Thank you for another great video. Pretty gun, and boy, what a fast lock time! And, true to form, the tank dies again! Bwahahaha!! Now that I think about it, that’s actually a really good target. You could punch holes all through it, slap some paint on it, and keep rolling. And, you don’t have to worry about ricochet.

Thank you! It is a fun target!

I have a question. I thought most French trade guns had 46 and longer barrels? Also the front sight is very close to muzzle. Not complaining as I dont like the front sights very far from the muzzle myself. But it seems to me that most front sights on original guns were 6-7 " inches from muzzle. I'm just wondering if these things were done to the taste of the customer or if you have documentation of the barrel length and sight distance?
@HoffmanReproductions2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, yes this one was shorter than most but it was copied from an original carrying this same length of 41" barrel. The front sight follows that same original. Would have to look to find the original reference.

If you put a ferro rod in a flint lock and roughed up the frizzen would it work?
@flintymcduff54172 жыл бұрын
Interesting question but not sure of the answer. It would probably be better to build a sytem around that concept-more like a wheel lock.

They are about the same as the other semi custom parts stores I've found. Yes indeed, prices are going up all over.
@BlueRidgeCritter2 жыл бұрын
I just went and looked, too. Ouch. I wonder if there is some quality reason, why there are about twice as much as other kits. Like, are the parts all made here in the US or something, as opposed to the near east? Just curious.

Sir, do you know if the 3,5-foot-barrel-rule applied only to Minute Men or to every militia member of the Revolutionary War?
@HoffmanReproductions2 жыл бұрын
Not something I've heard of Sir as far as a rule goes. I do know that militia members where required to "have a serviceable firelock" along with other gear, but never have come by barrel length requirements. Please feel free to share any info. Thank you!
@corneliussulla99632 жыл бұрын
@@HoffmanReproductions I ve heard it in two videos about Minutemen. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJu3m6aQZcyjnLM&ab_channel=MinuteManNPS and kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGXGdJmheNKYhc0&ab_channel=MinuteManNPS Sorry, Im pretty clueless, from Europe and trying to decide which Kibler Longrifle kit to order when I have saved the money. Thats why Im asking. ;-) The Woodsrunner is slightly shorter than what the rule says.

I really like Fusils, in fact I probably like better than the English trade guns. Unfortunately my ancestors were from the Southern colonies and English so I'm trying to stick with what they probably used. I'll probably have a Fusil someday just because I like them so much.
@HoffmanReproductions2 жыл бұрын
Both types are fun! I like shooting them both as well.
@krockpotbroccoli652 жыл бұрын
I love the lines of the French muskets as well, but like you, have English ancestors (who settled in Mass Bay Colony in the 1630s on one side and 1710 in Maine on the other) so I felt that an English fowling piece was the one to start my gunbuilding with back in 2010. Also likely what the MA ones would have been equipped with on bunker hill. (That or a liberated early Brown Bess)
