Her family very much does indeed descend from Iran, her family business might be located in India from her father’s side but that doesn’t mean she’s not Persian ethnically. Even nationality wise she’s British therefore she barely has connection to India/Pakistan. Stop begging it. Half of Pakistan is ethnically Afghan, you people still paint them under the Desi brush for no reason.

Sarees and Lehenga are culturally not necessarily religious, people do interntwined it with religion yes but originally they're cultural, there are whole other things that are specially religious idk just find out which part of India you belong to from your parents and dressup in the specific part of Indian culture that you came from every region has a different variations and cultural wear
@saltycupkakes27993 ай бұрын
Umm no. Saree is pretty much religious in origin. We used to wear the sacred thread from left to right in ancient times. Saree is the successor of the sacred thread after marriage. It's true that there are a lot of different customs depending on culture but religious origins can't simply be chopped off. Saree might have later been worn by everyone but it's origins can't be washed away
@veen-a20923 ай бұрын
@saltycupkakes2799 So clothes are made by religion is that what you're saying? So before culture and customs religion exist first is that what you're saying? So cotton weaving and looming is created by religion and not culture is that what you're saying? You're just generalizing and gatekeeping a cultural clothing to your own religious beliefs and narrow teaching from your own religion let me repeat what I said "Sarees and Lehengas are cultural not NECESSARILY religious" let me repeat that "NECESSARILY" again "NECESSARILY" and then I said "People DO INTERTWINED WITH RELIGION" originally they're cultural, your priests and your older religious families and people might not want to admit it but for religion to form culture has to form first from society comes culture comes religion and religious beliefs and that is when custom and religion interntwined. For religious beliefs to spread you need society and custom first such an outdated way of trying to gatekeep culture and customs through religious beliefs the history clearly stated that it was "MENTIONED in Hindu literature" let me repeat that "MENTIONED" not originated not made it was "MENTIONED" The ensamble is MENTIONED in Sanskrit literature and Buddhist literature in 6BCE again MENTIONED not MADE
@veen-a20923 ай бұрын
@saltycupkakes2799 It was not "Originated" by religion it was "Mentioned" in religious literature, the origin of clothing like Sarees dated way back to the Indus Civilization period which includes ancient Egyptians and Messapotamians which are very diverse in their religious beliefs but they share the technique of weaving and looming and draping which evolved to what we know today as Saree which the word came from Sanskrit word that just mean un-sewn clothes or drape clothing, which again can also be seen not just in Hinduism but Bhuddism and Christian Bilical as well cause those parts are where most of early civilization of literally education flourished, just because they're MENTIONED in Religious text doesn't mean they originate through specific religion
@saltycupkakes27993 ай бұрын
@@veen-a2092 chill girl, no one is gatekeeping the cloth. I'm pointing out it's religious origins. The same way Hijab/niquab/chador/abaya have origins in islam Christianity and judaism. Pre islamic arab women didn't cover their heads or bodies. As islam spread, so did it's religious elements and Culture. Culture is heavily influenced and shaped by religion. People would take up things and follow customs BECAUSE their religion and religious teachings tell them to do so. Hinduism is a very old religion and it has shaped the culture and clothing of what we see of india today, in every era from maurya, gupta etc etc periods. Denying the religious origins of saree and bindi is tbf stupid. You cannot separate things that are inseparable. Religion has heavily impacted the clothing of every single place in India. The OP recognises that it's both a cultural and religious clothing and is respectful, I don't get why you have a problem with someone recognizing it's religious roots?
@saltycupkakes27993 ай бұрын
@@veen-a2092 the spread of a religion and custom is a very complex social process. Culture evolves through religion. It's not linear but intertwined. You said that society comes first and then customs are created and then religion. Then this would imply that customs everywhere would literally be the same as their ancestors practiced. No religion would have been spread. No "customs" Would have been discarded in favor of new ones. Europe would not have rooted out it's pagan culture in favor of Christianity, old practices would have never been abandoned. Islam would not have spread and people would still have followed their respective customs without the influence of islam. Societies change, religions change. Whenever religions spread and dominate an area, they change a place's customs and make it evolve for the better. Denying how clothing, societies and people are influenced by religion is denying history itself. Culture is more or less a religious and societal construct, and not vice versa. It is the faith of the societies in particular religions that make them a certain way, have certain values and certain attitudes. East Asia had beliefs in taoism and Confucianism for the longest time. Confucianism has strict laws on how women and elders should be treated. So talking down to someone to a greater age and status is a sign of disrespect and frowned upon. Even when they are currently irreligious. Again an example as to how culture was influenced by a religion.
