I remember last time I did this challenge, I of course succeeded, I still remember the entire day until now, I was more productive and better at deep thinking for the time being, I actually went over 24 hours and on to 36+ hours. When I came back, I didn't know what to do with the phone, at that point...I realized how much of the time we all spend is all wasted, pointless waste or time, and it won't make things better. You know what makes things better? Leaving that phone for a day and while that, do stuff you like, embrace good habits, think deeply about your life, and think responsibly. Your life is right in your hands, the future starts *now* !

I got laid off last September. I went into a deep depression for long enough that by the time i had the energy to start job searching and get back to life, i no longer had internet or a phone, and i couldnt afford gas so i walked everywhere. After like, 4 or 5 days living like this, I became drastically and unexpectedly happier, more focused and more productive. I read a ton, i walked everywhere, i applied to jobs at the library miles away, i meditated, took ice baths and worked out hard. Pretty much went back to normal after my first paycheck returned life to normal.

@EmptyRedBullCan, I rarely use my cell phone, I am not on facebook, or twitter I mostly watch videos on my desktop computer, It is fun for me to watch videos, sit in silence hear the geese fly over my house or hear a train roaring down the railroad tracks there something about these noises that cause me to go back to my childhood life where I and my 10 siblings and parents lived miles from cities in a rural part of California and there was a creek that Spach water running down hill in the country I grew up without technology as a child. We had to make our toys most likely because our parents could not buy us toys. That what I remember watching this video. Thanks for your comment happy delay 2024 year.

I am 56 y/o and became deeply interested in philosophy about a year ago. My background is engineering with BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering and most of my career spent in aerospace leading to me eventually becoming an independent consultant in structural finite element methods. I am blessed to have three true friends whom I have known between 15 and 30 years. Since embarking on my philosophical journey focusing on Stoicism, I have found no one whom I can share this journey with or have meaningful conversations with regarding my philosophical beliefs. Thank you so much for your videos. I wish I had a friend like you.

hey aperture i have an idea, i thought it would be fun to go over topics on older videos to see if there's anything that can be added or changed. you come out with videos so often now, I thought it would be a good idea if you wanted to rest a bit. And personally there are some videos I could watch over and over. so seeing it in a different light or described in another way would still interest me. I don't know how repeating ideas will be looked upon though. Just thought it would be nice, and through my own research I've seen things i thought were true been disproven a lot over the past couple of years. so i thought the idea might have some value.

I agree with what you're saying, but it doesn't have to be so black and white. I deleted my social media accounts 6 years ago. Nowadays I rarely take my phone when I'm going to friends or family, or am I leaving it in my bag for example. At home, I have a place to put my phone, so I can't reach it when I'm doing other things at my desk. I use WhatsApp, but only checking 1 or 2 times a day, unless it's urgent (not that often). It's about making rules with yourself, for yourself. And yes, we do a lot online, but other people set expectations (society as well) to be online 24/7. That is 'normal', but actually quite abnormal. In the beginning people found it strange I quit social media, because everyone had it. Today, they either understand, don't know better, simply ignore or just don't care. They are used to the fact I don't reply immediately or within the same day. I know we are online a lot, but saying that seems to me as an excuse to withold yourself from changing. It takes courage, a lot more if you're the first one. But great things will happen because of it, trust me! People who are still my friends, respect me even more, because I'm authentic, doing and choosing things I believe in without caring what others might think. If friends left me because of it, then they weren't friends in the first place. Have a good one, stay strong! ❤

@0WhiteKnight0 the idea here isn't to stop using the phone forever, it's literally the first minutes of the video, he says that stop using your phone for a day and that might change the way you see your time spent on it, there are indeed benefits to using our phones, but most of us are beyond using it just for the benefits and are addicted to it
