At last ! This writer opines that it is 2 ‘L” meaning “Too Little, Too Late” ! The aid package should have been in place at least 6 months ago ! The delay due to wrangling in the FSB influenced Congress cost Ukraine dearly and Comrade Putin made ‘hay out of sunshine”. Perhaps, the Republican “traitor” core of the Congress was afraid that they will be answerable in to the future in case Ukraine lost the war to Russia. Hence, their reluctant approval for the military aid package to Ukraine. Perhaps, aid to Israel should be ‘conditional” so as to prevent the massacre of ‘hapless’ Palestinians and to prevent the deliberate starvation imposed upon the West Bank. In Ukraine’s case however, it was Russia who invaded that neighboring country so as to put its tentacles to grab Europe after the capitulation of the Ukranians. The FBI should investigate the “traitors” who opposed military aid to Ukraine and these “quislings” benefited enormously from Russian FSB funds. However, “better late than never” in Ukraine’s case !

You have a very deep misunderstanding of these politics in the USA. For one thing, "normal" here includes a pretty strong isolationist crowd and an anti-war crowd, with quite a bit of overlap between the two, and quite a bit of reinforcement due to the US experience, 1st in Iraq, and then in Afghanistan. (Maybe a little leftover from Vietnam too.) Then you have large groups who hate Biden and his Administration for (pick any or all) its social liberalism, its economic policies / inflation, its border policies, its mindboggling increase in regulations and gov't complexity, its obvious alliance with the uber-rich (over 90% of the donations from those people go to Dems) as the economic divide between said rich and the other 99% of the country continues to grow and ever more wealth concentrates at the very top, the harm they've done to middle-class business people, uh, shall I go on?? There are a lot of independents and conservatives who are just as p.o.'d as those pro-Pali protesters, they just are not the type to street protest - except those who did so on "Jan. 6", of whom at least 95% were well behaved and ~5% were not. A very large group suspects Biden's motives in Ukraine and suspects corruption because Biden has literally left a vacuum by not even stating any kind of real goals or strategy. Another group has deeper support for Ukraine but is also mystified by either Biden's weak support (particularly in spring and summer of 2023) or the previously mentioned seeming inability to clear up what the heck we are doing, or some combination of the two. A considerable number of people are of the opinion "Why waste the time and money if this is just a "hold back the Rooskis" action until Ukraine runs out of troops?" Or why do it when we have a weak / senile / incompetent President who's mental slips are getting worse almost by the day. It looks like a recipe for us to get trounced! I'm a very strong proponent of sending Ukraine whatever they need (short of nukes) to push Russia out of Ukraine entirely, including Crimea, but it's darn hard to fight some of those arguments, especially in a climate where so many people ARE being economically challenged: Spend the money to help people here, they say! (Never mind that the huge cost of having ever greater numbers of people dependent on the gov't is a bigger burden, but, I digress.) Then add a VERY large agit-prop campaign by Russia inside the US to take advantage of any and all the above, and this campaign has been very effective at swaying many of the above groups. That's why the polls show a slow but steady shift of public opinion, especially among moderates and conservatives against sending more aid to Ukraine. As that happens, more and more Republican legislators, whose caucus is not nearly so tightly controlled as the Democrats, shift away from supporting aid. Not all, by any means -- some quite conservative legislators still support aid, especially weapons aid, to Ukraine. But most of these legislators are simply responding to their voters, and veering away from Reagan style policies. They tend to do a lot of grandstanding in the process. God, would I like to debate them! The chances of more than 1 or two US legislators being directly corrupted by Russian money is, I think, very low. The FBI would sniff this sort of stuff out quickly if even a hint of evidence against a Republican Congress-person turned up. This means you need to come up with far more lucid and balanced arguments than that I am responding to. You have a mostly grassroots swing of opinion to deal with...
