I re-read the books recently .. The last time was when I was 14, when they first came out. I have a different understanding and appreciation for them now as a adult😂 With any good book, obsession is part of it. The last series I was reading back to back, when I had literally any free time ( brushing teeth, eating, cooking) was the Sookie Stackhouse novels (True Blood). The first book is a bit slow at start, but gosh darn it’s worth it. I have read the entire 13 book series more than I want to admit… I feel no shame 😂. I will always pick it up as a filler book for in between my main reads. I hope I can convince another person to read them.

In the books, Charlie suggests that Bella sees a therapist after Edward goes away, but she says no because she thinks is a waste of time (like, how could she talk about anything with that person without explaining vampires?) and then, after months, Charlie finally says "Go live with your mother" because he doesn't know what else to do if she doesn't want to go to therapy and is also not getting better.

My favorite fun fact is learning that the contacts really hurt the actor's eyes. Robert Pattinson described it as feeling like sand was being rubbed in his eyes all the time. @powersthetiddygoblin3 ай бұрын
Honestly if this was targeted at adult women and not teens, a lot of characterization issues are fixed with that. Edward functions better as an adult man looking to settle down and acts good as a husband, but is a terrible teenage boyfriend. Jacob being an adult who just wants to protect and see his childhood friend happy is his natural place, and shouldn't have been used to try and be a dramatic romantic rival. If they had just been delegated to the roles that fit them, a lot of the toxic scenes with both of them would disappear

Great reaction Roxy & John! 😊 I've been a Team Edward girl since the beginning. But I would happily be a part of Team Mustache Dad as well. Billy Burke does a great job throughout this whole series as Bella's dad Charlie. Fun Fact: Since he wasn't required to be in all of this particular movie, it gave Robert Pattinson time to film his movie "Remember Me"(which I VERY HIGHLY recommend). I think my favorite scene from this movie was when we got to see Jacob transform into a wolf for the first time. And I always love that we got to find out a little bit about Carlisle's past(finding out that he was with the Voltaire) in this one. Love the additions of Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning as Aro and Jane in this movie. Up next, one of my favorite of the movies: "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse". Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊

@Carpathianpixie3 ай бұрын
Yeah but acting her age wasn't really her. Bella had to mature super fast because her mother was basically neglectful and parentified her. She was super mature, she was self-sacrificing, she even took care of her dad. So her being with Edward makes way more sense. She was an old soul. I feel like her constant need to take care of everyone was what made it harder to be more firm with Jacob. She loved him because he was her best friend and she told him that she couldn't be more to him but he refused to listen.

Bella playing with Edward and Jacob is such a teenage thing to do. In Midnight sun (The first book from Edwards pov) he is constantly surprised by her making decisions which arent selfish. So he is fascinated by her that she never thinks about herself and also he cant read her mind so it is understandable why he falls in love with her but I don't get Jacobs and Mikes obsession either. About the seeing Edward thing. Edward isn't doing that. She's hallucinating. Also, in the book she wasn't seeing him, she was only hearing him. She didn't see him until the water when she thought she was actually about to die. Also, in the book she didn't get on the guy's motorcycle. As soon as she got close enough to realize the guys were not the ones who cornered her before she lost interest and went back to Jessica. I think she was drawn to them when she thought they were the guys from last time because she was seeking proof that what happened with Edward was real. His whole, "it will be like I never existed" thing was really traumatic for her.

Regarding why Bella's mind can't be "penetrated". In the "Midnight Sun" book (Edward's pov), Edward is looking for the answer, too, and he realizes he doesn't really hear Charlie's thoughts as clearly as he does the others. So, he thinks it might be the reason, like Bella inherited this mental quietness (as opposed to her mother whose thoughts were just screaming the whole time). But if you're going to keep watching the movies, it will all fall into place for you eventually (in the last movie). Basically, this whole thing is about destiny and predestination. Throughout the books, the characters keep repeating Bella's number was up when she moved to Forks. She was supposed to die in the van crash, but Edward saved her because he was destined to (because she was destined to move to this particular town where the vampires dwelled, blah blah blah). I guess Stephanie Meyer was trying to make this all about Bella belonging to the vampire world, so she was kind of born weird with this weird brain.

You speak so beautifully about the idea of the story and the book / movie as a whole. Its so refreshing to hear someone speak about them and react to them with such intellect of storytelling and knowledge of movies and storys in general. Me in 2008 as a 16 year old could not really fathom all these big problematic things you think abt as you get older. I was just in love with the idea of eternal love and excited about the 'fantasy world'. Which was and still is such a basic human thing of so many to want to 'explore'. But I was enchanted about the story, just like you said , the age speaks loads for how the audience take it in and also super important to keep in mind when tou do review a franchise like this. It's made for the fans, its made out of YA books. BUT (!) Yes , it is a big deal!! They dont make it one in the movies no but of course the characters needs to look like they do in the book otherwise its not an adaptation right? 😅 I hate when movies change the looks of characters in the movies. i was always in awe of the lines in new moon since i saw it in middle school ngl. it always made me feel like i could someday have that kind of love Edward and Bella have for each other where its impossible for them to live without each other (even think about it) and they can give their own life in an instant for each other or just to see each other. where they are so infatuated and madly, fully, wholly giving all their love and soul to their one true soulmate! like daaamn yo T_T

That play on Vader's words that Jacob says about Bella's lack of confidence in the wolves makes me chuckle every time.

This couldn't be more perfect then delving into this with y'all on a Saturday afternoon! Cannot wait till the next! I know this channel did a react to the TV show Arcane but I would loovve if you two specifically watched it! I'm not usually into animated but it was literally the best TV show I've seen in quite awhile. Hearing you two pick it apart would be so fun!

I used to get the actress who plays Victoria in the first two films and Katheryn Winnick confused.

As an avid fan of the series from a super young age, having read all the books several times; i can't help but feel like these are still such great films. shitposting, jokes & memes aside I still gravitate towards these for comfort & nostalgia. one of the best sci-fi ya series ever and with THE BEST music/soundtracks of any ya series! aside from the cringey extremes that wouldn't pass in dating culture today as they're loaded with red flags, there was a veil of innocence and naivety that coaxed us readers into falling in love with all of these in-depth characters. the world stephenie was able to build in the books was fantastic. as someone also named jacob, I couldn't stand his character or his attitude in the books lmfao, I was ALWAYS team edward through & through. new moon is one of my favorite movies bc of the melodrama feeling, the music & cinematography. they really captured the perfect essence of being a delusional, extreme & depressed teen. I will always love this series & cannot wait to see you guys react to the rest of them, especially the finale. I can still hear the screams roaring through the theater from that marathon premiere day, it was louder than no way home, infinity war & end game combined. ELECTRIC!!!

You will get answers to a lot of your questions in Breaking Dawn Part 2, with regards to why Edward can't read Bellas thoughts, and why Jacob was so obsessed with Bella, and why Bella "felt something" for Jacob. I know it's frustrating and you want answers now, but I promise, all will be revealed in the last film. 😊

Some background about Edward appearing as an apparition in this film. In the books, Bella just hears Edward's voice whenever she did something reckless, but he wasn't really talking to her, she would just imagine what he would say to her, knowing she was putting herself in danger, and that's why she could "hear" him. However, when they were making the film, they were worried that Team Edward fans would be upset if Robert Pattinson didn't get more screen time, so they chose to rather let him appear as an apparition instead of just hearing his voice. Not sure if I'm making any sense 😂.

Edward knew how Bella would react to his leaving. He was making plans once she ran away from Alice and Jasper in his POV book, Midnight Sun. Alice was having visions of all of Bella’s potential futures after Edward left, and he still did it. BUT I fully believe he was watching from the trees like he does in the books. No way he’d walk away from her until she got home or was found. Bella doesn’t owe Jake a thing. She leaned on him when she was sad, and she wanted to try.. but he knew damn well where her heart was. She tried to move on, but in the end, it isn’t him. It never could be. That’s just a friendship for her. The stomach flu was going around. Mike was sick from that, not the action movie. Bella should’ve gone home, and passed out on the bathroom floor at the toilet, too. Not sure why the movies cut it out. Just made Mike look like a wimp. Maybe they thought mentioning the others being sick would clue us in?

Bella had to mature super fast because her mother was basically neglectful and parentified her. She was super mature, she was self-sacrificing, she even took care of her dad. In the movies, theyre eating out all the time but in the books she cooks and cleans and makes sure he takes care of himself. So her being with Edward makes way more sense. She was an old soul. I feel like her constant need to take care of everyone was what made it harder to be more firm with Jacob. She didnt want to lose him or hurt him. She loved him because he was her best friend and she told him that she couldn't be more to him but he refused to listen.
