The UFC Middleweight division is in a logjam and it's all because of one man.

This is why the UFC is going down the toilet, there's no integrity in the belt anymore. It's whoever sells more PPV gets the title shit. 👎🐷👎

Agreed, it sucks to watch deserving contenders like Rob and Sean sit out and waste their prime when they should be fighting for the belt

A few corrections, Izzy didn't lose 50-45. I think Izzy getting a title shot is repaying favors by the UFC. Izzy helped the UFC during COVID times and post time. Even UFC 293 wasn't meant to happen but Izzy stayed on the card, UFC 293 suffered quality issues because of poor planning. If Izzy becomes champ again, the division is gonna move quickly. I agree with your takes regarding the log jam. But my imo is Izzy is the problem himself because if beats Dricus he pretty much has beaten most top 10 that creates issues regarding rematches. The only intriguing rematch is with Sean Strickland other than that he has to fight new people. Izzy was adamant he was fighting for the title even way before UFC 300 was announced. When you are a poster boy like he is, you get away with many things. And I am a full time Izzy fan but this is gonna create issues if Izzy beats Dricus which I think he will

My apologies, he was 49-46'd on all 3 cards as nearly a -700 favorite on some books. I do agree about Izzy helping the UFC. I respect everything Adesanya has done for the sport, and I respect him as a fighter 100%. Like I said, Izzy has become one of the most overhated fighters in the sport which I don't agree with. He was an active champion and even if he had some boring performances, he brought a lot of new fans to the sport and always fought the next man up. I understand WHY the UFC is doing this. It's more just voicing my frustration with the fact that they are doing it. I'd much rather see the rightful contenders get their shots first and have Izzy fight someone else in the meantime. Especially with his name value, there are many fights you can make that WILL sell and don't have to have a belt on the line. Him vs Khamzat is probably one of the most wanted fights from many fans in the sport, and him vs another top contender like Imavov would be fun to watch as well.

i like and agree with lots of what you're saying but you have to remember that sports is business. that's why we have unwritten rules such as you have to beat the champ.. and to add to this rule we can say we have to beat the up and coming superstar as well. dricuss duplesis at a time was going to be a big money maker with a fight against izzy....this fight should have happened actually sooner, it may have lost some of its fire. the only way they would have given strickland the victory over dricuss duplesis is if he got a stoppage......a potential bout with izzy vs dricuss was at stake.. i'm not an izzy fan but i think he brings in people, so his fights bring in good money,,,,, i'm not a strickland fan either and i'm not sure if he's a money maker.... sure the fight with strickland and izzy was big but what other fight with strickland would be big... all i'm saying is the fight game isn't fair. it's all about business. didn't colby covington get title shots one after the other...some might say that he jumped the line. sometimes its not even about winning but its about can you draw a crowd. sports is business and entertainment.... Alex preira is a pretty big star right now...but if you've noticed since he came in the UFC he had quite a personality.... and imagine this guys popularity and he can't even speak english. fighters need to do more than just fight to earn a spot they have to make themselves known in other ways....we've got so much social media platforms out there so they have to make use of them.... on another note i don't know why fighters turn down fights if they're healthy....win or lose you can still make a name for yourself its all about how you carry yourself after the fact. but its good to hear your take on who you think is worthy of a title shot.

I agree, I understand the business side of it 100%. Like you said, Izzy vs DDP is a fight that sells itself. Adesanya is one of the biggest stars in the sport. My problem is that because of his star power, he gets superiority over guys who have rightfully earned a title shot by going out there and putting their bodies on the line to earn a shot. I think there are plenty of other fights with Adesanya that could sell just as well as a fight with DDP would. I think him vs Chimaev is one of the biggest non-title fights you can make in the entire sport. If they did something like that instead, then we wouldn't have to make a fight between 2 deserving contenders where the loser may not get another chance at the belt in their career.
