I'm from New Orleans and actually know a couple of the people that used to work at No Limit. The split between P & Mystikal was a mutual agreement. Mystikal, at the time, wuz one of the most sought after artist in the game. Everybody wanted Mystikal to appear on their song and P wouldn't allow it. Mystikal felt like this wuz causing him a lot of $$$ and when his contract with No Limit expired he didn't re-up. P tried to re-sign Mystikal but when Mystikal made it clear that he wanted to leave P handled it like a G and wished him the best of luck. Word is that P actually helped Mystikal get his deal wit Jive (not sho how true that is). Mystikal still hung out wit the fellows and they all remained friends. Wen Mystikal got out of prison and wuz offered a contract by Cash Money Records, the first call that Mystikal made wuz to P to get his blessing (shows the respect that they had for each other). As far as $$$ goes, Mia X verified that P NEVER messed over any of his artists wen it came to getting paid (unlike Baby wit Cash Money). There were sum artists on No Limit that felt like they should've been getting more $$$ but P paid them according to wat their contract called for. Mia X said that P bought in financial advisors that taught all of this artist how to save their $$$ and how to invest it. P made sho that all of his people got paid. Sum of the jealously within the ranks started wen P appeared on the Forbes Richest list. P busted his azz to make that company into sumthin and a couple of newbies thought that the company couldn't survive w/o them, boy were they wrong. P had offers from ALL of the majors labels to sell No Limit and remain as CEO on salary. P turned down all of the offers and instead signed a distribution deal with Priority Records which paid No Limit a $375,000 advance AND 75% of the wholesale price for every album sold. This deal was unheard of at the time b/c only established stars like Michael Jackson had these kind of deals. PLUS, No Limit kept ALL of it's master recordings. That's why wen an a No Limit artist said they were unhappy and wanted to leave, P shook their hand and wished them the best of luck. Question for yall, how many artists had major success after they left No Limit? Kinda says it all doesn't it. You're talking about a company that sold 20 million albums just in the year 1998 alone. Wat P did wuz fugging amazing. He took the ghetto hustle to the corporate world and turned that sh!t into an empire and never messed over anybody doing it. Comedian Eddie Griffin said in an interview that when he was trying to get the movie Foolish made no major movie company would touch it. He said that P showed up in his dressing room at a comedy show and handed him a check for $1 million for the Foolish script. Why? B/c wen P and No Limit wuz a fledging company trying to make sum noise Eddie Griffin let them open for him at a show in New Orleans and P never forgot that love. A lot of yall probably don't know this but P paid for 50 Cent's first tour. Nobody really knows b/c P chose to keep his name low key as to not take away from 50's tour but 50 has confirmed this fact. P wuz a genius and it shows in his net worth and in the fact that you don't hear about him screwing people over. Just my 2 cents to add on to this story

P was and still that nigga. Like people want to hate and put dirt on his name, but you got to respect his hustle. Without P, there will be no Soulja slim, fiend, Mac, Mia X, mystical, etc. Both P and Mystikal are great creative artists and songwriters. The fact that P and his former artists still cool til this day is not only phenomenal, but shows black luv. I wish him and KLC would get a long especially Soulja slim. All I’m saying is PUT SOME RESPECT ON P’s NAME

Look, I was on No Limit. I do feel the artist and producers was more than what they were worth there. HOWEVER, at the end of the day, that was their contract that they signed and agreed to. At that time all they seen was getting out there and not the business. That's why nobody can sue P or get mad or feel played. Mia X was the smartest one that owns all of her publishing. All of this was in the contract that THEY SIGNED and agreed to.

The new producers wasn't from New York. They all from Louisiana and P changed the name to soulja production. P had artists from New York by the name short circuit and his two kids was in the group Lil soldiers and another artist name Slay Sean.

Christopher Williams And don’t forget Carlos who came to The Pound later stayed and did beats after the others left. Reginelli from Gambino said P did Carlos dirty by not paying him all his bread like he promised.

Suge is the reason snoop ended up on no limit, he gave snoops contract to a friend of his at priority who, then gave the contract to master p therefore, making snoop a no limit soldier

Toni - Yeh, I didn't think he fit in with No Limit either. But his family is from Mississippi, so in some ways it made sense.

P was one of the few that wasn't afraid of Suge. P visited Suge in jail to talk a deal with Suge to get Snoop to NL.

Mystikal should of stayed. The song shake yo ass n most of the album was done on No limit, then P let him go. KlC wasn't the producer's of the album it was Pherrel Neptune n other producer's. Mystikal then soon after went crashing down, so it wasn't worth it. P was making other moves n needed to switch cuz the feds was on him bad. So he put his focus on his son, that end up having a number 1record that pass MJ for the longest top record for that long. Made big deal with Universal n Nickelodeon. P never look bacc, its 2019 n still making big Moves. Tru smart Business Man
