurts to see her hurt.

I've never wanted to ask about micah because my little brother was diagnosed with autism at age 2, he is 4 right now but he can't speak, there has been people who have asked us if he has autism because of his behavior, I hope Micah's speech gets better💚

My great niece is in speech therapy now at two and a half; she wasn't really trying to talk, mostly just sort of hummed. I wasn't around her for a few months due to some family situations, but have recently started spending more time with her and can see at least a small difference. Still don't understand everything she's saying, but at least she's making progress.

I had a cousin who were like Micah 20 years ago. You couldn’t understand what he was trying to say. Also, his parents did nothing as they thought he would be fine on his own with time. He is completely fine. Your kid is completely fine as well. Please, don’t let the devil take a way your peace. Continue to work with your Micah. I will keep him and your family in my prayers. May God watch over and keep your family safe!

Micah is loveable! He has a loving family with his biological family and the merriers. I love y’all. Jacob is my grandson. We have taken him to many therapist. He has had many different diagnoses Autistic which we feel if anything he just has a few spectrum disorders. Right now his main issues is double digits and regrouping in multiplication. My daughter (his mom) said he’s like me i get overwhelmed by a lot of paperwork. So i am gonna try different methods

When my son was Micah's age he was just starting to talk and in speech therapy. I stressed a lot about his future. We were lucky to have great teachers and speech therapists. He is 23 now and has graduated college and is working full time. What I would tell my younger self is get him the help he needs but don't stress so much about it. He's smart and everything is going to be OK.

I am excited for Micah! I am glad he is liking speech. My daughter did not talk until she was 2 and then, only I could understand her. She started speech at 3. She was able to graduate from speech very quickly. We would just work on her sounds at home also. I would say a sound and let her put her hand on my throat and mouth to feel it and that seemed to help. Micah will do great!

My Micah was in speech class. Our pediatrician said he wasn't on track with other kids his age, at the age of 2. We started speech right away (even though we had hesitation- no one wants to think your baby is struggling). Now he is 5 years old speaking very clearly and excelling (he graduated from speech I think a year and a half, 2 years into starting). This was a blessing because he went from not being able to talk at all and crying and screaming out of frustration, to speaking clearer than his older brother. Keep your head up and the best thing our pediatrician and speech therapist taught us is to not repeat what they're trying to convey, but to just understand them. It gives them the confidence of being understood ♡

@@TheMooreTheMerrier if anything, I hope it just provides solidarity ♡ it can be so frustrating when everyone involved feels frustrated with the lack of communication. We totally related to that for many years. It's hard to not want to do all of the communicating for our little ones when we see they're frustrated.
