It's so rare to find a Black man's perspective on b-school here on YT. I'm hoping to matriculate into school this fall. I didn't apply to Wharton but this is still very help and insightful. I appreciate it! One question, you say it's hard to fail, is that why I don't hear people talk about homework? Do you get homework? haha

Super insightful, love from the UK - Stanford and Wharton are my top 2 schools currently studying for the GMAT, if you have any tips for that please do share!
@tylerejackson23 сағат бұрын
Hey, thanks for the love from the UK! 🎯 For the GMAT, I highly recommend Target Test Prep for quant and the Critical Reasoning Bible for CR. The key is to keep fighting, stay disciplined and believe in your breakthrough moment. It took me 4 tries to score well enough for the best schools. Don’t hesitate to invest in resources if they’ll help you succeed. You’ve got this!

Hey Tyler, Quite a few Questions here. Thanks in advance, love your content!, true to the core :) 1. What did your class look like? I mean which nationalities and conversations felt like each and every classmate? 2. Interview prep and interview experience? 3. Can u estimate an outside classroom expense? (trips, daily meets with industry experts, lunch with profs, etc)
@tylerejackson23 сағат бұрын
Hey Pranay, thanks so much for your thoughtful questions and kind words I’m glad you’re enjoying the content! 🙌🏾 I love that you’re curious about the MBA experience; there’s so much to unpack. I’ll definitely consider these topics for a future video, but here’s a quick overview: - My class is incredibly diverse, with students from all over the world and from every socioeconomic background bringing unique perspectives, it’s been amazing learning from them! - Interview prep was a breeze for me but that’s a personality thing. My biggest hurdle was getting the interview. - Outside-the-classroom expenses can add up, especially with trips and networking events, but it’s all about balancing what matters most. At a place like this, these are million dollar relationships and you’ll regret penny pinching more than saving a few thousand dollas. Stay tuned for more detailed content on this soon!

I’m a vet as well and Wharton is my #1. This may be pretty personal but would you be interested in sharing your application material? Resume, essays, etc in like a google drive? Maybe a weird request but I think seeing shit like that kinda helps conceptualize what a package should look like. Either way, great content here man. Hope the new school year is smooth

Thanks for watching! Not a weird request at all - i’m working with someone to make my applications and resumes available. I can’t promise it’ll be free though 👀😂

Hey Tyler! Appreciate your videos especially with that pinch of humor you add in your content ❤ I am an Iranian and I would like to ask, if I crack every aspect of the application i.e. GPA, GMAT, Work experience and essay, what are my chances of getting in? How diverse is Wharton? How about the Financial aid? Would absolutely love to hear your response 🎉
@tylerejackson4 ай бұрын
Hey, I really appreciate the kind words! If you crack every aspect of the application-GPA, GMAT, work experience, and essay-you’re definitely setting yourself up for success! While I can’t quantify your exact odds, focusing on the test scores, GPA, and, most importantly, telling a compelling story in your essay will put you in a strong position. As for financial aid, it’s a personal decision, but remember this investment is in your future, your legacy, and not just two years of your life. Make sure it’s worthwhile for YOU and YOUR long-term goals. In terms of diversity, Wharton is a pretty diverse place. I’d recommend Googling 'Wharton MBA program diversity' and checking out the stats there. Best of luck on your journey, and thanks so much for watching and supporting the channel! 🎉

I want to go to Wharton just to join AAMBAA Are there any AAMBAA events coming up that prospective students can attend?
@tylerejackson4 ай бұрын
😂 AAMBAA is a vibe! Unfortunately our events are for Wharton students and partners. Hustle on the application and you can join as a student

Thanks for the video Tyler. My question is: Do you think that the money investment is actually worth it? Becuase the tuition is very high, the cost of living and activities are expensive, the travel experiences I bet are expensive. Do you think, that the massive investment is worth it in your perception as a current student? (because asking a graduated person is totally different).
@tylerejackson4 ай бұрын
Great question! For me, an astounding YES it’s worth it because I know I’ll make it worth it. The key is defining what you truly want in life and determining how an MBA from the right school can help you get there. The MBA is just one tool in your toolkit - it’s up to you to leverage it to open the doors that matter most to you. If you can see how this investment aligns with your goals, growth, and your legacy (family, kids, their kids) that’s when it becomes invaluable.

I’m a black army infantry veteran with an 3.0 in undergrad. How can I make myself competitive
@tylerejackson4 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for sharing, and I can definitely relate. I was actually in a tougher spot, so trust me when I say it's possible. It all depends on how much time you have before applying. Personally, I focused on telling my story powerfully in my application-highlighting the 'distance traveled' in my journey. To strengthen my profile, I knocked out close to a 4.0 GPA in a master’s program, attended several school conferences, and enrolled in pre-MBA programs to better understand the application process. I also took on challenging leadership roles in my career. This approach worked for me, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. The key is finding your own way to show growth and resilience through your unique experiences, and show how you will add value to your colleauges. God bless and thanks for watching!

@@tylerejackson Absolutely! No worries, I figured MBA is keeping you busy. I’ve two questions: 1) How was your interview experience at Wharton? What can one do to stand out? 2) I wanted to know a bit about the WGA from the President itself , haha. You talked about some of the clubs, what’s your thought about WGA role in enhancing the MBA experience in terms of overall value, networking opportunities and balancing other extracurriculars/studies with WGA? What’s the process of being a WGA president? What’s a role of a WGA president and other leadership roles?
@tylerejackson23 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the thoughtful questions! - My Wharton interview experience was a bit unique, it’s a team-based discussion, so standing out means showing leadership and collaboration. Be prepared to contribute thoughtfully while supporting your team’s ideas. Practice articulating your points clearly and listen actively. - The WGA plays a huge role in shaping the MBA experience, from creating networking opportunities to enhancing club and academic experiences. It’s all about balancing priorities and finding ways to make an impact. I’m planning a video to dive deeper into the role of WGA President, so stay tuned for that!
