Have followed you about 2 years and took up golf, took the advice of buying used quality equipment Ping G400 and G410. Found that golf wasn't for me, just sold my golf clubs for what I paid for them 18 months ago. Will continue to follow you as I do like the content that you produce, thanks for the informed advice.

What a great video. I cannot agree more. I am always trying to max my speed. I do speed training in the winter months. My average speed is around 86 mph. Would love to get 90+ but a 67 I am really trying to maintain year over year. My carry is probably around 185 average. The last year I have been working on the consistent strike point and what a difference. Do not worry about the speed, worry about the strike.

Smart approach. Another smart approach would involve deporting Trudeau to Cuba IMMEDIATELY. Make it happen. Make Canada Great Again.

I'm 75 and like you, Dave, I'm trying to max my clubhead speed. My carry is about the same as yours, and I've been following the techniques of Kirk Junge to focus more on keeping the club square at impact and on a single plane. I've had steady improvements this past year, and I hope to build on that when the season opens in 2025.

I don't think that many know what they hit with a driver. In recent lessons the Pro asked me what I hit. I said about 225 carry, 235 with the once in a round sweet one when the timing is spot on. 200 with that stinker out of the heel. A couple of dozen shots on GC Quad later and those figures proved correct. We worked on posture, ball position, tee height to get a little more efficient. But I'll bet most will over estimate what they carry.

Absolutely on point with all your observations there, Simon👍 i’m 60 and playoff 5, I really couldn’t care less about all this quest for distance as long as im in the fairway. I could always make it up with the next shot. For almost 6 months of this year, I played with my four hybrid of the tee and still shot to my handicap. I’ve just put a QI 10 max in the bag and I’m noticing even more consistency now and distance. With regards to the golf balls, I try and tell some of my older and slow swing playing partners that using pro v1’s is killing their distance and the wasting their money but do they listen? Of course not 😂

My father, well into his 70's, would routinely collect on our bet, despite hitting his average drive 50 yards shorter than mine. Consistently playing out of the middle of the fairway and routinely getting up and down on the occasions he didn't hit the green, were more than a match for my length... especially when I was frequently playing from the rough.

I'm sitting here, watching you hit a 14° driver on a ladies shaft, at 73.1mph and laughing!!! Can't think why!!!!! I have to say, your tuition has introduced me to the "other" side of the golf course (mostly, the left side of the fairway though), and further up the fairway than i used to end up! Having got used to the technique (thanks to an exercise band - stop laughing!!!), I've forgotten how to slice the ball!!! Yes, with anything! Though it's somewhat embarrassing hitting a 60 yard wedge that far left of the green!!!! (Only joking, pilot error!!!). What a brilliant video!!! All you have to teach me next time we meet is how to hit the ball at 115mph???? Simple????

Great video, sound advice. I am one of those mid handicap players that can hit a driver over 300 yards, but my consistency or lack of it kills my scores.

I believe in the 2.4 yards per mph of club head speed. I have an Garmin R10 for measuring and swing driver around 105-110 CHS. Carry is usually 250-275 carry based on strike. 3 wood swing speed of 100-105 with carry around 220-240. My gamer driver is a Stealth 2 with stiff Kai'li White 60 gram shaft.

Perfect timing and another great video. Driver is the weakest part of my game. I'm in the mid 90 mph swing speed group and have settled on 10.5 degree head and a stiff counter balanced shaft that's a bit on the softer flex side. What are your thoughts on appropriate shaft length at these swing speeds or is this more over thinking? Mizuno's 230 Max comes with a standard length 45 3/4" shaft which seems a bit on the long side to me. I'd value your guidance on what the set and forget driver shaft length should be at these swing speeds for a person that plays standard length clubs.
@robbynhorob6058Күн бұрын
Thats complete true, but not for all. I played ages a stiff 10 - 11,5 Driver to lower spin and get more height. I made a cheap test and get a old used 45 gr. A-Flex with 95 - 102 mph to test the "cheap autoflex" played with 9,5. And? After some rounds i am average straighter and longer with same headspeed. Good stuff like always

90% of amateur golfers has a swing speed below 95 mph thats why brands are still increasing shafts length
@JeremiahAlphonsusКүн бұрын
I think you're right about that 90% figure. However, I've heard it said that the average male driver swing speed is 94 mph. I don't believe this.
@ammartinezguzmanКүн бұрын
@@JeremiahAlphonsus that rate you mention come from the average handicap for male golfers which is 14-15 and the respective speed set at 94-95 mph, that's right. If you take ALL amateur golfers including juniors, ladies, seniors, etc. just a 10% usually lower handicapers will exceed that speed. The data is online through various sources and it's true

Simon, you're speaking about me. My nickname is 'nice drive Darren '. 300-plus yards still in my late 50s, but how often? Is the most frustrating thing in the world when you larap one in the middle of the fairway, 50 yards past my playing partners, and I'm writing 1 more than them on the scorecard more often than not. Can't putt for toffee.
@sirtogii5216Күн бұрын
Very valid points. Unless you play on overly long and wide courses which there are few of in the UK, the difference between a 280 and 300y drive is negligible. More likely the longer drive will find some rubbish the 275 one couldn't. The advantage of speed I reckon is higher with the rest of the bag. To be able to grab a 6 iron instead of a hybrid on a par 3 or longer par 4. A 9 iron instead of a 6 etc.
@Kalle-qj3hjКүн бұрын
I think more people should consider higher lofted drivers. In my case, my miss is a low launch hook/big draw, and those type of swings turn out way better with higher driver loft. Being in the rough instead of trouble on a bad shot is worth more than 10 yards extra off a perfect drive… I think way too many people have too low a loft, including casual players with 10,5 drivers.
