Over the past few weeks, I researched and auditioned over a dozen wireless noise cancelling headphones. Since they are feature packed, I had to sort through what suited me best first. Then I started listening. ----- Exclusions: Must offer option to turn off ANC/DSP, must have ear sensor pause, I dislike touch controls, must have at least 3.5mm passive wired mode (for MQA off my ifi Gryphon when at my travel destination hotel), must have great app function, must have solid build (light metal/leather is a bonus), must look great but not flashy. ----- Priority ranking: sound/features/design-style/cost: #1 overall value is B&W Px7 S2, #1 design/sound/features is B&W Px8, #1 sound/features/design (and my pick for keeper) is the Mark Levinson 5909. ----- Honorable mentions: Sennheiser Momentum 3 (crazy great sound/build/style/functionality for super low price now) Drop Panda (crazy great sound with THX amp in wireless or wired DAC mode, close to the ML 5909 in sound quality, sexy stealth design, and super quiet passive noise isolation). Such a shame they had battery issues. Mine still works flawlessly. ----- OBSERVATION: Bathys are worst value from my research: full time ANC/DSP (lipstick on a pig. What bad driver to cup design is being covered up?? And DSP degrades MQA provenance), no ear sensor, separate port for 3.5mm (the best use USB-C for charge/DAC/and 3.5 through adapter), look like a kid to with flashing lights, lint collection material under headband, holes in cups hard to keep clean for portable use and cheap plastic for most of build. Charging $799 for this mess is robbery!!! Someone should be fired for bringing this junk to market. Maybe worth $399 at the most. NOTE: I love their speakers and most of their wired headphones so, no bias. ----- Love your videos!

Thanks guys, this is most helpful! About the mid-range headphones: I have experience with the Bose 700 and the Momentum 4. The Momentum sounds astonishing, the Bose merely very good. The main difference is in the bass, which goes noticeably deeper in the Momentum and is silky smooth. The Momentum also has a tad more clarity in the vocals. For cycling I prefer the Bose 700 for how its deals with wind noise. On the Bose, when the ANC is on you also have wind noise reduction (WNR). On the Momentum 4 WNR is separate from ANC. Unfortunately, the Momentum's WNR interferes with its ANC. Setting both WNR and ANC to maximum gives less ANC than when WNR is off. Setting WNR to auto and ANC to maximum makes the ANC switch on and off, dependent on the wind. Possibly I just haven't yet found the right combination for the various ANC and WNR settings on the Momentum. Maybe our vakmannen have a suggestion for me? For now I've settled for Bose on the bike and for Momentum where the wind does not blow.

The headband is much improved as well and doesn’t suffer from weak points as some of there lowers models do. And there earbuds like Liberty pro3 or Liberty 4 are all so again all the quality fraction of the price. You can get the Q-45 and one of there latest models of earbuds for less than $200 if you shop around. And no I’m not with sound core just impressed for what you get for the price.

I have the H95s, and they are the best-sounding thing I’ve ever heard. I also agree with the touch control, ANC, and Transparency mode comments, as those are not as good as others on the list, especially the offerings from apple. I recommend these if you want insane build quality and the best sound possible. You will have to be willing to give up the best ANC/Transparency and some touch control sensitivity for what these have to offer. Also, wait for a sale before you get there or try them out in a store.

I am in love with my H95s! I was able to find a crazy deal on Amazon for only $349!! I just had to buy new ear pads. These headphones are so insane when it comes to sound quality, I can only wonder if the Mark Levinson 5909 might trump it. Perhaps, but the bass on these things are my weak spot, they might not *pound* like Beats, but the frequency goes LOWW, like earthquake rumble low. I am blown away.

@@jgizzy I found a demonstration pair today at $350. I am torn between them and the M4.
@jgizzy Жыл бұрын
@@kundakaps The M4s feel like cheap plastic, like reallly cheap plastic in comparison the H95s which are built like tanks they feel extremely premium. The sound quality/fidelity is much better than the Sonys -- however the Sonys will get somewhat louder at max volume and the bass may be bumped up. However, the quality of the sub-bass in the H95s go VERY low and also are pretty bassy headphones in their own right. The app changes the headphones quite a bit in terms of sound signature so you can turn them into bass-head warm headphones or light and crystal clear with maximum fidelity (for bluetooth headphones). My Mark Levinson N5909s are somewhat better than the H95s but they are $1000 and I still find myself opting to wear the H95s more because of how it feels and the controls are so perfectly designed with the spin wheel volume and noise cancelling. The ML N5909 and M4 may sound very good when using the LDAC codec but overall the H95 quality is exceptional and would not hesitate to get them over the M4s. The only thing the M4s are better at is noise cancellation, imo.

I have the xm5's currently, went from the Soundcore Q35's and I do like them but honestly compared to the Q35's having some more creature comfort features and better ANC, still not convinced these are $300 better, don't get me wrong the Sony's are extremely comfortable but the all plastic build makes them almost feel cheap but the price tag says other wise so i'm still on the fence on keeping these or returning them and sticking with the q35's since I mainly use them for my work from home job and sometimes listening to music on my phone while I work out.

One of the very best headphone roundups on the web. I have watched it several times now, and it is just amazing. Love that you include the Technics and some others. The standouts are the Q45 because ....WOW. I am thinking of getting them as a gift for someone. I have the momentum 3s but got the chance to audition the momentum 4 and the H95. That is a problem because I got the H95 for less than half price and the Momentums for about £50 off. Wat to do. Having heard both, I am really struggling to let either go. They both sound amazing and sound quality is my JAM!! Any thoughts? Recently pulled out the HD650s for an evening listening session and am reminded what is possible- the Bluetooth headphones just don't compare to copper wire at the moment - especially when the production of the track is good, and if you get high resolution - the HD650 can drag tears out of your eyes. The Momentum 4's, though - wow. The bass is just EVERYTHING. Wow - it just resonates so beautifully. Then the H95. GoodnessMe!!! The whole of the sound is made into a stream that flows through you. I love them both, and the more I listen, the harder it gets to decide - I thought having them in person would make things easier - instead, it makes things MUCH harder. IU should have chosen a pair off spec and had done with it. I suspect multiple ANC headphone ownership is in my future. Thanks again for the fantastic video and the work you put into it. I don't always agree with your conclusions, and I love that - we all hear differently - I do, however, love the way you come at the reviews and the joy you bring in doing it. I tried the momentum 4s. The sound was great. NC was ok. There were lots of glitches in the phone call connectivity though. I felt like they were in need of a major firmware update to handle that more gracefully. One thing I kept running into…even if the headphones were off my head and should have been asleep after 10-15 minutes of doing nothing, they would still pick up phone calls….which is really irritating when one is across the room from them. Also, They often disconnected the call when one used the iphone to pick up the call. All in all, I sent them back. Sound quality is very important, but for mobile bt headphones, they really need to handle calls well.
@VeitLehmann2 жыл бұрын
Oh, that sounds bad... I have mine for a couple of days now and already did some calls with them, phone and conference calls. Never had any call related issues with them so far. I just hope it'll stay that way, because the actual feature set is awesome for calls. However, I encountered other software issues, like they wouldn't automatically reconnect to previously paired devices, and when paired to both a Mac and an Android phone, you can't control the phone's volume and skip tracks from the earcup's touch surface. Annoying but manageable for now, and I hope they'll fix all the issues soon. I really do, because I just love how they sound and I don't want to switch to other cans.

Thanks to these vids I upgraded from an ancient pair of sennheiser pxc550's to the momentum 4's. I tried on the Sony xm5's and loved the level of noise canceling, but they weren't the most comfortable even after a few min on in the store. Definitely not for a smaller sized head. So far I'm fairly happy with the m4's. The sound is great and I love the vocal clarity for audiobooks. I do wish they had better anc, as I work around lots of industrial fans and while the wind is blocked out, the blade sounds are only muffled.

Interesting - I also have the PxC550s ( a variant also from Sennheiser), and I leaned closer to the Momentum 4. I had Momentum 2 and Momentum 3 also. I love the sound of the 4. It sounds natural to me. Other headphone sound signatures sound a little alien to me (except for the B&O signature which I also like) , and while they are good - I just don't end up liking them. I feel comfortable with Sennheiser and B&O. I have some Sony, too, but the Sennheiser sound is the one I go for. Do you have any of that, or do you not connect with that at all? I don't want to assume. I was just interested as you had the PxC550s before the Momentum 4.

This is as good as anyone could get for a review! Still, one thing is bugging me: you guys decided to get the Edifier S3 on the list for sound quality, so how does it stack up to the top notch ANC ones? Is it above them all or do the H95 or the Bathys still get better sound?

Excellent review. I have actually ordered the Momentum 4 earlier today after watching your review of it but after watching this video I believe I am going to return it and get the XM5. As someone who answers a lot of business calls, the XM5 makes it look I’m sitting at my desk instead of being in the park. Of course unless the Momentum 4 blows me away with its sound

I am missing the Yamaha YH L700a in your list. Few days ago I had the chance to hear them in a store. I was really surprised by the sound and the incredible DSP features. They are Hi Res certified for the wired mode.

The Apple’s are great if you don’t mind terrible reliability and them breaking after 1 year just outside of warranty.

If anyone is interested I just saw the Shure Aonic 50 are going for $135 at Best Buy! Hands down the best deal I've seen this year

Hi guys, love the reviews and thank you for testing all of these out for us! I'm looking into either the Soundcore q35 or q45 and was wondering if you had the chance to test them out while riding a bike? Just curious!

Maybe I received a faulty unit but the ANC on the 1More Sonoflow is not usable for anyone who is traveling on a regular basis or commuters for example. Almost no train noise was canceled, sometimes even making it seem louder. Going for the Momentum 4 now.

Really nice and detailed video to recap all headphones for the end of the year. I wonder what the neighbours think when they see a guy standing at the edge of the road shouting Pop pop posicle, ice ice icicle, test test testicle?

That was a very impressive video! Well done. But fyi, you don't need a lot of money to be in the Apple eco unless you have to have the newest best model as soon as it is released.

I've had the Q30s for 6 months now and I love them, sound, ANC and transparency mode are all great. But I'm having issues with them squeaking/rattling because of the plastic, especially when I'm walking. I'm considering upgrading to the XM4 now bc I've seen them for a good price and they seem to hold up well over time

Sadly here looking for a replacement pair. Build quality at the hinges are terrible. I do use them to workout so looking for cans that perhaps don't fold like the xm5. 9 months and I need a replacement.
