This video was posted to educate people to what happens in the trucking industry. I was beginning to fall asleep behind the wheel of my tractor trailer loaded with produce when I decided to pull over for sleep and call my company to inform them that I was unsafe to continue driving.

Hey Kent, that "nothing" you speak of is 6-8 times more than they can make in a day where they're from, that's why they work hard. In other words, your fucking "pound" is a 6 or more of their fucking ______. Then they mail that shit home to support a struggling impoverished family while you fucking lazy fucks complain about people that will work harder than you for less. Supply and demand man. Lazy entitled fucks get used to getting paid for less work so they learn to expect it, then when competition comes, they complain. Cry me a river, build a fucking bridge, and get over it you fucking wanker.

Coming from the aviation community, you NEVER question a pilot if he says that he isn't safe to fly. You honor his decision to either cancel the flight, or find a replacement pilot. There is no explanation involved, no negotiating. The pilot is in command of his aircraft, and if he decides he isn't safe to fly, then he isn't safe. No repercussions. No amount of "manning up" can get you past sleep deprivation, fatigue, or a circadian rhythm imbalance. The NTSB and the Navy Safety Center have literal tons of data on this, and at this point it has been a proven fact.

A place to start is the Navy's aviation manual, pages 8-13 and 8-14 address circadian rhythm/desynchrony, as well as flight time limitations. Note: this instruction can be differed from "should operational necessity dictate." Operational necessity is a big deal, and happens rarely. Flying a transport flight would not be considered "operationally necessary" www.public.navy.mil/airfor/vaw120/Documents/CNAF%20M-3710.7_WEB.PDF

@Joe-bm4wx 6 жыл бұрын
The second place to look is FAR 121.533. This states that EITHER the dispatcher OR the pilot in command can cancel a flight entirely at their discretion alone. This is federal law, and the airline cannot question the decision of their pilot. www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/14/121.533

Any driver that sides with the company is a complete idiot. Who in their right mind would tell a driver to take a 10 hour break after 30 minutes of coming off of a 10 hour break. This was not a service failure on behalf of the driver. This was a service failure on behalf of the poor planning on dispatch/customer service end. It's that simple. Good job Abe. This trucker is behind you all the way.

Capitalism = profits over lives
@observingrogue7652
@observingrogue7652 6 жыл бұрын
No. In true Capitalism. Bad companies = Bad Public Relations & Reputation = no one wants to do business with them, no one wants to work for them = Bad companies whither & die. And with pure Capitalism, there's no government to bail them out, forcing us to pay for them, with the money stolen through taxes. And with no government, there's no monopolies, meaning they can't force people to do business with them. And there would be no government to bribe, through lobbying, to make them the only option for an area, state, or even the whole country. This is what Libertarianism & Anarcho-Capitalism, are all about. In real capitalism, that company's options are to be good, in every way, or go bankrupt. This great Trucker is right. If your current employer is bad, you can work for someone else. Depending on the business you're in, you can even start your own business, and be independent. We need more honest, brave, and clever Journalists, and Whistleblowers, like this Trucker, and Edward Snowden. If this Trucker didn't do what he did, that company would still be getting away with shit like that. And if he did crash, and killed himself, or others, HE would have gotten blamed, and his bosses would have swept that conversation under the rug, and probably would have slandered him and or distanced themselves from the Trucker, to preserve the reputation of themselves, and the company. Oh, and with no government. There would be no unfair taxes, fines, fees, regulations, laws, and patents. Companies would be even less likely, to be so nasty to their workers, on top of risking being exposed as pieces of shit. Reputation would be as important as money, and they would't do anything evil or stupid, to risk that. Like screwing with the sleep cycles of a driver, threatening & bullying him to keep driving, when he is warning them he is falling asleep. Then tricking the fucking police, to wake him up. His bosses, maybe even their bosses too, should be fired, or punished in some way. Yes, when running a business, in a way, you do have to treat workers like machines. And like any machine, they have to be efficiently utilized, and taken care of. If People In Management Positions, can't do that. Then they don't deserve to be PIMPs.

I'm a dispatcher for DHL Supply Chain and I applaud you for not giving in to these guys. The first priority, over everything else, is SAFETY. You are the professional driver. You are the shot caller within your truck. If you say it isn't safe for you to continue, then it isn't safe. The load is not more important than your life or the lives of the people on the road around you. The men that you talked to on the phone are absolutely wrong in this situation. If you disagree, then think about if it was your family member who is hurt/killed in an accident involving a 40,000+ pound truck whose operator fell asleep behind the wheel. What if it was your mother, or your child? You wouldn't be so steadfast in your opinion.

Sounds like everyone you talked with on the phone was either completely dissociated from reality or had zero regard for your safety and the safety of others. I get it, it's a business and must be run as such. But what's worse? Delivering a load a few hours late or killing someone because the dispatchers wouldn't let you sleep. I never knew this problem existed. It's guys like you who hold up this country on their back through blood, sweat, and tears. Stay safe, dude.

The only thing that would work for a 4-hour drive when you're falling asleep would be amphetamines, because they force your brain to dump lots of neurotransmitters to wake you back up...which is probably why there are so many truckers who are addicted to amphetamines.

I can vouch for the exact same opposite. I used to work in the oilfield and you would get FIRED instantly if the system recorded you driving longer than 3 hours without a 15 minute break or drive for more than 8 hours in a 24h time window. If the driver was tired you could phone your supervisor and tell them that you needed a nap or pull over and get some sleep, if for some reason your supervisor told you "that's just oilfield" you could report him and his ass would be on the street the next day. I think the problem with the truck industry is that the profit is not so high, so every hour counts, when you deal with bigger amounts of profit, (over 100k$ per job) then they are more lenient. The company was also a multinational with reputation to protect and strict driving policies, so I guess that's a big factor. I can only vouch for my experience though, if you know more about other industries that require driving please share.

DOT ain't gonna do shit. Maybe a fine, and then the company is going to spread the word through fleet messages to all the drivers to make them feel bad. Its doesn't mean jack to the company. Its all write offs anyways. The only thing it effects is how many trucks get pulled into the scales and get inspected. There no regulation on the company itself. Just regulating the drivers. In the end the drivers get screwed 9 ways to Sunday.

best thing to do is walk away. i've worked for several people who had a blatant disregard for my safety. like when i was helping with a job where they were jackhammering some old concrete steps away and i was told to pick up the concrete blocks that were being chopped off within like a foot from an active jackhammer when i have no helmet, no safety goggles, no mask, nothing -_-. all so the guy could be a little more efficient and save $20 by getting the jackhammer rental back earlier. it is not worth the $10/hr they are paying me. not even close.

Iron man The thing is, in trucking, these companies get paid a a lot of money to deliver loads. The larger the company is, the more they see drivers as numbers and not people, and in that sense, that's all big companies, not trucking specifically. I get your point, and do agree with it very much, it's just not how the world works when big money is involved.

Edward Blake Trust me I know. But I've been alive and grown wise enough to see just how ridiculous it is. You're right, many other businesses run the same way because the people at the top are only concerned about getting every single dollar they can. If they're profiting $10 million a year then they're not happy because they want $20 million a year, or they made $30 billion last year and they want $35 billion next year. More is never enough. Holidays and weekends go out the window and 24/7 business is the goal to get every last dollar. People are over worked, under paid, and it's no wonder so many people are on antianxiety or antidepressants and/or have hypertension.

Well...if you're delivering something to a port and it needs to be there by a certain time or the ship will leave without it, I'd say that qualifies as a hot load. But there's no disputing that the dispatcher fucked-up by planning the delivery time with no leeway at all, then making the guy take two breaks in a row, then making him drive at night with no sleep, and not having anyone else available to share the work.

Man, this makes me angry. No one should ever be in this situation. People are not robots that you can turn off to charge full with energy whenever you need them fully charged to function. It doesn't freaking matter if "This is the business, this is how we do it" if the consequence is that people aren't SAFE on the roads anymore. It doesn't matter what the guy on the phone thinks of the truck driver personally, if he thinks he's lazy, stupid etc. IT. DOESN'T. MATTER. The truck driver has the responsibility to handle his vehicle safely, and when he can't handle it safely, he HAS to stop driving. I feel so sorry for you, man. And then hearing about the dispatchers sending police just to wake you up... BLOOD'S BOILING. It takes disgusting, selfish, evil people to do something like that. Doesn't the police know about this? Something has to be done about that too! Really hope you're okay, gonna watch your update on this now.

Totally agree. It's their job to make sure the employee's do their job. While OPs situation seemed genuine, you can another employee who just wants an extra break or who tries to get away with cheating the system. The good supervisors should be able to figure out the difference. They should have all the info they need, guy had a 10 hour break, then go assigned another 10 hour break (Informs them he was unable to sleep during the 2nd break) then they can see how far he went and add up the time he's been up to judge if he actually has been up 16+ hours or something. But I don't think they were rude to him and they were doing their job.

Dude. I've never seen your videos before, but 18 years of trucking companies pushing me, and I've learned one thing. It's in the 49CFR: You are in charge that truck and it's safety. If you wreck and hurt someone, you go to jail. Not the dispatcher. That's why it says you are the ultimate judge of what's safe and what isn't. The Justice Department can't tell you to get on the road if it wanted to. You did the right thing. I hope those assholes got fired. After about six months of driving, I'd have hung up on those ass clowns after 30 seconds, then turned my phone off. Addendum: I see on your jacket you work for Werner. That is how they operate. They don't care if you live or die. They just want you to drive. They didn't get a talking to. They got a pat on the back for trying so hard, with that Knute Rockne speech. Do yourself a favor, and go find a company that won't treat you like that. STAY AWAY FROM WERNER. The fact that they keep calling the cops is all the evidence you need that they're going to get you killed. Just quit. Trust me, if you tell a future employer where you came from, anything Werner puts on your DAC report won't mean dick to them. They are the joke of the trucking industry. I can't tell you how many times I've fought with them over hometime, hours of service, etc. I'd pend eight weeks on the east copast, only to be told they couldn't find a load back to California for my Grandfather's funeral. They have 5,000 trucks, and not one load? I finally finished a load in Denver, which was my home yard, and turned in my keys. They put on my dac report that I abandoned the truck because I didn't return it to Ohama, where I actually got the truck when it was new, even though I was standing there in my home yard. They wouldn't even give me a ride to the airport. Good luck, pal. If you stay, you'll need it.

I'm getting to be an old man, but in my 20's I used to do A LOT of driving (in a four wheeler). I rented a National Rental Car (when they had unlimited miles) and I put 32,000 miles on it in 60 days (turned out the place I rented from was a franchisee who I got to know later, and he wasn't so much mad at me when I turned it in, but heart broken). BTW at 70 MPH even a 4,000 pound car will do a lot of damage. When I was about 30 I had a DWI and blew a 0.11. When I tried to do the tests I realized I shouldn't have been behind the wheel, BUT AT LEAST MY EYES WERE OPEN. When I would go to sleep at the wheel (60 MPH = 88 Feet every second) even for a second I had way less control of the car then when I was drunk. Even when I was just tired (I was most subject to sleepiness between 4 AM and sunrise) during daylight hours I at time was in worse shape then the night I blew the 0.11. Now by tired I'm talking about a long day at the office. I'm talking about hard core, cooking the log book trucker tired! I left Raleigh headed to Reno at about 9 in the evening, I drove till about 4 in the afternoon (so no sleep for 30 hours) and was going to hit Kansas City in rush hour traffic, so I pulled over and slept a couple maybe 3 hours. I then made Utah line I think and it was 4 AM (by my east coast body time), pull over got about 2 hours and pulled into Reno in 45 hours. And at that kind of tired your mind starts doing crazy stuff. So I'm cruising down I-80 and all the sudden there is a child standing in the road. I slam on the brakes, I didn't hear a thud or feel an impact but I don't see the kid. So I pulled over, looked back, looked around. and it took my mind about a minute to realized there was never a kid standing in the middle of I-80 out in the middle of no where. Another time I had driven to Berkley, MI (12 mile road outside Detroit) and I had been up for about 24 hours, but I got an invite to meet the love of my life In Vero Beach, FL. I was 21 and hormones raging, I jumped in the car and headed to FL, I got to Daytona (now about 40 hours with no sleep) and I was that TIRED again. I pulled into a store to get coffee or a drink, but nobody was around. I was so tired it took about a minute for it to register in my mind that the store was closed. Now I ask you, what kind of reaction time do you think I would had in an emergency? Those are extremes, but as I gotten older and wiser I KNOW even regular tired can slow your reaction time. At 60 MPH an extra 1/2 second reaction is 44 feet! People are starting to talk about this, put not nearly enough. TIRED DRIVING IS AS BAD, AND CAN BE WORSE THEN DRUNK DRIVING! I COMMEND YOU FOR SAYING IT AND DRAWING THE LINE WITH THE COMPANY. I hope we can raise awareness of this issue!!

I'm glad that you publicized this. Not sure how the laws work in the U.S. but here in Canada, we have the right and RESPONSIBILITY to refuse unsafe work, just as you have. As a trucker myself in the oilfield, safety is taken very seriously because we operate on an exemption permit, which can easily be lost if too many violations are found. Our logs are audited regularly by a 3rd party company to make sure we are compliant to the terms of the permit. From a fellow truckers perspective, I see what he was trying to do with you based on the fact that you just had two tens, and therefore wouldn't be in violations of DOT regulations. However, the reality of the situation dictates that as far as Canadian labour and hours of service legislation, you were well within your rights and responsibilities as an operator to get some rest before delivering. We need more truckers like us who will gladly call out poor dispatch and management for a considerable lack of a sense of reality. Keep it shiny side up and stay safe!

I was a cross-country truck driver for 17 years. Where the big screw up in this story was he accepted the load. Don't accept the load until you crunch your numbers and find out if you can do it safely. If you cant, then tell them no you stand on that and you do not give in. Once you give in you are screwed. Take a 2 hour power nap and then go get the delivery done and learn from that. and don't put yourself in that situation again.

Okay, I didn’t even need to listen to the entire comms with dispatch. I turned it off after a few minutes. I’m retired military. I served through 2 wars. I’ve been required to perform in extremely arduous conditions, sir. From what I heard in your radio comms, the interest was the cargo and not the driver. Eliminate the the driver and you have no cargo, right? In fact, what you do have is a recipe for disaster. In the end, after all the coffee is drunk, and you’ve made a few circles around the vehicle, you’re still exhausted. Can’t help that. Tue radio operators? They know it, too! They’re lying to you if you’re told different. What’s at stake? Is the mission. The mission is the safe transport of DRIVER, and cargo second. If you need to turn off and catch some “Zee’s’. DO IT! Fuck the company. They’re looking out for only themselves. You! Are an afterthought. That was clear in the video. They don’t care about you! Let me say that again so there is no misunderstanding,,, they don’t care about you!!! They care about the product making it to the required destination and that’s what you’re hired to do. Fail? YOUR FAULT! I call bull shit! I ride a motorcycle when I’m not breaking my ass. When I pass a trucker, like yourself, I salute you. I’m military. It’s my way of saying: RESPECT! “Thank you for not running your truck over my bike”. If you feel that you are putting people in danger by driving “sleeping” while awake, you are guilty of a crime! Fuck the dispatcher. Dude, I’m FINE! I’m put in danger the MOMENT your dispatcher tells you to “keep going”, when you know you shouldn’t. HELL,,, is filled with people of good intentions. Dude!!!!!! Pull off the road. Believe me on this. Say you keep going, like dispatch set you [should]. And you kill someone. The cargo is GONE! At least, a major delay. The driver on the road? Dead or severely injured. You? The same. When you wake up in the hospital, if you’re lucky... they tell you there were one, two, three, or four deaths resulting from the accident, (arguable, at best)... you tell me... would you risk your job to prevent what you helped to happen? Drink a bottle of whiskey. And drive. Sleep ten hours, drive for twenty minutes, and drive another 10 hours and cause a death. You tell me; what’s the difference? You! Are on the road. The dispatcher has the companies best interest at heart. What do you do???? THINK HARD! By the way, I salute you, still!

As a man that has gone through CDL training, and currently acts as a bus driver, I was put in a similar situation. I informed my dispatcher that I was too tired to drive, which I believe was a reasonable thing to stare, as I was only operating on two hours of sleep, and 9hrs deep into a 12hr shift, about to start afternoon route. They told me to walk around, drink water, etc. this had me considering quitting just then. Something they DRILL YOU on is roadway safety. If you don’t do “x” you can get all passengers, yourself, and even other travelers killed. They tell you that in seminars all year around- yet when you head their warnings, and use your good judgement to protect against situations like that, they chew you out for not being there for route. It’s a crap situation, and no one deserves such two-faced treatment. Oh- and the best part..? You as the driver are still 100% liable if a crash does occur, even if you have recorded proof that your employer promised termination otherwise, as you still technically chose to operate the CMV under unsafe conditions. Driving tired is often just as bad, if not worse than driving drunk. CMV operators cannot exceed .04% Blood Alcohol Levels when operating any vehicle, and yet 20 hours of no sleep causes similar affects on driving as a .08% BAC does, yet this man with 17hrs of no sleep (which would be around .04% - 0.5% levels of impairment, depending on the acclimation to sleep deprivation) is told to continue driving. Makes absolutely no sense.

I went through the same crap. They don't give a shit about you; you're expected to be a driving robot. I drove buses for years, too, and it was the same. No consideration was given to the needs of an actual human being when making the schedule. No consideration was given to the fact I had a 2 hour commute to and from the office; as long as they gave me that 8 hours off (required by law and covering their own ass) I was expected to drive on only a few hours of sleep. It was even worse with buses as you don't have a sleeper, and have passengers, and therefore CANNOT pull over when tired. They'd routinely pull these shenanigans with scheduling, and schedule you time off that completely conflicted with your sleep cycle, so they could claim they gave you the requisite time off and expect you to drive. There was this constant, effing ridiculous expectation, that I sleep when I wasn't tired so I could drive when they wanted. And if I said anything, I'd be asked stupidly, why I didn't sleep when I was wide awake. After sleeping for 8 hours, I was expected to just go back to sleep for 8 more hours as if I have a power down option or some crap, so I could do a run on the opposite end of the day/night spectrum. That shit was CONSTANT. I remember no less than three separate occasions when I truly expected I mght die behind the wheel. I remember pinching the shit out of and even biting myself for hours on end to stay awake (and trying to hide it from the passengers). All because they gave me an overnight run after I'd been awake all day for a week with a group. And as long as I was willing to do that I was well liked. But after a couple of years, which pretty much permanently ruined my sleeping cycle and left me run into the ground with constant fatigue, I started speaking up. And that's when things started to sour. The people in charge all talk a good game about safety, and they'll never explicitly tell you to drive tired, but it's absolutely tacitly expected. I went to my dispatcher and told him no more runs before 6 AM or after midnight; I couldn't take the constant day and night swapping on a dime anymore. The result? I was basically blacklisted. Dispatcher pretty much stopped calling me. If you can't stay awake constantly there's this attitude that you're not a real man or difficult to deal with, etc. 🙄 I remember coming in to work one night and seeing another driver that looked like a effing zombie. I crap thee not he looked like death on legs. He looked utterly depleted. I asked him from where he'd come, and he kinda scoffed at the question. "Come from? I'm about to go out," he said. In all my time there only one group of passengers ever asked me if I was tired; because I looked friggin tired; because I was friggin tired. During the "busy season" you were expected to just function with little to no sleep for weeks on end. Most of them never even noticed, or if they did, didn't ask. Because they didn't care either. Just like the dispatchers they expected you to be a robot; just drive. This is all a product of greed too, on both the part of the companies and the drivers. They'd rather put people at risk than lose a few loads/trips. It was a nightmare and I'm glad I got out of it.

Was doing my 2nd cross continent drive in under a month. Going from the West Coast of Canada to the East coast. I decided to take the northern US to get some different scenery versus going across Canada again. In the NE on the turnpikes there are a lot of Toll turnpikes that have designated rest stops and you are forbidden from stopping along the turnpipe except at those designated stops. I was extremely tired after a day of driving and made the decision to sleep at the next rest stop. The problem was it ended up being about 45 miles and i was getting progressively more tired. I opened the windows and blasted the music and was still nodding off. Finally i was coming up on the exit to the rest stop and remember being so relieved after I turned into the exit. The next thing I am aware of is a large popping noise, scraping and another popping noise. I was so tired I guess my brain just turned off at the thought of finally being at the rest stop even though I hadn't parked yet. I had fallen asleep and driven over the barrier of the parking lot. LUCKILY i hit no other cars and only scraped the underside and popped both driver side tires. Had i been on the road I likely would have killed someone or myself. Driving tired is NO joke. You made the right decision.

Here's some advice from a guy who spent 35+ years in the business with 25 of that being OTR in the lower 48 and Canada. First off, ALWAYS be sure to record AND log every communication with your dispatcher, your safety director and your immediate supervisor so that way you are always covered legally. Do they no longer use the computers in the trucks? I retired in 05' from driving and in this business shit changes quickly my friend so you always have to stay one step ahead of the game. Anytime you have a dispatcher, supervisor or safety director force you to drive under unsafe circumstances, no matter the issue, if you as THE driver feel the current situation is unsafe, you stop the rig and take whatever break is required to correct the issue. OK, as I started to say in the previous sentence, any individual who forces you to drive when YOU deem it unsafe, you take that recorded data directly to your next weigh station or DOT agency and report that individual providing them w/your proof. It may cost you your job in the end however, you will have the needed proof to show you are a safe and professional driver and there are so many driving jobs out there my friend that you need not take anyone's bullshit, plain & simple!!! In my two & a half+ decades OTR I have legally logged, key word "legally", just under two million miles with "0" accidents and "0" moving violations for which I am very proud. With that kind of record you can name your job, your rate of pay and the benefits you want and I guarantee you'll get them. There are just too many driving jobs out there to fill and never enough drivers to fill them so never, NEVER take anyone's bullshit because lives depend on what you do my friend and I'm sure you already know that fact!!! I see your jacket there says "Warner Enterprises" and if that's who you were driving for when you made this video, I don't doubt for one second that those fools ordered you to drive unsafely and just get the load there. That company with its reputation should have been dismantled long, long ago!!! Best of luck my brother!

I've been a professional driver for 13 years, and there have been a few times I have dealt with this exact same situation. A vast majority of dispatch has NEVER driven a semi and don't have a clue what it's like and think these drivers are robots. Everything that those Afterhours dispatch said is what you don't do. If they put safety as an afterthought and put freight over safety, then they are looking at a very low driver retention rate. This is why dispatchers are being fired if they try to do this.

This is absurd, WTF do they expect people to do sleep in two 8 hour shifts back to back and then drive 11 straight hours. This is not safe, the guy says he hasn't been able to sleep and he is falling asleep and can't safely drive and not only do they encourage him to keep driving but then they threaten his job and pay. I'll guarantee that if he had listened and got in a wreck they would have pinned the blame him. Its not that important that something get from point A to B.

Just watched this video... The most common occupation for men from state to state is truck-driving... I've had my own experience with employers upping the anti on the part of the employee, almost seemingly as a method to weed-out all but the most desperate for work. I worked for a sub-contractor for Comcast doing service calls. We were expected to do 11 stops a day to make the espoused income to attract workers. At every stop we were expected to pull off the truck a 27 ft fiberglass ladder to check signal levels before the drop--something no one did at every stop (so institutionally inspired lie number 1). But most calls were for weak signal to the channel box... and some of these were for too many users on a single drop from the pole. Running a new drop from the pole takes great effort... I was averaging I think like a half dozen a month. Guys were surprised to hear this... they didn't do this many in a year. Instead, they would very often disconnect one neighbor to favor another giving rise to multiple outages and multiple visits from service reps. But with trucking, as you know, the stakes are much higher. So what would cheat would a company expect a driver to do when given two ten hour breaks such as you describe... Maybe they would want you to take a narcotic--unofficially. Well, full disclosure, I am in a dispute with the local community college, Heartland. Where I happen to know they have a biochem study going on to see the effects of crystal methamphetamine on the performance of mice in various test activities... i suppose such things as running mazes and pulling levers. But what would the purpose be of such testing?! To see how much more performance you could get out of a worker, say a truck-driver, on Crystal Meth Amphetamines?! They weren't doing testing on health, just performance. You tell me. If you want to see more about my dispute... it is documented in a series of posted email communications on my webpage: cfjurgus.com

Been trucking for over 20 years. This is a common tactic used to reduce the amount of drivers on payroll in certain areas, when freight hits bottom or is slowed. The out of services gives them a reasonable reason to let you go to reduce overhead until freight picks up again. Then out comes their advertising campaign with loads of false promises to bring in a new batch of temp drivers. Like the Feds say, "there is no shortage of drivers!" There's a shortage of drivers willing to work for for "The Bad Companies!" If you are going to work for the Big Guys, you need to look at it like a Cowboy; instead of "have saddle will travel," it's "have a CDL will travel." Just know when to get off, keep a clean record, be safe, just know that all them dispatchers got you marked as their sucker in a pinch.

Its remarkable to me how many people this day in age don't realize the seriousness of not getting enough sleep. Most American aren't getting enough sleep and most of us aren't even aware of the detrimental impact it has on our health. I believe that if we got more sleep and ate healthier and cut out cigarettes Americans could cut their health problems in half, if not more. It may take time but one day people will realize that getting adequate sleep is one of the simplest, best steps we can take to improving our health.

If a company or dispatcher ever tries to force you to drive beyond your limits, or tells you "we'll fire you" if you don't drive, tell them Go ahead and you'll be on the phone with the FMCSA first thing in the morning. Also they cannot deduct or charge you for not pulling a load. By law they can not deduct anything other than taxes, advances, child support, or other voluntary deductions such as 401k. They have to pay you for the miles you have driven even if you swap loads with another driver. Know your rights under the law and remember most dispatchers have never been drivers and usually have a 4th grade education.
