Thank you Pastor Meyers. I spent one year in the book of Isaiah studying in a nondenominational group. I learned a lot, but there were some things I found unclear. Often I was told sections were referencing the millennium, yet I could make no direct connection from the text. Still, I was open. I could not make sense of references to death during the millenium. It just didn’t add up . Once in the group discussion, I mentioned about the conditional promises I had read about in the text, and some lady jumped down my throat and screamed at me; “There’s no conditions , there were no conditions! No conditions!” anyway my words struck a nerve with her and I decided to take note and study what had made this lady so upset. When I was done studying that year with the nondenominational group, I picked up an Adventist commentary and i re-studied the entire book of Isaiah; Every chapter. And to me this was the missing piece of the puzzle; This idea of edenic restoration . to define edenic restoration: it would be garden of Eden -like conditions restored upon the faithfulness of God‘s people; the Jews. The non-denominational group took unfulfilled conditional prophecy, and placed it in the future and assumed it would one day be fulfilled and then it must be referencing the millennium. I don’t know how anyone can read the text and not come away with a certain knowledge that some prophecies were conditional upon obedience. Nonetheless, they insisted on placing unrealized conditional prophecy in the future instead of saying this was never allowed to materialize. When I understood that the major prophets contain prophesies that were not realized because they were conditional, a lot of things that were unclear became very clear to me. Thank you for articulating Primary text. This is so important.

I watched your message on the Millennium and found it informing. I did wonder why you took the long road. The sanctuary which is the central pillar of faith gives clear information regarding the Millennium. All SDA doctrines come from the sanctuary, the 7th month and 10th day.. We have been instructed to learn and know the 2300 day prophecy and the complete understanding of the heavenly sanctuary and Jesus ministry as high priest. Dan 8:14 is the central pillar surrounded by 6 outer pillars and also our central point of our teaching. If you ever do a part two on the millennium using the sanctuary, I would definitely watch that. You might be saying, whew, o'boy, now more studying. I:ll assure you that you will be more rewarded in this study then your viewers who will view it. The sanctuary helps us how to understand type, and symbolism, and to think spiritually in character development. The Most Holy Place is a spiritual city where spiritual Israel lives, a city where Abraham wants to live that is built by God. And from that Holy City is where the 7 pillars of faith came from. The 144,000 consist of the 12 tribes of Israel which in todays terms is the whole church that makes through the final shaking who stand on the 7 pillars of faith.

In her book, Prophets and Kings, Page 726, Ellen White uses Isaiah 24:1 as applying primarily to the great judgment day, and the day of the Lord. In other places in her writings, she plainly states that the prophets spoke less for their own day than for ours. Isaiah 24:10 applies to antitypical Babylon(the city of confusion).
@powerofthelamb Жыл бұрын
And she is not in error. But I don't see her using the word "primary" on page 726. Again, yes the prophets visions serve a dual purpose, but they would have made no sense to the people Isaiah was speaking to if he were only or primarily referring to events to happen thousands of years beyond their time.

@@powerofthelamb It's in the chapter called "Visions of Future Glory". It's about the church. The chapter applies many, many O.T. prophesies to the antitypical Israel(the church). Isaiah wasn't trying to make sense to those people. He didn't question the words which inspiration gave to him to write. The Israel of old stoned the prophets. They sure didn't read what they wrote. If they had, they wouldn't have crucified their Messiah. Please read that whole chapter. God bless. Teresa

Thank you, Pastor Meyers, for providing the reason Lucifer was banned from heaven being because he rejected God's mercy and because he did not ask for forgiveness due to pride. However, I do take issue with your thesis that Lucifer wanted to be the Holy Father and that his issues were with the Father. Patriarchs & Prophets (Chapter: Why Sin Was Permitted) clearly states: Lucifer "coveted the glory with which the infinite Father had invested in His Son, this prince of angels aspired to power that was the prerogative of Christ alone. . .To dispute the supremacy of the Son of God, thus impeaching the wisdom and love of the Creator, had become the purpose of this prince of angels."

haven't you read the Spirit of Prophesy? At the second coming, everything will be burnt up and destroyed. Every human being will be dead. That's why Satan is portrayed as being" bound" for a 1000 years.. He has nothing to do , no people to manipulate, just 1000 years to sit and think. Not his favorite thing at all. He's bound here on the earth. He can't leave. Where the "earthly millennium" came from, is jesuit futuristic philosophy made up in the 1500's, error that most protestants have swallowed , and falsely use O.T. prophesy to back it up. It's garbage. God bless as you study. I suggest you start with the Conflict of the Ages series by Ellen. G. White.. The first one is "Prophets and Kings." It will make the Bible come to life. Sincerely, Teresa

“There shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning.” 2 Peter 3:3, 4. Do we not hear these very words repeated, not merely by the openly ungodly, but by many who occupy the pulpits of our land? “There is no cause for alarm,” they cry. “Before Christ shall come, all the world is to be converted, and righteousness is to reign for a thousand years. Peace, peace! all things continue as they were from the beginning. Let none be disturbed by the exciting message of these alarmists.” But this doctrine of the millennium does not harmonize with the teachings of Christ and His apostles. Jesus asked the significant question, “When the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8. And, as we have seen, He declares that the state of the world will be as in the days of Noah. Paul warns us that we may look for wickedness to increase as the end draws near: “The Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” 1 Timothy 4:1. The apostle says that “in the last days perilous times shall come.” 2 Timothy 3:1. And he gives a startling list of sins that will be found among those who have a form of godliness. - {PP 102.2} When the reasoning of philosophy has banished the fear of God’s judgments; when religious teachers are pointing forward to long ages of peace and prosperity, and the world are absorbed in their rounds of business and pleasure, planting and building, feasting and merrymaking, rejecting God’s warnings and mocking His messengers-then it is that sudden destruction cometh upon them, and they shall not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:3. - {PP 103.3}

All things were made by him and for him and without him was not anything made that was made”. This is Christ. The land was made by him and for him. The land is the church which Christ inherited upon his resurrection. He brought the first fruit of that land upon the feast of first fruit. The land is a land with potential, very fruitful,which will be proven when the Lord returns and his work is before him.

The thing that trips people up about passages like this is TIMING! There IS a dual application there. As Pastor Myers says, it was not fulfilled because the Jews did not accept Jesus. Pastor Myers also correctly dividing the Word that the “1,000 year reign” is in Heaven, not on Earth. However, what God did not do (because the Jews rejected the Messiah), He will still bring to pass AFTER the Millennium, when the New Jerusalem moves from Heaven to Earth. Revelation 21 makes this clear enough. All those OT prophecies with “apocalyptic language” work if you apply them to the New Earth AFTER the 1,000 years and judgement of the wicked are finished.

Could the same be said about Zechariah 14? Toward the end of that entire passage, it starts to talk about people coming to keep the feast of tabernacles and those who don't will be smote with a plague. Sounds odd that people would be smote with a plague. If this is referring to the end of time versus Old Jerusalem.

Isaiah 24 opens with the following words 'Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof' Making the earth empty definitely is end time, did not apply to destruction of Jerusalem by Babylonians, this verse sets the tone for the whole chapter, there is a repeated emphasis on the word the earth mourneth, the earth is defiled, fear is upon the inhabitants of the earth. The earth is utterely broken down, the earth reels to & fro like a drunkard, This is definitely end time language. The city of confusion is always Babylon not Jerusalem.......Babylon that great city will be remembered by God and will dealt with. The punishment of the host of the high ones is Satan and his angels (Ephesians 6:12) and the kings of earth (Revelation 19:19-21). Notice that they are punished twice, at his coming they are consumed by the brightness of his coming, they seek to hide from Him who is sat on the throne. After the millennium, they are resurrected and face the record and the punished again. Isaiah uses the word after 'many days', he doesn't say millennium. The chapter concludes by saying the moon will be confounded and the sun ashamed when the Lord reigns, this is Revelation 21:23, This chapter for me does not apply to destruction by the Babylonians. In Jeremiah 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. 24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. 25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. 26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce anger. 27 For thus hath the Lord said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end. Without form and void refers to the condition of the earth during the millennium after the coming of our Lord. The 7 last plagues & destruction described in Isaiah 24 will return the earth to its pre creation chaos. The redeemed will be saved. God will not make a full end because the full end will be after the Millennium, You can read Revelation 6:14-17 which alludes to this prophecy by Jeremiah. I agree with the rest that Pastor said, just these two passages I don't agree that they referred to destruction by Babylonians.
@powerofthelamb Жыл бұрын
Isaiah 24 and Jer 4 certainly allude to the final day of the Lord, but their primary reference is Jerusalem's destruction. In the same way that most people see the book of Joel and certainly speaking of the end of the world, "Joe 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come" yet Peter on the day of Pentecost applied the text under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit to the coming destruction of Jerusalem by Rome. Or consider the book of Malachi where the prophet "elijah" was to be sent before the "Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:". Yet the primary fulfilment of this verse was in John the baptist, and the day of the Lord here referred to is again the same day of the Lord referred to by Joel, the destruction of Jerusalem by Rome. Jeremiah 4, is primarily speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem by Babylon. "Jer 4:1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove...Jer 4:5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities. Jer 4:6 Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction." The same is true of Isaiah 24. . Here is Barnes on verse 1: "Maketh the earth empty - That is, will depopulate it, or take away its inhabitants, and its wealth. The word ‘earth’ here (ארץ 'ārets) is used evidently not to denote the whole world, but the land to which the prophet particularly refers - the land of Judea. It should have been translated the land (see Joe_1:2). It is possible, however, that the word here may be intended to include so much of the nations that surrounded Palestine as were allied with it, or as were connected with it in the desolations under Nebuchadnezzar." Here's FB on the city of confusion "city of confusion - rather, “desolation.” What Jerusalem would be; by anticipation it is called so. Horsley translates, “The city is broken down; it is a ruin.”

Ellen White says "Chapters 58-66 of Isaiah deals with God's delivered people and future glory." God's delivered people are antitypical Israel, and the future glory is the new earth. In another place, Great Controversy page 676, she says Isaiah 65: 19 pertains to New Jerusalem.
@powerofthelamb Жыл бұрын
Agreed. In a secondary sense yes. Do you see this verse as happening in the future glory? Isa 65:19 "And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. Isa 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. Isa 65:21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them." We must be careful, and let the Bible interpret the Bible, and if we do this right, we will see that the Bible and the writings on SOP match perfectly. Otherwise we end up in contradiction having to agree with others that the millennium will be a time when children die of old age.
@richardhurd2716 Жыл бұрын
@@powerofthelamb Yes, absolutely. Don't you believe in the new Jerusalem? As for Isa. 65:20, the early Adventists believed this refers to when the wicked are resurrected after the 1000 years, when Satan summons them one more time to battle the New Jerusalem. In that case there would be newborns that would die at the end of those 100 years. I found this information in searching through old Signs of the Times magazines.

Jer 4:7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant. This is a fulfillment of Lev 26:22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate." Beware, this guy is a false preacher! When it comes to Isaiah 24, it is clearly talking about the end of the world. First, In verse 1 Isaiah used the term "the Lord turns the earth turned upside down", which implies the whole world. He never the term "Israel" or "Jerusalem" in that chapter! Second, in verse 6, it says that the inhabitants of the earth are "burned", and "few men are left", which refers to the 144,000 who will be alive when the Lord returns. Third, verse 10 mentions "the city of confusion", is a reference to Babylon, which in the last days will be practically the world whole gone astray following the first Beast of Revelation 13, that had been mortally wounded, but was healed and did live. Fourth, verses 14-15 and the first sentence of verse 16 refers to the righteous who will be resurrected from all parts of the earth, including the isles of the sea! And the second part of verse 16 until verse 18 is clearly speaking of the punishment to the wicked. Fifth, verses 19-20 are in reference to the global earthquake which is the first part of the 7th plague of Revelation 16 (the second part of the 7th plague is the great hail the weight of a talent). Sixth, verses 21-22 refer to God punishing Satan and his fallen angels (the host of the high ones that are on high), AND the kings of the earth, which are on the earth (a clear distinction between those two groups). They shall both be "shut up in prison , and after many days shall they be visited."....that is referring to the millennium, not to the Jews exile in Babylon! And finally, verse 23 is clearly in reference of the new earth in post millennium. The moon being "confounded" and the sun "ashamed" are in clear reference to Isaiah 60:19-20, which shows the conditions of the new earth, in which God Himself will be its everlasting light and He shall reign in Mount Zion before His ancients (the 24 elders) gloriously!

Here is John Gill on verse 1. "Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty,.... Some, by the "earth", only understand the land of Israel or Judea, and interpret the prophecy of the captivity of the ten tribes by Shalmaneser, as Kimchi, and other Jewish writers; and others, of the destruction of the Jews by Nebuchadnezzar; but some take in along with them the neighbouring nations who suffered by the same princes at the same time." As far as verse 6, and "few men left" Deu 4:26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed. Deu 4:27 And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, ***👉🏽and ye shall be left few in number👈🏽*** among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you. Clear reference to what happened under Babylon. As far as being burned in the same verse 6: "Jer 38:23 So they shall bring out all thy wives and thy children to the Chaldeans: and thou shalt not escape out of their hand, but shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and 👉🏽thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire."👈🏽 Ezekiel verifies this. Eze 12:13 My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there. Eze 12:14 And I will scatter toward every wind all that are about him to help him, and all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them. Eze 12:15 And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall scatter them among the nations, and disperse them in the countries. Eze 12:16 But 👉🏽I will leave a few men👈🏽 of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD. Regarding "the city of confusion", it is clearly Jerusalem, as two verses later it says "Isa 24:12 In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction." What city was Isaiah warning of being left desolate? Jeremiah tells us. "Jer 9:11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; 👈🏽and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.👈🏽 Verses 14-15 and the resurrection are symbolic prophetic language for Jerusalem's return from being scattered by Babylon. Isa 43:5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; Isa 43:6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; I could go on, but you may as well call Peter a false preacher and prophet for saying Joel 2 which speaks of the day of the Lord and the moon turning to blood, and sun not giving its light, and calls it clearly the "day of the Lord" was fulfilled during Pentecost. Where did the moon turn to blood or sun not shine? Unless you understand the day of the Lord motif of Scripture, you will make the same mistake many others are making. Here is Peter's full sermon. "Act 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: Act 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

I tried to wait till the end but who is deciding what the authors writings meant. Like you’re trying soooo hard to convince us that these prophetic writings are do not have future application when it very clearly does… I’ll definitely be circling back around with time stamped objections but my brother with love, you should not be teaching on this subject. Like you want so badly for it not to have future applications when it in fact points to something sooo beautiful that is happening in the future.

On standby. Teach me. Maybe you weren’t listening closely. I am not saying these do not foreshadow future events but rather that these are not the primary applications. But yes, teach me since I do not know. :)

@@powerofthelamb to begin let me say my apologies if my original comment caused offense. I want you to know that I approach you as a brother and hope I can also be received as one. I wanted to reply sooner but unfortunately for me life hasn’t allowed me to so and while drafting out these points I’m realizing this would be a lot for a comment section. Please allow me to follow up via email with the extended response. But in an attempt to keep it brief I’ll put it like this… I noticed that the way of interpreting some of the apocalyptic prophetic text mentioned are not applied as they should. The interpretation that some of the prophetic text that were speaking specifically to the destruction and exile of those in the days the prophets cannot be taken and applied to others that clearly speak of a more future time period. Second no reader can understand the book of Revelation without the Old Testament. To say that we shouldn’t use themes, imagery, and style of writings from the old to understand to the new wild to me; especially when much of John’s book is literally taken from these Old Testament prophetic books. That’s just bad literary analysis. And finally I’ll land my plane here my final objection. You made some of the prophesies written conditional as if all of the prophesies written of this nation coming together to be a nation again was something that was conditional upon them doing something. The beauty of the whole thing that’s being worked out is that we who may be numbered among the gentiles already know that our salvation “the promises of God” is not gained by our works and in like manner those counted as His chosen ppl the 12 tribes when these prophesies are fulfilled it will be in-spite of their/our failings. I ask you and everyone else to sit down with Ezekiel 36 really take in all of what is being said; word for word, sentence for sentence. Understand Ezekiel 36:16-24. Idk why we would be against any of this. We should pray to see this day but we’ve been taught otherwise by well meaning leaders. Seek to understand all of Ezekiel 36 then read Revelation chpt 18-21 then right after go and read again Ezekiel 36-39. Tried to keep it brief if time will allow I’ll try to give a better breakdown but I hope this has been clear and again received in love. If I need correcting I am definitely open to it. Look forward to hearing from you brother
Hey Phillip, confusing only if one has bought into a false narrative of the subject.
