@@MakeThatChange Never mind. For one that leaves there are 50 in line waiting to immigrate to Canada. In a globalized world you can live where you feel more comfortable. Some Canadians and immigrants move because they can not stand those looong winters. Some move because they think Canada is too liberal. But at the end of the day , you must adapt to Canada. Canada, its weather and polices will NOT adapt to you.

Most of Nomads do have privileges and luxury. With the more powerful passport and higher currency rates of salaries from their home western countries, they can easily access luxury lifestyle in the place like Thailand where most of the locals could only wish. That’s why many Southeast Asians still looking forward to move to western countries. Some might stay in the Wests, and of course, some might just stay long enough to obtain PR/citizenship then move back to be able to enjoy that Nomad lifestyle.

In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become the North Korea of the western world.

I thought of moving to CA, but most if not all the 'fresh' information available online is gloomy. One has to try really hard to find some positive information. Some even say that the recession is yet to come. Don't know if it's all the planning to curb new immigrants or the reality.
@MakeThatChange

if there's anything the spreads fast - it's negativity! The truth is - inflation and high cost of living is an issue in most of the developed countries right now. Each country has it's own set of struggles and problems, and there's no ideal place. Personally, we think that, for the right person, Canada is still a fantastic place to be in, build a career and have a family. Will it take hard work? Absolutely! Will it be worth it? Depends on your goals and your current situation!

I have been finding the info online very gloomy too. My intended plan to go to Canada for my kids had a big question mark after a few relative and friends question my plan to move there. They ask " are you sure? Canada is not good anymore. We plan to move out and you plan to move here?" I currently live in the famously known expensive country in Asia, Sxxxxxxxx. Housing can cost at least CAN$5M for landed properties. And cars cost $120,000 for a standard sedan. Education is also very tough and competitive. Recently the local uni here ranked top 10 in the world. 😖My plan to go to Canada is so that life won't be so stressful for the future generation... but the constant mention of healthcare problems and crime rates in Canada raises lots of concern, compared to the current country i'm living in now - they are well-known to be the medical hub of asia, but it can be costly if you are not covered by private insurance, and the country is one of the countries that you can have a walk outside anywhere at night and you won't be scared of anything bad happening. If anyone dares to carry out robbery in this country, the first thing we'll think is " this person must be a foreigner, who doesn't know the severity of the law locally." Recently one of my relatives in Canada, got robbed in broad daylight after they were coming back from lunch, the robber was just walking out of the house with their steal, but luckily no one was hurt; that relative was one of the people who questioned my plans to move there. Another friend who lives in Canada and has an elementary age child complained that the quality of education is terrible and they want to move to the country I live in , but my question to them is "are you sure your kid can survive the education system here? Coz it's very demanding and if the child didn't start from grade 1 locally, they'll probably "drown" or have to drop 1 or 2 grades from whatever grade they were in Canada."
@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It is definitely stressful making a decision like that. I ( Anastasia) love Singapore, and once dreamt of living there for a few years too, just out of curiosity. Canada is known as a "chill" place, it's certainly way less competitive than the country you're referring to or the US. Life here is less stressful and less competitive, especially if you have one of the most in demand professions - you will not have a problem with work or income. Crime in Canada is higher than in your country ( But keep in mind Sxxxxx is considered one of the worlds lowest crime rates too, it's hard to beat!), but overall Canada's crime rate lower than 90% of the world's developed countries. Statistically, most house robberies don't happen randomly, they are targeted, either by neighbours or acquaintances - someone probably learned that your relative has something of great value to steal, or that it would be easy to break in. our 2 cents on this - do your research and make a decision for yourself, based on your family's goals. Your goals, ambitions and situation is likely different from your relatives/friends, so they can only help you so much in making a decision. besides, decision to move to Canada doesn't have to be finite. Maybe in 10 years your situation and views change, and you will find an even better place to find home! Once you move once, it becomes easer doing it again.

I uaually like your videos but thia one has a message that can be read in just one way: only privileged people are leaving, and that's not true, people have more options now with remote work for example it is just an option. Canada has always been expensive and now it is ridiculous, wages do not grow as much as cost of living and that's why whoever can make the move to another place where their money goes further will do it. It's not just the rich, we all are in this and have seen the change over the years.

I was born and raised in this country, my family fought through hell and high water to get here in the 1980s. Never before have we found our selves in such a position of struggle when it comes to just simply being able to afford to live. We make a moderate income, but when 50% Of your income goes towards tax, and the raining 30% Goes towards housing, at the end of the day, you only get to see about 20% of what you make. We can't afford to live here if we make $3000 a month and rent is $2500, and the only places in Canada where the rent isn't that high are places that lack both in infrastructure and job opportunities. We love this country, but we simply no don't make enough money to afford to live here, we are forced to find an alternative. And the thought of bringing people into this mess, forcing them to endure the exorbitant cost of living, the poor public service access, and the straining medical system, all whilst having to compete with Canadians already struggling to access those same services is abhorrent. We are lying to people when we tell them that their lives will be easier here. Will they be safer? It depends on where they are coming from, but no matter what they will continue to struggle.

But you highlighted the hint who these people and where they end up. End up, eh. Better to say they move only temporary. Personally it's basically my plan - as remote programmer, I would get Canadian passport, get a secure bank accounts and will travel around South East Asia. Then I save tons of money and buy a house in Quebec and will settle down. I don't consider returning to my home country because it's totalitarian Mordor.

I can tell you some reasons other than the normal living cost point people raise, although I know its raised globally and not only here. According to people ive spoken to, Canada feels cold, and im not talking about the winter. The culture here isnt really there, the people are impersonal and theres an air of inauthenticity. Most I hear is everyone feels individual, reserved, and theres lack of community. Theres no togetherness and almost all events are so dull and boring. And to a person born and brought up here, they may not see these peoples view, but when you come from countries where the cultures and community are closely knit, you feel that missing here. its just all a feeling, and i can understand their point of view but i can also see that many others have made their home here and have had the opposite experience. but just like anything, everyones experience is different. ill give an example: In india, wherever you live the neighbours will try to get to know you, even in dubai (unless you live in a rich neighbourhood), Neighbours will literally invite you for tea and you can ask for favors and strike a conversation. You can walk down the road and theres always entertainment or cheap food to enjoy on the street. Here even street food is damn expensive. Friends live closeby etc. Here, neighbours keep to themselves, everyone just goes back home and the neighbourhood is quiet. The only time i was offered tea here was one time by my punjabi neighbour and i helped him out with a bicycle because someone stole his and we offered our parking lot for sometime as a favor etc thats about it though until they moved, hed always greet you and say hi. When i came new here, fresh into highschool, the kids here are so different than my dubai schools, here they never introduced themselves, never even spoke to me. in dubai, if youre new, everyone goes to you and asks you so many questions and offers help. i was shit scared here. The kids here were smoking outside of school, getting into violent fights, doing w33d, not coming to classes, disrespecting teachers, dressing badly, I was not used to it. Here, from what people have said, its like its every man for themselves. community is lacking. Another reason is some education certificates arent accepted here so its very demoralizing to some crowds. For example when I first came to canada, I met a doctor with a PHD working as a taxi driver because he couldnt find a job, and another reason is that Canada wouldnt accept his certificate, and many a time others have to re-test their knowledge and education even if they have proof of it (this is what ive been told). Next is the weather, its too cold, people cant fathom not being able to get out of the house for 6 months because you cant enjoy being outside in winter. They find the gloom depressing and feel an overall low mood. Plus the shovelling and icy roads and theres hardly any heating systems when waiting for you bus. People from Europe might not find this problematic but definitely coming from a hot country, the weather is something to get used to. Even after being here for 13 years, i hate it, but my family LOVES WINTER. So these are some other reasons I think people are leaving Canada.

Now it seems I made a mistake. you have to try really hard to find at least something good about Canada. New unprepared emigrants from Ukraine, foreign emigrants are all using terrible words to criticize Canada. Even the natives at work from the very first days complain and call them names that they are already curling up into tubes. All this is very upsetting. It seems I made a huge mistake and I feel apathy almost every day. It's horrible. And it seems I have already lost by making the wrong choice.

And it’s unclear why?? It seems that only long-suffering Canada has taxes! Like no other country has taxes lol! After a ton of videos and articles, you already believe it. What else? Prices are rising? This is now the case in all countries. Every country that survived Covid, especially those who actively helped their citizens, is experiencing such price increases and inflation. A strange society that can’t decide what a woman is? And what can be said and what cannot be said? Isn't it like that everywhere? People are just looking for rules and they are thrown from one extreme to another. But still, understanding this does not give peace of mind. And I’m sick and very worried every day!

While some people may have legitimate reasons for leaving Canada, I can't help but wonder if a certain Prime Minister's policies might be one of them. 🤔 High taxes, a climate that can rival the North Pole, and now the allure of remote work in sun-soaked paradises? Who wouldn't want to escape the Trudeau era? 🏝💸 It's ironic that Trudeau's carbon footprint probably rivals that of a small country, yet he's all too eager to lecture Canadians on environmental responsibility. Maybe he should take some of his own advice and stay home once in a while. 🌍🌲 But hey, if you're considering a move to Canada and you're worried about these issues, just remember, not every opinion you hear on the internet reflects reality. Canada still offers incredible opportunities for those who are willing to work hard and stick to their goals. 🇨🇦🚀

From my experience living in Canada, if you work hard to develop your skills and receive a higher salary, the taxes are at the level of extortion. The direct tax levied on purchases is at the level of exploitation. There is no need to mention the rent. It's a great place to live if you're lazy, insincere, and LGBT.

Reasons you mentioned are absolutely correct ! But you missed some of the darkest factors also. Let me highlight some for y'all 1 MORE IMMIGRATION ! It is creating unemployment and making housing unaffordable, so people who just come as a PR without a job and then decide to find a job here go back. 2 Some of those people who are leaving must have gotten some medical condition/injury etc and thanks to canadian healthcare, they must have waited for months to just get an appointment until their condition got worse to the point that they were just about to die. 3 Not a place to raise a kid. Government encourages gender change and education system is doing a complete mind-f#*k. One day my kid says he is a girl, next day he is cat. And this is also happening with high school students. So such parents are leaving. 4 Only specialised workers survive. People with less than 60k can't afford to live in toronto and vancouver and they also can't go to other cities which are literally country-side without any jobs, so they leave. I don't know if you girls already knew these things and decided to highlight only mild ones, but these reasons I mentioned are 100% true. Anyways thanks for the video ! Great content !

Since moving away I've decided to live only a few months in each country I visit but in spite of moving around once every few months yet I managed to save 2-3x more in comparison to when I was working just to pay all the bills where I could never earn enough to own a home in Vancouver, ever! I still hope for massive turn around for the country I love yet I'll encourage anyone to get out of your comfort zone and u shall be surprised by all the experiences money can never buy u! Canada is only going to get worse the next decade. Not only because of crime, inflation, cost-of-living and an horrendous authoritarian woke government but simply because the standard of living of the 20th century will never come back. Canada will suffer in the same way as the rest of the planet, the economic cicle of abundance is over. Now we enter the era when we have to pay the interests of the debt, with giant state deficits to keep up the welfare state and a shrinking middle-class. The world owes itself 300% of its GDP and it's gonna accelerate from 2024 and on. A Tsunami of debt is coming, specially to woke countries like Canada, those will be hit the most because they will delay cutting on their budgets and gigantic deficits. So, it will be bad everywhere, but at least many countries have nice weather, blue skies, nice people, more freedoms etc. Imagine going through the worse economic crisis in 100 years from a tiny shoe-box apartment in Toronto or Vancouver, where 6 months of the year are similar to Mordor. Canada is worth it only if u r from a war zone or really really poor. To be fair Canada was never the greatest place for homo sapiens The best places to live climatically & based on food supply have always been India & China & Indo-China and that is why they are so densely populated. They did not have the economic opportunities in 19th century due to colonization. Then we had the rise of great nation of America which allowed people prosperity based on skills, entrepreneurship, hardwork and innovtion. Due to its socialism Canada was never there. It got hand me downs based on labor arbitrage as Canadian wages were always 30 to 100% lower when compared to US (American companies setting up branch offices just like they do now in China or India). A depreciated currency provided another 30-40% arbitrage (an employee costing $100 in US was costing $50 in Canada if wage differential as 30% more if it was higher). But as world globaized, that advantage went away. Now Amazons, Googles & even Starbucks are better off having establishment in India or China. Education, infrastructure, metros, connectivity, affordability, food, clothing, taxation, medicine, healthcare, freedoms, freedom of press are all better in Asia for middle class when compared to Canada. But Canada keeps marketing itself as some kind of el dorado when it should be marketed as CLIMATE OF MOON PRICES OF MONACO LIFESTYLE OF ARGENTINA EDUCATION & FREEDOMS OF CHINA TAXES OF FRANCE It is still a good place to park funds/assets for rich & famous or a safe haven for refugees from war zones and those r the only segments Canadian immigration mafia (the biggest Canadian businesses are all immigration related) should target. Unfortunately since Canada hardly has an economy and no savings (due to high levels of legalized extortion by governments), they target the savings of middle class abroad using misinformation. This should be stopped.

@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 5 ай бұрын
if you look at the world economy, there are very few case studies of successful homeless solutions. Canada's not unique with this issue. Canadian society has overall been stable, and I dare say, privileged - no wars, no major conflicts, not eventful. Things are now heating up a little. For Canadians - this feels like the end of the world, but the reality is that Canadian's has had it too easy all this time and are soft to handle the slightly rough patches. the numbers of "immigrants leaving" are simply a statistical reflection of more people coming. It's simple math, taken out of context. Canada's also given away PR and visas too easily, so it attracted people who aren't even ready for immigration in the first place - this also lifts up the numbers that the media loves to take out of context. Having said that, Canada has many problems that need to be solved, but what country in the world doesn't? Personally, we love the life we've created here in Canada after immigration, and not planning to move. We have 6 figure jobs that we worked hard for, we have a home, and we're working on something meaningful - if we can do it as immigrants with nothing, others can too. We see the future in Canada, not without a crisis for a few years though. You can look at people leaving as a natural selection, a circulation of people in the ecosystem - many people become expats in Portugal or Mexico, while many Mexicans and Portuguese are moving to Canada on PR :)
@orangutan4696

@MakeThatChange The facts speak for itself. People are leaving because there is no future in Canada. I bought my house in Vancouver with minimum wage income. Today, young people can hardly pay rent with the same income in the same city. Why compare to the 3rd world? Just for feeling good? Or just for numming effect? What future? What's wrong with this country? We got heartless or idiots running this country or what? Can you feel the pains these young people are going through when they have no choice but to leave their ancestors' homeland?
@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 5 ай бұрын
there's always a choice. we've practiced on almost all of them! You can simple search for "citizenship test Canada" and do trial runs with as many as you can to gain more confidence in taking this test!

I think the number of people leaving Canada in those vids is overblown. Canada is not perfect but is probably a helluva lot more desirable than many immigrant source countries. Canada is expensive for a reason. Simply look the numerous lists of top countries for this and that (ie. happiness, livability, peacefulness, safety, cleanliness). You will usually find Canada and Canadian cities on those lists. For the people who aren’t happy or who think they can do better elsewhere, I say, buh bye. Rather than looking at what may be wrong in Canada, they need to look in the mirror. There are plenty of others wanting to immigrate to Canada. For those not born in Canada, Canadian citizenship is not a right, it’s a privilege and should be looked at as such.

Canadians are losing there freedoms and presently under a dictatorship rule. This was very evident by the truckers protest and immediate changes made in legislation blocking the freedom to peaceful protests.

if you guys ever lived under the real communism or dictatorship, you'd be much more careful using these terms in regards to the current situation in Canada. it's nowhere close.

Another reason for Canadian citizens or immigrants leave are the disasters. However tge disasters happen everywhere and a lot of people are leaving Florida because of politics

There are several KZbinrs who hype that so many people are leaving Canada. I see majority of people dont leave. Those leaving Canada have thier own personal goals n we should not get carried away

Regardless of some videos on the internet which gives Canada its negative vibes with regards to the cost of living & housing , I must say Canada is still the BEST country to live in the world . No country in the world has it all . True , Canada also has its challenges as a nation like any other country . Please do not listen to them . They make videos based in their personal opinions & for KZbin likes were they can earn monies to themselves.💕💕
