*Correction* 16 people got straight A+. Chin Lai only does calculus, he forgot to add ^2 behind the 4. (prolly why he didn't get into Stanford) Nonetheless, still a small percentage!

Just to add, the minimum requirements change every year. During my time (SPM 2014), the minimum was 7A+, 2A-, inclusive of Maths and/or Science subjects if I’m not mistaken :) Anyhow congrats and all the best for your future endeavors! Looking forward for more videos hehe.

Thanks for the info! Fortunately many scholarship bodies have diversified what they’re looking for from candidates instead of emphasising academic excellence. Hope the trend continues!

@PavithranIlangko3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely buddy, 8A’s is an excellent result slip to flaunt. If you’re aiming for a full scholarship however, the chances are slim and you’ll need excellent CCA’s to support your application. It also depends on what A’s you’re talking about. Some scholarship bodies exclude A-‘s in their measure. Others have mandatory A solid minimum requirements for core subjects. Wish you the best of luck!

Hii! Can I ask...how long was Chin Lai on the waiting list before being accepted?

May I know what is your SPM result and how do you know that chin lai was in the waiting list😄
@sanjaynambiar726 Жыл бұрын
Hi there. I was just scrolling through. Did you eventually get accepted? Cos I'm on the waiting list myself now.
@CC-zi7yu Жыл бұрын
@@sanjaynambiar726 hi...nope I was just left on the waiting list...on the portal it showed KIV but it never changed. Then the application portal was closed. So, I assume it was a rejection after being kept on the waiting list. (even though I had 10As and multiple state level sports + loads of other awards in academics and non-academics). But I have no clue why though...because some people (mostly of a certain race) with 8A and 9A were accepted even though they had fewer awards and non-academic stuff.
@CC-zi7yu Жыл бұрын
@@sanjaynambiar726 I wish you all the best, hope you get selected! But even if you don't, know that there are many pros to not being bonded with a scholarship from a company. For example, PESP, you are required to serve a certain number of years for Petronas. Knowing that you have no choice but to serve the company (unless you pay the full amount and leave), Petronas (and other companies) can assign you to a low paying position/ a position which you would rather not work as, and you would be forced to agree and accept the position due to the bond. However, another graduate who upon graduation wants to work for Petronas, can apply for a position in the company. If the student is unique and exceptional, Petronas (or any other company) will do their best to convince, persuade and hire the graduate to work for their company...this includes better perks, higher salary, and a better position. For example: Student A and Student B both did a level, both studied abroad in the same prestigious university and are now both ready to begin working. Student A is a PESP scholar and Student B is not. Both Student A and B are exceptional students and would be great assets to any company. Petronas knows that Student A is bonded to their company so they can just give him/her any position, salary etc in order to have him/her work for the company. Student B who is not bonded is free to choose whichever company he/she wants to work for. Petronas wants Student B to work for them and therefore would need to put in more effort, perks to get Student B to work for the company. So, while yes, PESP students get a monthly allowance, tuition fees paid, field trips, etc., in the long run, are they actually the ones with the advantage?

@@sanjaynambiar726 also, there are tons of scholarships for A level by the private universities themselves :) With good results and non-academic awards, you'll have a high chance of receiving a full scholarship too and plus, there's no bond

Hi. I just got my pesp from petronas. May i know if it is possible to change my course to my 2nd choice?
Hi, i just graduated like last month. And the answer is no. I had a friend who did mechanical engineer up to 2nd year and ge wanted to change to ICT, but PETRONAS didnt let him. But you could try contacting the officers since you just recieve the Scholarship. Either way, congratz for your hardwork!
