This was exactly what I described to my husband. We’ve been waiting for our last move so we could finally buy our craftsman coop for our home. I kept trying to explain to my husband what I wanted around our free range area. This is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for making a video explaining all that I couldn’t. ☺️

Looks great. I am guessing there is not much snow in that area. I would like to something like this in New England. Probably a seasonal set up. The hog rings look like a lot of work to do every year
@AmandaJohnson777 ай бұрын
I used cable and rings with attached clips, so I could pull my net back and forth like a batting cage net, after I lost mine in heavy snow the first year. I also didn't completely seal my net to my fence, as it was for the day yard, and birds of pretty generally don't try to fly into areas they can't easily navigate with their large wings

What I did for hawks is buy some large plastic crows. Hawks get chased away by gangs of crows, so they stay away. For the weasels, I bought 2 large plastic owls, no more losses. Had to put razor wire at the top of my 8-foot fence to keep the bobcats from climbing in after losing about 70 chickens to the bobcats.

Very nice. I am an OCD kind of person that notices shoddy work, but this job turned out beautiful. In fact it adds to the landscape, not to mention the security of the chickens.

What about leaves?
@CarolinaCoopsVideos9 ай бұрын
@@gailmadsenclayton1769 Matt mentions to just use a leaf blower if that becomes an issue, but there aren't a lot of trees around the immediate area.

What type/ brand of netting did you use?

Wonder what effect this will have on pollinators.
@CarolinaCoopsVideos8 ай бұрын
Why would it have an effect on pollinators? We don't follow. Insects can easily get through the netting to feast on any flowers below.

@@ravenna9969 thanks for the insult :) from the video it’s hard to tell how big the netting pattern is. But FOUR months ago, the channel responded to me and addressed my curiosity.

Beautiful only thing I saw that I that was funny for a 50k chicken run under the gates can be dug right under easily.
@CarolinaCoopsVideos7 ай бұрын
Hi there. This is an aerial predator net installation to keep out daytime aerial predators, such as hawks and eagles. As for predators that would dig to get to the chickens, that would happen at night, where the coops are protected by predator aprons. Thanks for watching.

Doesn't the net collect a lot of leaves?
@CarolinaCoopsVideos8 ай бұрын
Hi, there aren't a lot of trees around that area where the netting is.However, if the netting catches leaves in the fall, we suggest just using a leaf blower to remove them. Thanks for watching.
