You may have never met him but you still knew him. That is why you felt those emotions. We all knew him from watching his interviews, movies, and comedy skits. We also knew him through watching his interviews and listening to other people who knew him personally speak of him. After watching him for years we admired him, and anxiously awaited new films from him. The fact that he made us feel emotion whether it be happiness, sadness, or excitement caused us to gain a connection to him.

I never met him, or wrote to him, but every time I listen to something about ‘Robins Suicide’ or ‘Robins Depression’ I have to hold back tears. Literally, he was my hero, my idol, my inspiration, when I was a young kid. Never met him but I knew him. Never connected with him but I grieve him like a late father. It’s so strange. Even at 70yrs old I will cry for his memory. We lost so much too early. And he had no idea how much he meant to people. 😢

Poor Robyn , my heart went out to him the day he died. I couldn’t believe he was gone. The way he suffered was excruciating and horrible. I suffer from debilitating anxiety, panic attacks and depression myself, but it’s nothing compared to what he was going through. I also suffer with insomnia and have to take sleeping tablets to sleep. Right at this moment it’s 6.30 am and I can’t sleep because I ran out of my tablets and can’t see my doctor for 2 more days. I have to take Valium to keep the panic attacks to a minimum. I have tried to take my own life once and wanted to so badly many many times. It’s my love for my family and my two beautiful cavalier King Charles spaniel’s that keeps me here. So dear Robyn I understand why you took your life and I don’t have it nearly as bad as you did. I miss you and I pray 🙏🏻 that you are now resting In Peace, making them laugh in heaven. I think of you often. ❤❤❤

My cousin, Rebecca Greeley, who was an assistant to the directors of the afterlife fantasy film "What Dreams May Come", was suffering from her own health issues during that cinematic experience. She died before he did, and her mother, my aunt, told me he noticed her on the outdoor sets, her head sometimes hanging low from her pain. He would go out if his way to ask her how she was, how she was feeling etc. even though she wasn't as "famous" as the other directors. My aunt told me Rebecca was so touched by his attention. This is the kind of man this guy was. He didn't care about your so called status. He only wanted people to feel okay. Robin used one of my gags in Disney's "Aladdin". I remember reading in a review a critic praising Robin for his "ad libbing" of my gag (where he acts like a Rose Parade commentator on the amount of feathers in the peacock float etc.) Ive had other (bigger) ideas stolen from me while at Disney that bother me to this day. Robin didn't steal that little gag. I just gained an insight into his methods. Didn't bother me in the least. That's how much I loved him.

These are some of the first videos I've watched about Robin since he passed in 2014. I couldn't even rewatch movies with him in them because of how heartbreaking it was for me. He was such an idol to me since I was a child. I was so inconsiderate at the time I heard of his passing and I just thought it was a selfish way to go.. but I see things so differently now, and I really did not know the extent of what he was going through at the time. I think it's better to remember him for all of the good he brought to the world and the memories he left behind than how he passed, he went his own way and he did the best he could with the unimaginable situation he went through on a daily basis. He was such an inspiration and truly a beautiful soul. I'm going to rewatch all of his movies from my childhood. Rest in peace Robin ❤️

My Grandma suffered from this, Lewy Body Dementia. I lived with her her last year. It's so hard to watch your loved one lose themselves when they've been such a dynamic force of nature all their lives. Depression is a symptom of the disease, and I can see why. Those with this disease decline quickly. I think when she realized she was changing so quickly and her body betrayed her, she sort of gave up. I was so blessed to be with her, she's my hero. I'm thankful to the Williams family for their openness, it raised awareness which is sorely needed. I miss Robin.

I pretty much grew up being amazed by Robin's comedic talent and never missed any of his projects. I even watched his failed TV show! When I got the news of his suicide I had no idea of the suffering he was going through. I wrote it off as Hollywood killing off another of its talented citizens. Some people can't cope with success and the pressures that it brings with it. I thought Robin was just crushed beneath the weight of his own talent and fame; seeking drugs and alcohol to cope with it all. I am honored to have enjoyed his sense of humor and warm personality! RIP, Robin!

Robin has always been an inspiration to me and thats why i refrained from using hard drugs. yes i did fail and i did use one particular drug then regretted it badly but lucky i wasnt addicted to it and thank Mr Williams i was able to see my mistake before the addiction took hold. if you never experienced what a panic attack can do try to understand this, its very scary and the ones hitting me are quite painful indeed. sadly i cannot seek medical help and my life has been heading downhill since they began again. yes i do forget things quite often and i can relate to what Robin went through. i loved this man so much i named my 2nd son after him. ive said too much but ill still let this be read. may you all live in peace and one day hopefully soon in harmony!

I was eating at a retro type low-key restaurant named "The Diner" in Yountville, CA (Napa Valley) in the 1980s when Robin, his wife, and young son sat down at the table directly across the aisle about 10 feet away. His son must have been Zak - about 4 or 5 years old at the time. Far from his loud and over-the-top persona, Robin came in very quietly and unassuming. Everyone pretended not to notice who he was. At one time I could hear him quietly explaining to his son some sort of table etiquette. Just very ordinary folks going out to eat as a family.

Any of us that have battled the biochemical imbalance in our brains understands the driving need to make it stop. I was crushed by Robin’s departure and also understood the dark hole he needed freedom from. He is so missed as he uplifted so many including me. I feel more compassion for his family because on the other side of this madness is the guilt that the loved one didn’t do enough or if only I was there at that moment frequent haunting mental scenario. The truth is you can’t be there 24/7. The truth is suicide should not be judged as negative when your mind imprisons you. Sometimes, just sometimes no amount of therapy, medication or love can save you from the terror within. Unless you’ve cowered in that dark chamber through out your life, you couldn’t possibly understand, regardless of how many phds, or medical background in psychiatry specializing in neurological storms. Robin, thank you for the time you gave us.

I remember being so disappointed and angry when I heard that he had committed suicide. Its selfish to say. Like many of the people on here Robin was the dad that I never had. Honestly, he made my childhood. His delivery and personality always made everything seem like it couldn't be all that bad out there. I am genuinely sad that he's gone. I can't say that I'm angry or disappointed anymore. Just sad. The older I get, the more I see the heros of the past slipping away into obscurity and being villainized for one aspect or another. The world isn't the place is once was. People just seem angrier and sadder. It just feels like we're all on a treadmill and the slope keeps getting steeper but there's no way off. As a people we are all so polarized to negativity and selfishness that it sceams to be the new norm. We used to be able to look at the world and laugh. Now we look around and wonder what's next. I guess I'm glad I grew up in a time before the change. I can look back every once in a while and smile at what once was and could be. Then turn around and push forward some more.
