good points about the price. Trucks used to have a much bigger work-only market. With the recent trend of people liking 4x4s again, this adds a whole new and frankly large money making segment into the HD pickup space. Like you said, the luxury features in these new trucks even at the mid-trim level are wayyyyy nicer than even the top trims from 10 years ago. They really are luxury vehicles wrapped into the platform of an extremely capable truck, and you definitely get what you pay for compared to back in the day. It is just such a shame that the segment has gotten so big in recent years that more consumer grade versions are being produced than fleet trucks, so small businesses that can't afford to put in a large factory order get screwed because there is so much markup since no one carries bare bones work trucks like that anymore.

I ordered my 2023 F250 diesel (standard) FX4 Lariat super crew in October 2022 and took delivery in April 2023. It cost just under $80K. Do I wish it cost less? Heck yes. At 62, it may be my last pickup I buy. I took a trip from Dallas to OKC and back and got 22.1 mpg over 500 miles which is better than my 2015 F150 Ecoboost 4x4 super crew. I ordered the 2015 and the 2023 from the Griffin fleet team at North Central Ford in Richardson TX. These guys provide the best buying experience of any dealer. They are very knowledgeable and put zero pressure on you. You order exactly what you want. You don’t have to deal with a stupid salesperson. In fact, you go to their building behind the dealership for everything including delivery. You do pay MSRP. FORD raised the price of my recent order $800 and they honored the price of the truck when I ordered it. There were no extra add-ones or F&I guys to deal with. I highly recommend! Oh, and the truck is great too. In October 2022 there were no examples of the 2023 Superduty to actually see. I did not order the Lariat ultimate package ( did not want the sunroof). The regular Lariat interior is different that the ultimate package, so be aware. I have the Baja color interior which is tan with black trim on the edges of the seats. The only thing that bothers me is the fabric like material on the dash and top of doors. Similar to what you would find on an XLT model that has fabric seats. My 2015 Lariat has leather in those interior places. The 12” screen is incredible as well as the B&O sound system (when in surround mode). The digital gauges are NOT good. I hope someone figures out how to customize the gauge screen because it sucks. Fuel, temp, etc are not that easy to read. Sorry for the long post, I tried to include some info not included in the video.😁

With the F350 I no longer need air bags in the front like I did with my old F250 and Boss 9'2" V plow. I had to air bag the rear of my old truck as well to keep the headlights out of the trees when towing skid steers with it. My only complaint with the truck is I was told by the dealership to order the smaller Sync 4 system to reduce the hold up on getting it built since I had waited over a year to even place the order. I never dreamt that the Sync 4 was not going to come with XM capabilities. Apple CarPlay doesn't work for shit in places that cell coverage isn't very good. I assumed if it had Sync I would be able to transfer over my XM subscription since XM has been a part of Sync from its beginning if I'm not mistaken. Other than that I can only praise this truck. I don't have the heads-up display in mine, but I did hear that you will want to watch your following distance because the replacement windshields for trucks with that option are very expensive.

I own a 2022 F350 Platinum in Carbonized Gray. I've had it now 13 months, and I special ordered it with every single option available (minus the $3K winch) and the price tag came out to $96K. Yes it's a high price, but when I looked at other options (different makers), there really wasn't another truck able compete with everything Ford offered. So far after 13 months and 26,000 miles of mostly highway driving, I would do it all again. The only benefit there would have been on waiting for the '23 verses buying the '22 is the heads-up display. All of the other cosmetic changes they added I don't really care for, especially the bed and bumper steps. I have since added a BDS 4" lift and 37" tires which make the truck look more proportionate in size and stance all the way around. This added another $15K . . . and I would have gladly paid Ford $111K ($96K + $15K) if it were offered as a factory setup. But not everyone is willing to pay over six figures for a truck - and I get it. But if you want the best it's gonna cost you. Gone are the days of getting a nice truck for around $60K. Hell, even a loaded F150 is $85K!

Good overall review, though I am basically a Ford guy so might be some bias there. One thing I will take a difference of opinion on is the reliability of the 10R140 transmission. There are a lot of them failing in the 60k-70k mile range. If you haven't heard about it, look up the "CDF bushing". Ford's lighter duty 10R80 has the same problem. The following review is the viewpoint of an Alaskan who has watched for 30+ years which trucks do best in the harshest environmental state in the union! I owned a brand new GMC 3500 HD. AT-4 with the Duramax Allison. I grew up on Fords, but because of spinal injuries in the military, I switched to GM’s for their soft or ride. I sold my new 2023 GMC with less than 500 miles on it. I replaced it with a 2024 Ford F350 Tremor. The GMC did have a slightly smoother ride due to its IFS. I think the perfect truck for Alaska in 2024 is a Ford frame and body with a 2024 GM interior, and a Cummins mated to a 10 speed Allison. Since such a truck does not exist, I think the Ford Tremor is the best especially for rugged harsh unforgiving places like my home state of Alaska. When I watched the TFL talking trucks guys compared heavy duty diesels in the snow they don’t even know what snow is! One reason I got rid of my new 2023 GMC is the lack of ground clearance on their supposed off-road version and the fact they have the front end, squatting lower with an extremely heavy diesel engine in it. I have learned over the years in Alaska. This is a recipe for getting stuck and having to call your friend with a Ford to pull you out! I’m not a diehard brand person. However, I lived in coastal Alaska for several years recently and one thing I noticed time after time after time after time was guys would purchase a brand new Dodge/ram we’re talking after 2015 and in less than nine months, their truck would be completely rusted through!!!!!! We’re talking a hole you could see through in their wheel wells and their bumper!! This was a one or two trucks that I saw this happen to. This was in the double digits before I stopped counting!! This completely turned me off on Dodge/Ram!!!! A Cummins might be the best motor but what good is it if the entire bloody truck is falling apart all around you before it’s even one year old?!! Alaska is not like the lower 48! It takes pick up trucks that are not properly built. It chews them up and spits them out like a grizzly bear, eating a squirrel that picks its teeth clean with its claws afterwards. Alyeska is the company who owns and maintains the Alaska pipeline. They purchase roughly 60% Fords, 30% Dodge/Ram and 10% GM. A friend told me the 10% GM is for the really old guys with arthritis because they heat up faster but their alignment goes out really really fast- I know mine did on all the GM’s. I’ve owned in Alaska! Alaska is the reason I went back to FORD because I got so sick and tired of having to replace my upper and lower ball joints on my Chevrolet and GMC. With 37’s on this truck and either the 7.3 gas or the 6.7 turbo diesel I think this is the best truck for the most rugged truck destroying state in the union Alaska !

That’s a 2.16 multiplier on cost in 3 decades. I’m sure wages have significantly gone up since then. More realistic number of that is closer to $4.75 vs $15.50 here in Cali. Right, because even in the lowest base model of a modern truck there are way more amenities, and technology that wasn't even invented in the '90s. Not to mention the base 6.8 gas engine puts out more power than anything you could get in the '90s.

One thing that every Ford owner should know. Yes, you're gonna rebuild that transmission before 150,000 miles. If you're towing. and 200,000 miles if you're not. And then a 300 thousand. You're going to rebuild the engine because of the engine oil starvation issues that spun your main bearings and wiped camlobe. That is a fact. You can take any 200,000 mile five year old powerstroke. Pull it in a shop. Tear the engine down and find damaged. main bearings. and the beginnings of Camlobes being wiped. because of the stupidity of the engineers. The engine. starves on oil startups for 8 seconds as the more than two thirds of a gallon of oil. it takes to fill the engine oil lines finally reaches the upper engine. Probably not a problem. Restart. the engine every few hours But if it's been setting a week, it's bone dry. So the driveway Queen Ford weakened warrior. engines had the worst damage. Any low mileage powerstroke? will be represented by that exact scenario. Don't buy them! You will be rebuilding that engine through. years after you buy it. If it outlasts the transmission total cost of rebuilding both. $25K.

I drove the RAM 2500 and really liked it. The interior was excellent. The drive was smooth and the Cummins was fantastic. The showstopper was the lack of a telescoping wheel. I'm also 6'4" and the telescoping wheel is the secret weapon to making the vehicle fit. Without it, the Ram seating position was not much better than a U-Haul. Hopefully they fix that in the MY25. Seems like a strange omission in a vehicle that can be equipped for over $100k

Having to take the cab off to service the engine is a pretty serious design flaw, whether you're working on it yourself or paying a dealer or mechanic to do it. There's just no reason for that nonsense. No arguing with the power plant, its numbers, or its performance, but the whole cab-off engine maintenance requirement would preclude me even considering the Ford. Maybe they figure people who have $100K to buy a truck like this won't mind paying $10K to have the cab pulled for engine maintenance down the road, but there are two problems with that: 1) The truck is grossly overpriced to begin with. 2) Having to pay that much just to service the engine will lead to people just ditching the truck in favor of something else when it comes time for that level of maintenance. Really bad design. Whether you maintain it yourself or pay someone else to do it, living with a Cummins will be significantly easier and cheaper in the long run, and you're more likely to keep the truck. The quality of the Ram interior beats the Ford hands down (Laramie vs Lariat), with the Ford basically putting a couple leather accents on a cheap plastic XLT interior and calling it a Lariat. Ram does some of that, too, but a lot less, with a lot more soft-touch materials and less hard plastics. I've also heard a lot of people complaining about the Ford's center console constantly squeaking as they go down the road. Having said that, being a taller guy myself at 6'2, I was really surprised to find my head contacting the headliner when sitting in the Ram (with the seat at its lowest possible setting). Seeing you sit with plenty of headroom in the Ford, at your height, was really nice to see. Can't understand why Ram decided to make their interior so cramped. If I remember right, the Ram also has a drive axle hump in the rear seat area, whereas the Ford has a flat floor back there, making it a more comfortable and usable space. Did you have a professional do the leveling, or did you do it yourself? It would be interesting to see that, if it's not already on your channel. The 37s look fantastic on the truck, but you sure can hear them sing at highway speed during your driving portion of the video. LOL. You did a quick mention of the offset for the wheels, but I'm less knowledgeable about that. I assume 37s wouldn't work on the stock wheels and you have to go with a different wheel/offset setup to make them work? Didn't look like they stuck out much beyond the fenders, which is nice. Did you make any adjustments to get the speedometer to match the 37s, or are you just guestimating your speed? I think my wife would probably need a step ladder to get into this thing, but it sure does look good. Congrats! And thanks for sharing it with us.
