Great video and tutorial as usual Steve! I would like to comment about, to paraphrase the quote "what feels good is good" and what feels bad...(is not so good) I would like to add a caveat; what I've learned from the Moto side is that the faster your lap times become what was good at a certain speed is not necessarily good at a higher speed. Something I am just discovering on the mountain bike as I ride different trails and some downhill. Set up becomes more critical as terrain gets more Technical and speeds increase. (obviously right? 😁) for me having the Wheels track the ground as much as possible is most important. From what I've learned again from my years in road racing is that almost every setup will be a compromise to some extent. I'm finding that on the mountain bike there is more of a compromise then a road racing motorcycle. I've done about 60 hours of mountain bike rides in the past 18 months, and I'm still experimenting with both rebound and compression. I've hit what I felt was a pretty good setup on a number of occasions but of course with each Trail System it does change a bit. I always keep notes of what set up I had at one particular Trail so I have a baseline when I go back. but as I gain more experience and ride faster it's almost as if I'm starting from square one again. on one hand it can be a bit frustrating but on the other hand I do like working and adjusting on suspensions and bikes in general. the upside is I'm constantly learning. 👍

I'd agree with all that. If you're racing, what feels fast/slow can sometimes also just be more related to how in control you feel at the time. Very dead-feeling and/or harsh feeling bikes can be faster than bikes that feel "nicer". Most of the people we're setting up suspension for however are not racing, just people who want their bike to feel good when they ride it.

Awesome videos . im 225lb riding a 160 lyrik . i struggling to use the top 1.5" of travel but blow through my mid end . i run 22% sag with 2 tokens with 98psi and run lsc full open to componsate the massive brake dive i get. Do i need more tokens and less psi ? Or more psi and less tokens. Advice would be awsome. ?

I don't want to be the guy that spams you or anything, but I'd highly recommend you try a Luftkappe. Makes a huge difference to all of that.

@@VorsprungSuspension Any word on when its coming to the 2019 Lyrik? I have the exact same issue on my 19 RCT3 and weigh 230

I rode a bike with a 170mm Lyrik and experienced the same problem. I think it's a common problem.

I think the "tire pressure as low as possible" thing is only for gravity fed MTB. If you are pedaling, you don't want to waste your energy deforming your tire. Right?

no. Pedalling with compliant enough tyre on anything than tarmac will be faster, because the tire is going to conform over bumps rather than being deflected. Also chatter is tiring, so too harsh of a tyre will affect fatigue over long runs.

wanna hear something "great" ??? - the suspension ALWAYS feel not compliant on one hand, BUT (how wonderful) - it also always bottoming !!! how's that ?! it never absorbs the small hard square edged stones/rocks , and it never absorbs bug hits/landings/bumps :))) that's the motorcycle's world...
