Dan was murdered in 2014. He came within a hair’s breadth of being framed for the murder. Wendi selected him for this. She set him up by having constant conversations about how unhappy she was so she could later say he did this out of passion for her. She told him the joke. She set up a dinner with Katie and Charlie to establish a connection between them. She scheduled the hitmen’s scouting tip to time with Jeff’s schedule and almost managed to time his trip on the day of the murder. She whispered the information that hiring hitman had been researched and how much money. I now think she was heading to Dan’s house shortly after the murder to plant DNA and other evidence that would have pointed to Dan, who was supposed to be driving right by at the same time. She could have then pointed the police straight at Dan, and even tried it anyway. Straight up evil. So Jeff has been testifying in these cases again and again, helping to get justice for Dan and his family. He’s entitled to be a little “off”. He’s completely innocent and completely credible, and very likely sick and tired of the whole situation.

The things they have in common, these two people, are clear. They're smart, thoughtful, and empathic people and both have that "nose" for something being off. They also are people who Wendeye Adelson felt it important to avoid after the murder. I remember being particularly struck watching Mr Lacasse's 3rd interview that HE, Mr Lacasse, figured out something that none of the investigators, TPD or FBI, figured out until Mr Rivera explained everything more than a year in the future.. Mr Lacasse noticed that something strange happened in early June 2014. He realized that Wendeye had been acting like she was going to break up with him. Then she had a day of being super upset. Then suddenly her behaviour did a 180 turn and she was being almost comically encouraging, telling him,, "I want the boys to start calling you "Dad'"- which is truly disgusting amongst every other weird thing about it. For over a year the detective to whom Mr Lacasse spoke probably continued to be dismissive of what he'd been told. I wonder what he thought, or if he thought anything, when Mr Rivera finally explained the reason behind what Mr Lacasse noticed..... That there had been a first attempt to do the murder, Wendeye knew about it, it didn't happen, so Wendeye had to try to "reset" their relationship and needed to keep him around her even after the "big fight", which she claimed she was so horrified by...yet she kept texting and emailing him. I expect the prosecutors are keeping THAT bit of videod interview in their pocked for the day when Wendeye is sitting at a court table next to her hugely expensive defense attorney.

We now know that Donna had been lying to Charlie the whole time he was in jail, telling him that Wendeye always asked about him and worried about him. Now that Donna is banged up, I doubt Harvey is going to tell Charlie that same thing, at least not as much. He was clearly really pissed off with Wendeye after the trial...for her book, for her driving to the murder scene...and, unsaid, for getting him to kill her ex husband and ruining his life. I figure at some point Charlie will think that his only hope is to try to flip on Wendeye. And as the years go by and she never visits, calls, writes, or...gives money to stop him from being beaten up, he'll get even more angry. Charlie always liked to sue people who annoyed him. He can't sue Wendeye, but he can make her life hell. Let's hope it he starts it sooner rather than later.

I found it very sincere. And towards the end of her interview when she was anticipating Dan's family was going to be summarily cut out of the children's lives was prophetic 😢 Imagine how crushing when they learned that Wendi stripped the boys of the Markel name completely and the middle name of one of the boys that meant something significant for Dan and they'd agreed at the time that son was named. Yes. I was very moved by her sincerity, her obvious care for Dan. She clearly "got" Dan and didn't find him off putting at all. It's what can happen when you really get to know someone and when you genuinely care about that person. Wendi, just as clearly, not only didn't "get" Dan, she didn't care enough about him as a person, as a man she married and had two precious children with. Just really, really sad. I think he was strung along the last week to make it look like she had broken up with him and he was desperate to get her back. It may look too detectives that he would kill to get her back. It is interesting to me how Wendi and Charlie both picked up temporary lovers during the planning stage of Dan’s murder. These lovers, I think, were being used as patsys. They were both dropped after Dan was dead. Charlie roped Katie into her part in this sickening drama. Wendi dropped a lot of hints to perhaps draw Jeffrey into the scheme, such as when she said that Charlie had considered hiring a hit man. Wendi is at the bottom of this whole thing. She invited everyone she could against Dan.
