They should make a room just for those type of people just incase they don't want to socialize
@kanadajin38 жыл бұрын
WTF buzzfeed. The subtitles are VERY wrong. She DOES NOT say that they demand phone numbers and it disturbs her, she just says "sometimes they ask for contact info and that happens often at maid cafes". She also does NOT say anything about sexual stuff She didn't say "Theres some people who mistake it for the sex industry and think they can touch my body'. She said "The misunderstanding is they ask if they can sit with me or drink alcohol with me". Your subs make it seem horrible. Maid cafes are not a sexual place, in Japan we got hooker shops for that. Maid cafes are not even an adult like place, we got kyabakura and host clubs for that. Maid cafes are just a place where you get people to act weird, draw cute cakes and give you cute drinks. Theres 0% sexual about it. Its not any type of dating service either. It is just like if you were to go to a clown themed place where people dress as clowns, or a monster cafe where people dress like monsters. It is a themed cafe.

This pisses me off. I speak Japanese. At 2:04 when the subtitles say “They think they can touch my body” that is not what she said at all. She said “they want to sit next to me and drink with me.” It’s disgusting that Buzzfeed would completely lie and twist this girl’s words to just make this video more interesting. Journalism is dead.

The food wasn't top notch but it was still good and the Maids with their cheerful energy made it all fun. Would definitely recommend to visit at least once to experience it. Honestly, as long as the people who visit respect the girls, then I see no problem with it. It's just cute girls wanting to do cute things in a cute setting wanting to have a cute time. It's the same with host cafes, trap cafes (yes they are real). It's a cultural thing that these people enjoy. Actually, some fans of Japan culture here in the states have started to create their own version for events and what not. While there really are no official shops yet I don't think, it is starting to increase more and more in the states as well.

This honestly looks like it could be therapeutic. Like if I’m having a super sad day where I’d feel alone, I’d love to be around people who look like they’re happy to see me. Even if it is just part of the job. At least these girls look like they’re genuinely having fun. Their cheeriness can be contagious, I bet.
@natalieklein99454 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I don't see why people call this 'sad' or 'weird' tbh. Walt Disney has adapted this concept to the western market with Disneyland after all, and nobody would consider that weird or sad. People need a place where they can feel welcomed and given attention to, and I feel a café like this, when taken for what it is, is no different.
@hyukleberry55674 жыл бұрын
@@natalieklein9945 disneyland is about making kids happy. maid cafes specifically caters to grown, lonely weird men who overstep and cant recognise they're just customers. it's really weird when the whole maid thing is about girls being a subordinate to customers who would probably mainly be men. it's also heavily sexualised. in general, anything that has young girls acting like this to men doesn't sit right with me because of the rampant sexism and pedophilia in societies. that's mostly the fault of japanese media tho. the concept of a cafe where everyone is happy go lucky could've been so cute
@natalieklein99454 жыл бұрын
@@hyukleberry5567 oh yeah, I totally forgot that Disneyland is just for kids 😑 and if you've ever worked as a cast member for Disney (especially portraying a female character) you know that a lot of dads can't keep their hands to themselves while taking pictures btw, but sure, I guess that isn't considered inappropriate to you. @@ma.jbrony1754 Japan has gradually become much more open in recent years concerning the topic of tattoos, compared to the past few decades. Younger people especially display much fewer prejudices or disdain towards tattoos, and increasing numbers of younger Japanese casually get a tattoo as a fashion statement or lifestyle choice-a rather global trend. An increase in international tourists coming to Japan may also influence this change of thinking. And I'm pretty sure that's tourism magnet.
