Difficult to explain to those not alive at the time how much fun this craze was. Once you learned this simple dance, you didn't want to stop. Everyone was laughing, smiling, having a great time.

@@carycimino7699 I remember the last of that transition to color programming. Sometimes an announcer would say the name of the show and say something like, "...now in color", and a still frame would have the words "in color" with a different color for each letter. Having a color TV was a big deal back then.

This is first song I remember dancing to. This song was playing on the radio and our mother was having us dance to it. Our parents getting a kick out of watching us do the twist. They both gave it a shot to show us how to do it. This was in about 1960 when I was 3 or 4 years old. The 50s and 60s such a great time to be a kid and grow up.

Around the mid-1990's, Chubby Checker performed at a trade show here in California. One of my co-workers from the small company we worked at, jumped up on the stage (un-invited) and started twisting with Chubby Checker. Prior to this, she had a few adult beverages and decided "what the heck!" I was sure Chubby would have her removed. To my surprise, Chubby didn't seem to mind. In fact, they were bumping hips towards the end of the song. The entire audience enjoyed the impromptu performance. Chubby was a good sport.

Certainly one of the greatest songs of all time! Today's teenager cannot imagine how this song hit the people in 1960 and influenced them for their whole life. Families were big so I just remember weddings and Christenings all the time as a small child. We would keep out of the adults way until they started getting tipsy, then we would dance and they would give us pennies:D

This was number one on the Billboard for a WHILE, and I loved listening to it with my dad who taught me the beauty of oldies and classic rock. Thank you, love you, and miss you, dad!! RIP!!!

My uncle is chubby checker. My grandfather Hans was his cousin and he is my uncle. I find this song for my grandma when I was 5 and she told me, “ this is your uncle sweetheart”. And I said, “ he’s amazing”!

I got to meet Chubby C. at a book store he gave out autographs and almost he gave me a cd with his songs I will never forget him he is the nicest man I ever met. Since I told him I was a dj playing at a 50's 60's nightclub. I lot of the Twist were remakes to me it didn't sound like the original I am glad I have the original. 👍🎤🎶🎙
