I am a firm believer in having my gear protected. I use a pelican case I bought at a yard sale. It the size of a small suitcase 18 inches wide 12 inches tall and 8 inches thick It originally held some sort of surveying instrument. I keep everything in the pelican case. It home to my ft818 a heathkit tuner a 3.5 amp power supply, several complete Hf multiband antennas, A 12 volt sla battery, A LED tuning indicator. a note pad and pens. A straight key. A set of earbuds. A small flashlight and even a dummy load and multimeter. What I do not have is a microphone, I seem to have misplaced it and am not sure where it is ! All gear inside the pelican case is in pouches, Most I either make or buy at goodwill or yard sales. I do not spend much money in this hobby. I only operate qrp cw I have many qrp rigs Most live in their own house All I have to do is grab a handle and go It is important to keep a handle on humidity. Here in south louisiana it not good to keep your gear sealed up airtight Unless you know the air inside id dry Which here it seldom is. 73

You know I love go-kits. I used that same bag for my 2m Go kit. Never thought about putting the 818 in there - great idea. For my 818 kit, the mission was to be able to operate out of the bag.

I have the same pouch in OD green. I use it to carry an MFJ IntelliTuner and the associated cables.

I have the same for my KX2 but it came with the Radio. Now I do have a FT817ND and this is a good idea since I have the same stuff scattered around the shack.

I forgot......coax. Lots of room for coax. When I operate portable low power I only use RG-174 up to 35 feet. In every pouch or carry case I have for portable, I have a 25 and 10 foot length of RG-175. Barry KU3X

HNY - Great vid. You are always well organized. I would say, for any car camping and other operations involving a car this is great. I do not use this kind of bags or pouches since I cycle from time to time and they would be difficult to put inside my backpack. My KX2 lives in the Lowepro padded bag (designed for the photo equipment) which can still fit inside the small backpack. Everything else must be happy with the ziplocks.
