Under seat backpack (or personal bag) limits aim for no more than 9x10x17. Carry on luggage in overhead bin 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches for domestic travel. My view on luggage brands - Travelpro luggage for value/quality, Briggs and Riley (baseline) if you really have the money.

You might be able to make that work depending on how full the bag is. But it’s probably better to go a little smaller then to be stuck with a bag that doesn’t fit. 😉

First time flyer coming up and it's international. Three questions. The first: Can I bring aerosol body spray that's a 5.3oz can in a checked bag and hair treatment in a 2.1oz can in carry on? Second: Can I bring a power adapter strip in carry on even if I don't necessarily need it in flight but need it when I land? Third: For the personal bag, is a 45L back pack good for domestic and international flights? I have a 45L back pack and didn't want to have to buy a smaller one if I didn't have to. Thank you!

1. Yes, you can carry a 5.3oz can of body spray in a checked bag. Just make sure the cap is on it so it doesn't accidentally release. And the 2.1oz can of hair treatment is ok to take in a carry-on but it will have to be placed in a clear quart-sized bag. 2. Power strips are technically allowed in carry-on bags but the final decision does rest with the TSA 3. A 45L backpack would be too big for a personal item bag but you could use it as a carry-on. However, since you are traveling international then you will want to choose a bag that is 40L or less if you want to use it as a carry on as international carriers tend to use smaller overhead bins. Otherwise, if you want to use a backpack as a personal item then it needs to be around 32L.

Your a lifesaver, I haven’t flown Since I was really young so I’ve been super anxious about everything, you videos have really helped me prepare for what im going to experience and know what the restrictions for what I can pack! I was wondering, im brining a birthday gift and was thinking of just putting a gift bag, a package of tissue paper and then the gift itself in my personal bag, is that okay to do? (The gift itself It’s just a stuffed animal) I Also take medication for my diabetes, should I leave that on top so when I go through the security check the person can look at it?

So glad to hear you have found the videos helpful! To answer your questions, no problem to put a gift bag with a stuffed animal in your personal bag. For medication, definitely keep it in a place where you can easily get to it just in case airport security wants to look at it.

Hi Ben!! I'm flying for my first time come December and I see a lot of people, including yourself, that recommend checking in online 24 hours prior to the flight. However my question is how does getting your bag checked work when you check in online? I know you receive a QR code for the boarding pass but what about your bags? Hi Ruby, anytime that I need to check a bag I will do the online check-in and then once I get to the airport I use one of the kiosks near the check-in area to print my bag tags and pay any fees if needed and then drop off my bag to one of the airline employee’s working the check-in area. Once you do that you are free to head to the security lines.

May I ask if I can bring my neck pillow on the plane without counting toward the weight limit of my carry-on? Like wrapping the pillow around my neck when going through the security instead putting it in my bag?

You won't be able to wear it through security but will have to place it in a security bin for x-ray screening if you do not want to keep it in your bag. As long as you do that the neck pillow won't count towards the weight of your carry-on.

Yes, the rules apply to most of the airlines. The major differences you will see is for weight. For example, JetBlue has a 50lb weight limit whereas Spirit has a 40lb weight limit for checked bags.

Yes, as long as it meets the correct dimensions you can use a tote bag as a carry-on or a personal item bag. You can also put your purse, cell phone etc. in the tote bag as well.

Yes, you can bring the liquid children's medicine. Just make sure you remove it from your bag so it can be screened separately from the rest of your belongings.

Yes you can carry bottles of alcohol from duty free shops within the airport on the plane. If you are bringing alcohol back from an international destination then then the bottles will need to be placed in tamper-evident bags and you may have to pay taxes on the alcohol purchased over a certain amount depending on the country you are returning to.

You are allowed one quart sized bag of liquids. So you can either pack them in your carry-on or personal item bag. You will just have to take it out when going through security. Your perfume will need to be 3.4oz or less and placed in your bag of liquids.

You can take your ps4 in either bag. If you pack in a carry-on or personal item bag then you will need to take it out at security and place it in a bin to be x-rayed. If the controllers are larger than a cellphone then those will need to go in the bin as well. Cables and chargers can stayed in your bag.
