@@TheSalsaBeat Thanks! I'm listening in from the United States :) I'm learning how to play Latin percussion instruments, and I discovered that the key to getting it is to have a good understanding of clave. 😁

Its in The silent part after bum bum Just before the 2 clap. Easier to find The 1 when there is trumpets or guitars that usually starts at The 1 beat
@TheSalsaBeat9 ай бұрын
@jonasekstrom1067 I completely agree. I use the Tumbao rhythm only to find the 2 and 6. I love cowbel for the 1 but the cowbell generally doesn’t kick in till half into the song. However, the montuno of the piano is my go to when it comes to finding the 1. Have you heard that rhythms visual of ours?

I thought the clave was on the 1...
@TheSalsaBeat4 сағат бұрын
Yes. Clave has three variations based on how’s accompanied with other instruments. The one that starts on the 1 it’s called the 3-2 clave. It hits the 1 & 4 6 7.

Salsa On 1 or On 2 ?
@TheSalsaBeat5 ай бұрын
This rhythm can be danced on both. But it’ll feel more to the music if you dance it On2, so that when you step forward and back you’ll be more in tune which the slap of the conga on the 2nd and 6th beat.

If you don't feel the Beat it's much more difficult to learn Latin dancing.

Takes time. Took me about 2 months to start feeling the rhythm, from having none at all, and that meant attending classes from three different schools and going to every social I could find + one of the larger Latin dance festivals in my part of the world. Salsa is very complex music. When you're used to simplistic Western pop music, there's a huge learning curve just to kind of start getting it. The problem is, now I have a severe Latin dance addiction.

@@centralintelligenceagency9003 Whoever you are the only way to ever be able to learn Latin dancing, and if you are not Latin from birth, is to take lessons from a person who is Latin. Latin people already have the the rhythm because they learn to dance as children. Don't give up take lots of lessons and go out and ask someone to dance. Good luck. Keep Salsa 💃 dancing!!

I complete agree with you. My friend and partner created these videos to help me understand the music and these rhythms we do love to dance.

@@jennycolacino2088 stfu. Latin people take classes to learn salsa too and take time to learn it as well. Stop the generalizations. On KZbin I've seen a bunch of non Latin people teach salsa very well. I'm "Latin" btw so yeah, I know what I speak of. A lot of "Latin" love salsa and can't dance it. Probably most can't dance it actually. In most places whenever they put salsa on only a few dance compared to bachata and merengue. So shut it.

I find it really hard to dance on 1 to this since nothing happens. Dance on 2 is way easier for me.
@TheSalsaBeat3 ай бұрын
@PresCalvinCoolidge I know what you mean. The cowbell rhythm tends to be an easier rhythm to dance On1 with. Tumbao is all about that slap on the 2 and the 6. Thanks for sharing your input 🤙🏼

This is why I stoped salsa and bachata, and just stand on the side. I just don’t get this🤷🏽♂️. Not even after five years of trrying.

I completely understand bro. The first 5yrs of my dance journey I battled a lot with timing. And being Colombian, people assume that I should know and therefore made more fun of me. However, today teaching Salsa is my full time job. So don’t quit. Give it time. Take breaks if needed but always come back.
