The 2025 Royal Mint pure silver proof sovereign coin matches the same weight of 7.98 grams and the same diameter of 22.05 mm as the traditional 22 karat gold sovereign coin. However, the thickness of the pure Silver Sovereign proof coin will be 2.56 mm whereas the 22 karat gold sovereign coin has a thickness of 1.52 mm. This is because pure silver has a lighter density of 10.5 grams per cubic centimeter whereas the density of 22 karat gold which is 17.7 grams per cubic centimeter. The Limited Edition Mintage is 50,000 coins for £79.99 each. Furthermore an additional 15,000 coins have the special privy mark for £125 each.

50 thousand is limited ?

For a clientele of 8.2 billion human beings (2024 consensus) yes, I would say it is. So, when the 50,000 pieces will be sold, then that’s it! In few years then some may emerge by some, ended being sold twice or even more the current price offered by the Royal Mint. Also, another thing to mention is that there is an estimation that silver will surpass gold at around the end of 2025 beginning 2026. There are speculations and posts in the internet that someone can check online!

Only 50k mintage... except for the other 15k with a privy mark. It is a beautiful coin and I would love one in my collection but not at £80, better buying a £20 coin that has twice the amount of silver for considerably less.

this isn't bullion - coins can have more value than just the metal content...
@RussellBury21 күн бұрын
@@shaung75 Some coins have more value than their metal content, usually if they are rare. This coin is not rare. Look at historic coins such as the crown, its 28g of .925 silver, fetches about £50. It is the content of silver that gives it the bulk of its value, this sovereign is demanding the bulk of its value from what?

It is the very first official issue issued by the Royal Mint the original maker. All the rest are not considered “sovereigns”. There are simply silver coins!
