Cool Mango One of the most underrated anime EVER! Unfortunately their target audience for back then was way too small. I watch this when I was ~9yo, watching it again when I was ~18 was absolutely incredible. To understand the journey, growth and the struggle of the protagonist.
@c4un544n56 жыл бұрын
Same. Watched it when i was 9 or something. Rewatch it when i was 18-20 because i knew i must've overlooked stuff since i was so young back then. The character development was godly.

The opening itself is a piece of art, subtle, powerful and unique. Even this much is enough to show how the creator placed a part of herself in this
@KK-fi6ms9 ай бұрын
This is the greatest anime opening I have ever seen. Purely because this is the only anime opening that is actually designed according to the subject matter, where even the best anime shows usually go for the samey generic mashup of scenes accompanied by some loud screaming pop / rock music. This one stands out.

I watched this when I was a kid, then rewatched this last March. I thought the opening felt very similar to Akatsuki no Yona's first opening not only because they're both instrumental, but the 'air' felt very similar. Turned out the openings for both anime were composed by the same person, Kunihiko Ryo.
@iBenjamin10002 жыл бұрын
that's crazy, I've been re watching the series now and I keep thinking of that exact same op. I guess it makes sense

Thank you so much for putting that out there. Those are 2 of my favorite anime of all time and I never thought to look at the composers! I wish they both had more seasons 😓
I love how this opening is an artistic take on the world of the twelve kingdoms. 0:06: Map of the world 0:37 - the nyosen and the kirin 0:47: child growing in a fruit on the riboku 0:53: a riboku 1:03: army/war/rebellion 1:12: Keiki's shirei - Jouyuu, Hankyo, Hyouki, Juusaku, Kaiko 1:22: Kingdoms with a filled throne/doing well are coloured more solidly around the image of the kirin.

Watching this OP again after several years, once again I find myself wishing that more anime, especially those with fantasy settings, had cinematic music for their OPs instead of the usual J-Pop and rock songs you usually hear.

Love this anime -- but I love the books even more! This summer I decided to reread the first one, but ended up just marathoning the whole volume in a single day. 😅 When I first read it years ago, I took the longest bus route home from work, just so I could spend more time reading. All time favourite fantasy novel, for me.
