Perfectionism was my main barrier when I first started preparing. People who are applying to medical school tend to be used to getting high grades in their exams and being able to answer all of the questions correctly in their papers, so it takes a bit of psychological adjustment to get used to the idea of skipping questions, inferring and guessing. Thanks for the videos, btw - I'm feeling a bit demoralized due to my current scores, and your advice has helped me pick myself back up. Just gotta grind it out and hopefully my hard work will be rewarded!

Great video once again Emil 👍 Advice is very helpful and you make the process seem much less daunting. Would love to see some other UCAT live timed videos where you go through the questions, particularly the verbal reasoning video. Although I would understand if Medicine course right now requires most of your effort and attention. Thank you and good luck with anything you have going on 😃

Thank you so much for the nice comment! Yeah I definitely am a bit swamped with the med work atm, but don't worry I'll get to those live videos up at some point! I'll finish exams soon and I'll have a lot more time so I'll make sure to get them out hopefully before the testing period starts 😃

Hey! Thanks for the amazing vid :) is it proven that the actual Ucat exam is easier than the company questions we use to practice or is that subjective?
@EmilEddy3 жыл бұрын
It's not really possible to prove anything to do with the UCAT unless you work for Pearson Vue tbh ahahahah. In my experience though, the UCAT exam was easier on the DM, QR and AR sections

Hey bro, thanks for the video! I've started preparing early for ucat (around 4 months just on ucat) and finding decision making alright at the moment. Done over 1000 practice questions for this section and now moving onto other sections. Done a few practice sub tests and scored around 22-25 in decision making. Am I spending too much time or should I continue to do what i'm doing? Thanks!
@EmilEddy2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I think the question isn’t about how many practice problems you’ve done, but what you’re learning from those problems. It doesn’t matter if you do 1000 questions if you aren’t improving with them! Spend the time you need to get the scores you want in each subtest. 22-25/29 is pretty good for decision making
@harmanbasra74052 жыл бұрын
@@EmilEddy thank you bro! I've now moved onto QR but finding this section a bit difficult. Got an average of 21 - 22 in DM subtests. Any tips for QR? Saw your video super helpful btw man.
@EmilEddy2 жыл бұрын
@@harmanbasra7405 I think it's a good idea to separate QR into different question types. Practice as many ratios questions as you can first, then percentages, then tables, then graphs until you master them all.

u got any advice for me? i reallly want a score like that because currently im getting 2380 band 3 :(((
@Ojisgay2 ай бұрын
@@thedailyplug1880 ngl my QR and AR carried in that mock my verbal reasoning is pretty bad I just guess and flag the passages that are 4 or more paragraphs, then for DM I try to secure the easier questions like the venn diagrams and leave the harder ones till the end, QR I just try everything and if I can’t understand it within 30 seconds I guess, AR is just practicing recognising patterns and SJT is just picking the most safe sensible options and idk why its A a lot of the time

@@Ojisgay oh i see thank you very much for your advice if im being honest i struggle with VR and AR the most im slowly getting better at VR tho however AR IS really hard for me idk how you revise for it i use the SCANS thing but i still find that section really difficult any tips?
@Ojisgay2 ай бұрын
@@thedailyplug1880 tbh I can’t explain how I see the patterns in the first place but if I can think of any pattern that applies to at least 3/4 boxes I trust my gut and if the new shape looks off then I just put neither, if I really can’t tell I just compare the shape with the ones in each set and sometimes I get lucky🤷♂️

How long did you spend to revise for UCAT? Also how did you divide the 4 sections along with SJT to create a revision timetable, for example did you spend one day on QR then next day on VR?
@EmilEddy3 жыл бұрын
I spent about 8 months preparing. Usually I'd recommend doing a specific subtest a day, that's right

I’m about 7 weeks away, I started doing a few mini mocks on SJT, I haven’t really practiced much on other sections tho. Does 100 questions from each section a day sound like a good idea?
@EmilEddy3 жыл бұрын
I think a 100 questions is ok, but more than just spamming questions, I reccomend focussing hard on getting your technique right with untimed questions and then moving on to doing questions in timed conditions as well. The focus on the technique is the most important thing at the start imo! Good luck!

Hey may I ask if you did a particular UCAT course like medentry etc. or otherwise? Also, how many hours or rather weeks did you spend on your UCAT prep? Thanks

I used both medentry and medify's online profiles. I made a video on how long I spent preparing, but it was about 80 hours from January to August
