chris hamilton more area of traction will still help. The dump truck looked like tri axle. Differant states, differant rules. Here they can be 66k, Quad axle I don't know, because some states recognize them, and some states dont. I know tractor and trailer can be 80k, unless special permit. Not saying weight isnt the biggest factor, but for pavement, pavement tires. Would love to see on dirt vs. Dump truck where those agricultural tires would really shine. The Dump may still win, but the deuce and a half would give it a greater challenge with all wheel drive.

What’s really crazy is that these giant trucks that weigh 80,000 pounds and probably make a ton of torque literally, are only making enough force between them to break a 1/4” piece of steel that holds the hitch in. You’d think they’d just rip each other apart but no, a little piece of medal keeps them planted.

6:25 letting air out of tires like that doesn't help with traction.
@jacobg51225 жыл бұрын
It does, actually. Lowering tire pressure increases the size of the contact patch. Ask any offroad driver.
@dieseldemon85625 жыл бұрын
Really?? Dude, spend some time off-road or at the drag strip... try hooking up with 30+ pounds of air in the tires vs airing down to 12-15. 😂. Airing down INCREASES the tire’s contact patch, and allows the sidewalls to flex a bit to store energy. In the dirt and rocks, airing down will again give a greater contact patch, increase flotation, and allow the tires to conform to rocks for a better bite...
