Wow I can't believe how instant that was, immediately after praying with you I just began speaking syllables I trusted the holy spirit to use my tongue.

God came to the rural wooded area where I live enveloped and and saved me. I had no idea what had happened. What is saved?? I was a new man! A new creation! He then baptized me in the Holy Spirit and I began speaking in tongues. I had no idea what it meant. You see, no man, no religion had told me what God could, would or wouldn't do. Pharisaical denominations will deny God's word now as they did then. I was 33. That age ring a bell? Hallelujah! As I learned from the Bible I would pray in tongues and He would give me the interpretation. My wife and I had been married 14 years then and doctors had PROVEN my wife's body killed my sperm on contact and she could not conceive. we were prayed for by the elders and pastor of our church for children and healing of her body. I was speaking in tongues at home and Jesus gave me the interpretation. My wife had been saved and baptised in His Holy Spirit too and had been given the gift of tongues. He told ne my wife was pregnant! (I still have His exact words written in a notebook and on a plaque I made to hang on the wall) He said it would be a son! This was Tuesday, October 29, 1979. We went to the lab and pregnant she was! She bought a baby book the day after we found out and wrote his name in it, Nathan Matthew! He was born June 25, 1980! This was about 8 months after God told me, no way could science have determined the sex at four weeks. He is 36 now and fine man and a minister of Christ! Hallelujah! Praise God! Thank you Holy Spirit for the gift of tongues and all your other spiritual gifts! Most of all for the gift of Jesus the Christ! Hallelujah! If God's gifts are spoken against then the speakers and believing hearers of their distortions are being cheated by DEAD religion! ASK GOD FOR YOURSELF, NOT SOME DOCTOR OF DIVINITY. BLESSED ARE THE CHILDLIKE FOR THEY CAN SO EASILY RECEIVE FROM GOD! A-S-K G-O-D! He still speaks! Hallelujah! My bible says whosoever will. Don't let traditions of men rob you of God's gifts, including this one. ASK HIM! Again, ASK HIM. REALLY read the scriptures without denominational or religious, traditional influence. Too much praise? I think not! Friends, if you had been delivered from what Jesus brought me from you'd be out shouting me! Jesus is the only one worthy of staying excited about. I sing, speak, pray, intercede in the spirit. (tongues) All through the old and new testament you can read of it! Praise Jesus! Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice! I do this daily! Keeping built up in my spirit like a battery charging! Hallelujah! What God does in saving you is your testimony and cannot be taken from you. Those denying God's spiritual gifts have an argument with Jesus and should take it up with Him, not those that have thrown themselves upon His grace at the foot of the cross. Don't be robbed of God's gifts by their lack of faith.

Okoye Chioma you're not getting the point. Christianity is just one of many religions, speaking in tongues only makes sense to Christians (and a small percentage of them)... a Muslim or a Hindu would say that their own version of channeling the entities from their religions is the real one and that tongues is fake. so I'm asking, is there any actual evidence that tongues is real ? by evidence I don't mean people in KZbin videos just claiming that it is real. they only defend that speaking in tongues is real because they believe it. that's not evidence at all

I am a testimony and I saw a video were a neuroscientist was checking out the science behind speaking in tongues. you should check it out but I am not really sure of it although it was quite convincing.. but the truth is the things of God are spiritual and not human.. it can't be understood by the natural mind.. but its real... Just like how salvation and creation can't be understood by normal people because they are things of faith.. permit me to quote this... 1 Corinthians 2:14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. I attend a church who believes in tongues. I am not familiar with a lot of the scriptures. I am in the process of reading the bible. Tongues was hard for me to believe. I questioned it. I believe people can fake it. But I had a dream that I was speaking in tongues (but in foreign languages like Arabic and French). I knew then it would happen. The year prior, I started but it was two words "hala" and another sound. Then a year later, I got the dream and received a 3rd word, but I was filled with Him, the Holy Spirit. On a Wednesday, I went to my woman's life group. I felt so good. I went home and got on my knees. I surrendered myself. I was in complete stillness. I told the Lord, I want more of Him and less of me. Then I received this rush (flow) in my spirit. I started speaking in tongues. It sounded Arabic and French and others. I recorded myself. I couldn’t speak in my native language. It was so amazing. I do not like saying tongues. I thought to myself, "What language did Adam speak?". It was revealed to me that he spoke the heavenly language. So I like to say "Adamic". When we got away from God, we got away from the first language. Then I learned, people use this term of heavenly language. I was able to interpret which my pastor and I agreed. The lady told us what she was praying for. It was a great feeling.I do believe there are certain words you can pull that is translated. I have large heavenly vocabulary than the people who has been speaking it and been leaders/pastors for years. I am extremely private about it. But I was a skeptic (unbeliever) until it happened to me. And if anyone believes it comes from Satan, he doesn’t want us to have joy. So why do I feel joy and peace and guidance. Satan wants destruction. Satan has been destroying my life for a long time so nobody will take this joy from me, my life has surrendered to God. I am in more peace than I ever have been. I am glad that I found a church who helped me learn about the scripture but I am seeking more of him through others with different perspectives. People can attack me with scripture. But God has always confirmed in scripture many things to me after I started hearing his voice. He is my judge, not man. I am literally a child and hunger more for him.

I was called by the Lord to teach in ' 95. Although i don't have sufficient scriptural backing to teach it ,i believe that the heavenly language is what man spoke before the Gods' confusion of tongues at Babel. It fits though, because in Acts 2 the believers spoke in one heavenly language.Three times those in the crowd said," How HEAR we them in our own languages?" Easy if the heavenly language is the source of all earthly languages.

The Lord is so good .I was one of those who thought the spirit of tongues was only for a few Christians God chose to give but this revelation inspired me and I could not believe it I was filled with joy when I realized I started praying in tongues at the end of this clip. The next day I shared this testimony with my sister she had faith too and watched the video as we started praying she too received the spirit of tongues. I will continue watching this services online because I need this relationship with the Holy Spirit and I need to learn more .

Just a few weeks ago I was driving with my 2 cousin and my daughter and listening to a thing about Jesus Christ and all the sudden I just started speaking or making some kind of noises kinda like when your cold and it scared me very much I couldn't speak every time I tried I did it again. Speaking in "tongues" has always been one spiritual language. In the original New testament greek " tongues" translates as " a language". Three times ,it is recorded in Acts, believers recieved the Holy Spirit and immediately spoke in " tongues". It is not the same as the gift of tongues. It is; the initial evidence that a believer has recieved the Holy Spirit. The born again believers spiritual prayer language.And at times, it is a sign when God allows unbelievers hear what is being said in their own language(s) as confirmation that the gospel is true.That is what happened in Acts ch.2.The Holy Spirit baptism is how we recieve the Holy Spirit.

sir David thank you for a much very clear explanation regarding speaking in tongues. I've wanted to have it long time ago but because of many arguments and disagreement like you said it kinda takes away my attention with it, but these past weeks i kinda re study it and listen to the preaching and articles bout this holy language. i know and i believe that there's no harm having or experiencing it. and I do believe it will just get me closer to Jesus.last night I've come across to your short preaching and after it. i goes on to try... I've ask the baptism of the holy spirit and then in my heart i just pray Lord may you give it to me...then i just start throbbing and start to have a very intense crying that i couldn't even say anything nor my mind can think of anything. i do felt something very warm feeling in my belly and my lips is just shaking and groaning. similar to romans 8:26. but i wanna be sure and some little advice is helpful. The best thing to do is, ask God for understanding of his scriptures because you don't want to be adding to or taking away from God's scriptures. Just read directly from the Bible and pray for understanding. You don't want to cause others to be deceived by your ignorance. Let all things be done for edification. (1 Corinthians 14:13) “Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.”

I am now attending a church that does not believe in Speaking in Tongues. Today is a worldwide lockdown . I have a prayer time in the evening the Holy Spirit says pray for your friends and I did. In the morning God gave me the name .She is devastated her brother died of suspected covid 19 . Then another friend and another . The Holy Spirit will put meaning into every syllables and sounds. Speaking in tongues is one heavenly language and is this initial evidence that a believer has recieved the Holy Spirit.Peter and the disciples with him in Acts 10 would never have believed that the gentiles had recieved the Holy Spirit until they heard them speak in this specific language.God also allows unbelievers to understand what is being said in tongues as a testimony to them that the gospel is true.This what happened in Acts 2.

I have some questions about the move of the Holy Spirit and most of your teachings gave exactly the answers. Speaking in tongues is already usual move of the Holy Spirit in me.. At first I had a doubt if its really manifesting in me, but God Himself made a proof that's exactly moved of the Holy Spirit. Your topic is exactly what I've experienced. I once had a loss in time after watching a movie called "pay it forward" with my two daughters who were approximately 11 and 9 years old at that time. I got up to use the bathroom.... While in the bathroom I thought deeply on all the things I could personally do to pay it forward in my own life in order to inspire and lift up others(Gods people) FOR HIM! I was in "conversation" with him on this..... when I reentered the livingroom, i wentvto the end of the counter in my kitchen,continually pondering! And then suddenly I appeared at my stove about 5 ft from the end of the bar. I found myself standing in front of the sink and stove and didn't know how i got there WHEN my daughters "woke me" in hysterical laughter and asking me what I was saying!? I didn't have ANY IDEA that I had said ANYTHING! They continued on to say, " you were just saying Abba ba ba da ma da ba" ect... I had NO IDEA i said this nor did i have any clue its meaning so i had no clue how to respond.....since then(2009), ive never been able to find any answers to what happened to me and my girls that night! And what kind of tounge it could have been? Is it BIBLICAL!? Of course! I feel deep in my soul that it was! However, according to this video,David mentioned 3 types and none of them fit my experience and if their is a category to place it under, I would LIVE to know what it meant!? Was it for me? For my girls or all of us(obviously so) but ...... ❤ praise 🙏 GOoD, im on my way to L(EAR)ning!! thank for ur teaching i wish to let u know that i tried it out and am happy i got it this time.funny enough i sound not like some one i have heard before and i did not know what i was saying. but a sense of feeling sad and joy fell over me and tears started runing down my face. I tried it all day yesterday just to prove that i have not lost it. yes if we ask we shall receive used to look at guys in the church doing it and i would get scared bse i could not understand them. Now am even scared to tell my wife bse i dont know what she would think of me. But am happy that i can talk in tongues even if i cant understand what am talking.

This is awesome understanding. I almost can't believe how much God has revealed to you in the bible. You interpret a different side of the Word than I do, I love it. I am embarrassed even by myself to speak in tongue. I think I need to surround myself with believers that speak in tongue. Even as a prophet, I need a couple of sheep to move towards the shepherd before i do haha. I could use some tips, I'm sure I'll meet you soon.

I do not see a single scripture that says there is a private prayer language (glossolalia). There are scriptures, when taken out of context, do seem to read as if there is such a thing, but a proper study of what is said in context shows that there is not. I'm not saying that the personal experience of those who claim there is is not a deeply moving and sincere experience. What I am saying is that for it to be a miraculous gift given by The Holy Spirit, it would need to have scriptural example and authority and the use of it would not contradict what we read about tongues in the Bible. You may, or may not be aware that glossolalia, or tongues speaking as we know it today, was first uttered on 1st January, 1901 by Agnes Ozman, a member of Charles Fox Parham's church. He is considered to be the father of the charismatic movement. He thought Agnes was speaking Chinese. Many in the congregation began to speak glossolalia as she was doing and these sincere good hearted people went to China to bring the gospel to that nation. On arrival they quickly and embarrassingly discovered they were not speaking Chinese. It is a shame that no-one had the gift of interpretation or discernment. This embarrassing situation was explained away by declaring that this particular type of tongue was a prayer language and various scriptures have been used to support the new position regarding this unknown language. For the scriptures relating to tongues to be relevant and applicable to both known languages miraculously spoken and to glossolalia, they must both be of the same character, purpose, nature and be un-falsifiable. 1st Corinthians was written in C55 AD, whereas Acts was written in C63 although many biblical scholars believe it to be after C70. My point, and it's not an essential one, is that for Paul's instructions to the Corinthians to make sense, he must be writing about the type of tongues we see in operation in Acts. We know that the tongues in Acts were world languages. Here are some things we know about the miraculous gifts; they are given sovereignly by The Holy Spirit as he pleases and for the building up of The Church (Heb 2:3-4). I am not aware of any gifts being spoken of by The Holy Spirit (i.e. revealed in The Word, The Bible) as being for personal use and personal edification. 1 Cor 12:7 and 14:12 ".....the good of all". i.e. the church. God never intended any spiritual gift for private benefit. If tongues are for the common good how can their use be personal? There is no scripture that clearly states that there is a non-world language given by the Holy Spirit as a prayer language but there are several misunderstood ones that could be read as indicating there is: 1 Cor 14:2 "For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God". In context this is saying at church, when no one present understands the language spoken, only God understands what is being said. 1 Cor 14:4 "Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church". This is not a statement of doctrine or clarification of purpose. No gifts are given for personal edification, but for the common good. It is saying that is wrong. vs7-9 Must be intelligent words with definition that can be understood (and therefore can be translated) otherwise you speak into the air. If this is speaking of glossolalia, then what is the point of a prayer language that needs an interpreter? If this refers to glossolalia as a private prayer language, which as you know is not understood by the one speaking it, then this verse tells you it us just speaking into the air i.e. is of no value or use as a prayer language. v10 "Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning". This passage makes it very clear the instructions Paul is giving relates to known languages. Therefore none of it relates to glossolalia. That being the case you can't use these verses as proof text for glossolalia. v14 "For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful". Is praying with an unfruitful mind what God wants ? NO ! being unfruitful is not good in any context. So how should we pray? v15 "So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding". You see here that to pray in the Spirit requires using your mind, that is prayer that God wants to hear. "God is Spirit and his worshipers must worship in theSpiritand in truth" (John 4:24). When asked how to pray, Jesus said "And when you pray, do not keep on babblinglikepagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words". You cannot fail to be impressed by the examples of prayer in the Bible. Daniel, Ezekial, Stephen, to mention only a few who were clearly praying in The Spirit. Today, the term "praying in the spirit" is used more often than not to mean praying in an ecstatic language. Biblically, that concept is false. Furthermore, we are told to not think about what we are saying or wanting to say when praying in tongues. That is a false teaching that has no basis in scripture by way of instruction or example. I take Paul's warning in 1 Tim 4:1 seriously. 1 Cor 14:17 "You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified". If tongues are for the common good how can their use be personal? 1 Cor 14:21 In the Law it is written: With other tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord. (Isaiah 28:1-12) 22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers"; This, like v10, clarifies that Paul's instruction relates to world languages. The nature of biblical tongues is that they are known world languages. Also, we are informed that tongues are a sign for unbelievers, so how can their use as a private prayer language achieve that? Let us be clear, The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to give instruction for the use of tongues as the gift was being used in an out of control manner contrary to the way intended. The context of ch 14 relates to the use of tongues in The Church. May be there was even babbling resurfacing among the Corinthians whose background was pagan worship. Anyway, ch14 is not legislating the use of a prayer language. We are told tongues are a sign for unbelievers, and their purpose is given in 1 Cor 14:6 "if I speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction?" Tongues bring something revealed from God that must be shared. It is not a personal message. It's source is God. I have never heard an interpretation revealing something the speaker didn't know already. SO, by definition it was not a biblical tongue and whatever was interpreted was already known to the speaker and so could have been said in English. in 1 Corinthians 13:1, Paul refers to the language of the angels. This passage is often referred to as proof that glossolalia is a spiritual, even angelic language. However, the context is hyperbolic and not to be taken as a proof text. A proof text out of context is a pretext. No, Paul is saying "even if I could speak in the language of angels (notice language is singular), but don't have love, it would be of no use. That is the purpose of all the other hyperbolic statements in order to make the illustration that it doesn't matter what you do or could do unless you have Love. Love is greater than even the greatest spiritual gift. In the next verse, he referred to knowing all mysteries, having all knowledge and all faith. These are rhetorical devices and out of our grasp. So we might think that the language of the angels is as well. Logically, if glossolalia were angel language, given each person speaks a different style of it, must mean every angel (and presumably there are billions), speaks a different language. Hence they don't understand each other either without an interpreter present. Another proof text taken out of context is Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Two key points make it highly unlikely that Romans 8:26 is referring to tongues or glossolalia as a prayer language. First, Romans 8:26 states that it is the Spirit who groans, not believers. Second, Romans 8:26 states that the groans of the Spirit cannot be expressed. The very essence of speaking in tongues is uttering words. So far I have only referred to scripture to explain the view I take. I have not yet drawn on my observations of glossolalia in practise. There are many ways that the practise of glossolalia can be seen to be not adhering to scripture and that cannot be right if it is The Holy Spirit is at work. Neither is it of The Holy Spirit if glossolalia is something that someone is encouraged "to do" or made to think they should be speaking glossolalia. The Holy Spirit sovereignly distributes gifts for the edification of The Church and those given the gift that we read about in scripture did not need to learn and perfect the use of it. Neither was it falsifiable. If I speak Chinese to you next time I see you, or rather to enable me to preach the gospel to a lost Chinese person, you will know The Holy Spirit has chosen to give me the gift of tongues. I have laid out my reasoning for not accepting glossolalia as being a genuine spiritual gift. Even if you dont accept it, I hope it commends itself to you as a hermeneutically developed and coherent point of view.

Many "Christian" people love, enjoy, and "believe" in things that stir their emotions and make them feel super special! Some churches spend more time on "selling" the glossolalia spiritual gift, than on teaching about the reason why Jesus died on the cross and the truly special gift of salvation he provides for FREE! For those who prefer to specialize in foreign languages, there's always Berlitz!
