So I was born and lived in Romania (in a village nearby Resita ) for the first 11 years of my life, my and other villages speak Croatian/Serbian, witchcraft is really common in Balkan and especially Romania I‘m happy to know that our villages are related to Serbia and Vlash is basically romanian. “witchcraft“ is not always bad it’s most of the time fortune telling or helping people with their problems in life. Also in Romania astrology and crystals are popular so no wonder why everyone doesn’t have anything against witchcraft.

fortune telling is evil, only God knows the future, past and present, not other people and you turn to God alone with problems in your life, not to other people, this is the problem with witchcraft, it goes against God. Seek God, not fortune tellers and witches.

Vlach 'magic' is still very prevalent in eastern Serbia. My family and I are Vlach and we moved to London but every summer when we visit; someone will leave something like a feather or an apple on top of our very front gate so that when you open it, it falls on you. It happened to me once, a funeral procession past by our house which is located near the cemetery and as I walked in a feather fell on my arm. I simply laughed it off but a few days later I told my family and that's when death-con 5 was engaged. My family began sprinkling the house with 'holy water' and moaned at me for being so 'ignorant'. A lot of people complained about this documentary but I think it was pretty fascinating to see how these people actually did readings. Here in the UK you get those bullshitters with tarot cards, but it was awesome to see how religious Orthodoxy is mingled in with 'dark magic' and how the two juxtapose one and other; it provides a fascinating insight in to a culture that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

Tarrort cards have more power than you think its just than in the UK they cannot use them my nan who reads peoples fate using tarrot cards is lithuanian i myself am half russian half lithuanian and she had once read a friends fate not my friend but one of my mothers and she had read that there that her life would fall unstable and that it would lead to her death later on it turned out that the person had betrayed many people, she became crazy and eventually ended up comitting suicide

@@nagihangot6133 "voodoo" (Vodou) is actually African in origin, being brought over from West Africa by the slaves of the Dahomey Kingdom, who practiced the religion of Vodoun, vodou's predecessor. @Marcelo Brozovic there are damaging implications (especially in the case if African and african-derived religions) when a religion is mislabeled and disassociated from it's cultural setting and definitions. Voodoo is practiced by initiation only. One cannot "do voodoo" without initiation. The result is people mistakenly identifying witchcraft as voodoo and vice versa when the two are not synonymous. Then you have adherents to voodoo being demonized as "witches" when they are not. Voodoo is a defined religious system with a complex culture and history behind it, and should not be mistaken for general witchcraft. Labeling general witchcraft as voodoo is like going to a pagan temple and calling it church.

It may just be a generational or "Millennial" thing, but the host showed little respect, if any for the subject. His arrogance and weak delivery made this, video quite boring, displaying the culture as seen in a Blair Witch Project light, presenting it as creepy. It's because he didn't respect the subject enough! He is a little boy playing with his friends and video cameras. This video provided nothing, no information, no data, no details, nothing. These women saw the truth in him, as did I watching this 20 minute video of his vain glorious minor trek across the country side propagandizing mediocre modern media norms : hype, weak journalism, the show and attention is just about him. This was awful and how it depicted our Vlach people was weak as water and macabre. Some people said the host was rude, but, whereas if this was US this would be rude, it sounded natural in the context. Men carry out the traditions of keeping the churches sacred, while the women pass on the gift of witchcraft. I find this to be a powerful statement regarding the state of things in the world surrounding religious expression, exclusion, oppression/suppression of personal beliefs based on our understanding of them from outside. I would be pleased to see more about witchcraft around the world. It seems the last few ways for women to be in religious power anymore is in Satanism or dark magic. It's not voodoo, it's Vlach magic. African voodoo is its own thing, different from Vlach magic, which is different from Satanist witchcraft which is different from Wiccan witchcraft. There are lots of different kinds of witchcraft and I wish the producers of this video would honor that not all forms of witchcraft or magic are the same thing by calling this Vlach magic.

I love these Elders, they are sacred. The term “Witch” is a negative connotation perpetuated by the West. I am a proud Aje aka Bruja, healer...I would love to sit with both these elders for a spell, not to long however for I am a solitary Aje. They have much to share. Bless them and the Brotha Galeb.❤️

I don't know if the term "witch" was used as a negative connotation in the past but nowadays thousands of people identify as "witches" and are proud of it. Of course at any place of the world people use a different term for healers and people who practice divination, Cast spe9etc.

This reminds me of my Grandmothers Aunt Connie. She was a little old Italian lady that practiced a kind of Italian folk witchcraft. Sort of like Italian Santeria.

I'm upset at one of the opening comments. Vodoun is not witchcraft nor is it black magic. It's a legitimate Haitian religion with influences from West and Central African traditions and born in the era of African enslavement. Equating Voodoo with black magic or evil is essentially racist, anti-black, and anti-Haitian. It's reminiscent of the fears French, British, and Spanish soldiers had when they lost a colony to an army of Black men and women, demonizing their campaign and undermining their capacity to forge a state of their own. I would ask that Vice be a little more careful about how it informs its audience. I also ask that this be renamed.

Just by using voodoo to ruin someone's life and force him/her into depression or even to commit a suicide tells you that it's the work of the devil. And voodoo is used mostly for exactly that

Just seeing the dance, the terrible screeching and screaming and throwing bones is enough of an indicator for me that it is indeed a satanism. I don't have to watch a Hollywood movie to see it

Not surprised at all. Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia were the last practicing Pegans in Europe, if not the world. Resisted conversion to Christianity very fiercely. Even in their today's christian tradition's includes parts of Pegan rituals and traditions. It was the only way for them to convert to Christianity. Slavs even have their version of Zeus, Odin, Thor and other gods long before Celts and Vikings.

Milanka Sorokin it's tragic how Balkans Europe got trampled over by Turks, Russians and to a lesser extent Austrians. It would be interesting to see what culture would have thrived.

bro bosnians are predominantly muslims, they didn't resist much to Ottoman empire converting them, mostly because they didn't force them . I think where violence is used, the resistance is always greater than via peaceful means
