April, you need a jigsaw instead of the hacksaw you were using if you want to cut out a piece from that white board. You can also get plastidip or clearcoat in the spraypaint aisle of home depot or lowe's that would waterproof your "tool"

April, if you have a bottle of UV curable top coat that you do not like, do you think it could it be used to waterproof your tool? I know it wouldn't go very far, but maybe it could seal the raw edges.
