I recently purchased a 2016 C7 Corvette, and I wanted to share all of the research that I used to help me find the right one for me. Much more content on my C7 Corvette coming soon!
In this video I am primarily sharing big changes and general overviews of each model. PLEASE research the model/year that sounds right for you to get more specific details. I currently own a 2004 C5, machine silver over black.It has 19,000 miles on it with C7--Z06 wheels. I have the original 5 spoke polished wheels. I'm getting a torch red C7 and I appreciate your comments and info.Thank you. BTW my first corvette was a 1970 convertible with both tops,donnybrooke green over green, 327 c i. 300 hp. 4 speed, that I purchased new in 1970.

I decided to order a new 2013 Z06 base instead of getting the 2014. I knew the new car would be plagued with issues for about it's first 2-3 model years. So far, almost 6 years and 62,000+, the car has not had any electrical or mechanical issues. And I got 7-8 years worth of updates, upgrades, improvements, TSBs, etc. All I've done is oil/filter changes, front brakes and repair some road debris damage. It's has been as reliable or more than cars I've had which were made in Japan. With Michelin tires, the car is incredible to drive and cured several handling issues caused by the OEM Goodyear Eagle F1 EMTs. This car is SO good, the C7 has little enticement for me. And...It's THE LAST 427 they'll ever make.

Interested in the performance exhaust. I understand the hp improvement but what is the difference in sound. Does it have a quiet touring mode as well as louder sport or track modes. I haven't found a good youtube the compares the sounds of the C7 in different modes.

Is there any difference between the bottom end of the motor itself between the grand sport and z06. Obviously the supercharger, but I am looking to get a c7 and put a procharger on it, so the factory supercharger doesnt mean anything to me, but the platform being sturdy enough for boost is important. Bottom end is forged on the z06 1000+ capable and the lt1 on the regular ones is safe for 750-800 wheel with a good tuner

I'm seeing a lot of 2014-2015 C7 for sale on the internet for around $30-36k with decent miles (40k-60k miles) What's your opinion on that? I'm probably gonna pull the trigger soon and sell the c5 for one, I can get $11-12k for the c5 knocking the c7 price down even more. Most likely will get the manual transmission but we'll see (:

PLEASE EXPLAIN to me why the heater stops blowing hot air when the button to retract the the roof is pushed on the dashboard...makes no sense to me...is this a over sight? is this a programming error? What is the logic...The coupe allows you to manual control the heater when the roof has been removed. Why do you need to run the temp control at HI to get any heat in the cabin with the top down...sure wish I could return car for a coupe...THANKS...hope to hear from others on this issue/bug/design blunder/ etc.

I am retired sold my Ron Fellows in 2015 for a Chevy SS Sedan not good maverick, sold the SS and shopping a C7. Having had the Z06 and the LS3 which i put an LSA SC on, is the LT1 hot enough for street only fun for old people. I had Mag Shocks in the SS and loved them do i need Mag Shocks on the C7? The Z06 is beyond my price range, should i consider the GS or Z51 for a Sport ride? Not a race car. Found a 2LT with Mag Shock option is that close enough for an old man cruiser. What about used Mileage? Seen 7,000, 15,000, 30,000 50,000 even 65,000 miles still pulling down $40,000 asking price, is that nuts? Nice video on options and offerings now i need to find my LAST Corvette and am ready to cruise.

Good review without having to read all the books and trying to put it all together. Plus a newbie can grow his knowledge quickly with your "Cliff Note" review. As I have moved around different brands the hardest part was understanding all the model and option names. It does get pretty confusing. Plus with the Corvette you have the choice of hardtop vs. convertible. And then the manual verses automatic. My previous Corvettes were coupes with manual transmissions. This time looks like another coupe with an automatic.

If a Corvette has Z51 package can it still have a 1LT? The most I have seen are 3LTs I was wondering when u get the z51 does it default to a 3LT?

Yes. If you go the chevrolet website, you can play with the configurations of the corvette. Basically you can have a stingray with 1LT, or with Z51+1LT, 2LT or 2LT + Z51, 3LT or 3LT +Z51. Essentially, Z51 is paired with either 1LT, 2LT, or 3LT. There is not such thing as a "Z51" only, it must have a trim level to go with it.

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback 👍 C7 just means the 7th generation of the Corvette. Z51 is a performance package available for the Corvette Stingray. Depending on whether the number is in the front or back of the LT it could mean the engine or the the trim level. For example the LT1 is the engine in the Stingray and Grand Sport. 1LT would be the base trim level going up to 3LT. Hope that helps!

I know I'm real late to this party but I have to tell someone. I got the opportunity to drive a C7 ZO6 today. Words will never be able to describe the experience. Your foot could easily kill you in this car. I have never been so afraid of a car before. 60mhp and barely tap the gas and the car will break the tires loose like you sitting still. Crazy power. Insane power. I been in some fast cars, but this thing seriously scared me. Badges all over saying 650hp and 650 ft lbs of torque..........its one of those cars you can feel in your chest. When I got out of that thing, my nerves were shot. Took an hour just to calm down. I loved it, absolutely loved it, but it also scared me. Thinking just anyone with enough cash could buy something like this. That's scary. There should be a special licence for cars like that. Not just anybody should be able to jump into a monster like that. That car is a beast and way to much car even for most experienced drivers. The old man that owns it, he's scared of the car. This man dragged raced cars his entire life and he'll tell you that ZO6 has no business being on public roads. It's a full blown race car. And the one I drove today was a convertible. No roll cage, or 5 point harness, just 650hp casket. Beautiful car. Words just do it no justice.

Nice video. I'm looking for a sports car in the 100,000 to 125,000 U.S. range. Why is it so hard to find nice round gauges.. In the 70's all sports cars had at least 7 gauges .... Speedometer... RPM ... Fuel ... fuel pressure ... oil pressure ... oil temp ... water temp ..... When the idiot lights for transmission or engine comes on ... bye bye `~5000.00$ ... Any idea which car comes with more gauges...

+1111pyramids1111 Thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure about the most gauges, but I can tell you that the C7 Corvette has configurable gauges on the center screen. You can actually customize it to show almost anything you would like to see. It won't show all of them at the same time though.

Chevy, I think, did a pretty decent job with the C7 Stingray W/Z51 package and the GS, in terms of how well they perform on the track. However, they need get the Z06 going. They had us believe that the C7 Z06 is a better track car than the ZR1. And most of us aren't buying it, especially with the Z06 overheating issues. And, no disrespect to the Camaro team at GM. I think they've been doing a fantastic job with the Camaro. And I neither do I mean any disrespect to Camaro fans. But a Camaro shouldn't be able to outperform a Z06 on the track. Well, at least not one that uses the exact same engine. The Corvette team's gotta do better with the Z06. And, hopefully, the new and upcoming ZR1 will be king again.

Robin Sage I got the magnetic suspension on the base non-z51. I like it because it can be nice and soft in tour mode, which is the same as the base car. It can also stiffen up when you're on a smooth road or at a track day. I had an M3 with a super stiff suspension, and it wasn't really comfortable on rough city streets.

+Edmund Li There are a lot of differences between 1LT and 3LT. Some of the biggest differences are things like the head up display, heated seats, built in garage door opener, auto dimming mirrors, leather wrapped interior, etc. Some options that are not available on a 2014 3LT are the front view curb parking cameras and performance data recorder. hm, yeah i´m really pissed of because i feel cheated by chevy. The first Corvettes EU versions arrived in 2013 ? i think and the price was 10000€ less !! The Camaro and Mustangs are nice and good price wise but when i drove the C7 and felt in love with her. Still a tight coffin for a 6.6" ;-) Now AUDI comes with the RS3 sedan which is a full 4 door daily driver, smaller, better rear view and less blind spots. That devil does 0-60 in 3.6sec due to AWD and cost about 15000 less than the C7Z51 here. But there is nothing better than driving a V8.....perhaps the ZL1 will come here too ?

Here is the huge gulf. When I lived in Sweden in the 90's, Volvo's were quite a bit cheaper in the US. Germany is about the same price on their cars as the US. The problem is, it's even worse now. Eu tariffs are high. For example, a US car Imported to Europe is almost 20%, China 25% Tariff,. But vehicles imported to the US is a 2% Tariff. This is the case on many things. Japan and China has dumped products in the US for years.

you didn't mention the issue with direct injection and how the carbon buildup can cause engine issues. GM is correcting this by creating a hybrid motor for future corvettes of both fuel injection and direct injection

Young people have college loans, their wedding and honeymoon costs, saving for a house, travelling to see the world (we did before we had kids to see Paris, Canada, Caribbean, New York, Miami/Florida keys, New Orleans). Young people aren't gonna buy a $55k-$100k car with 2 seats when they are starting a family, 401k retirement contribution, that would be silly.

+mrpmj00 You've got a very valid argument, but I think you've underestimated "young people". I'm 24 and have no student loans debt, my wife and I both contribute to our 401Ks (even beyond the company match percentage), we own our home (with significant equity), own and actively invest in a stocks, carry no credit card debt, and have emergency savings set aside. Now is actually the ideal time for me to buy a Corvette. When we do have children I will obviously reevaluate if I should sell it or keep it, but we're not planning on crossing that bridge for a while. I think that the C7 is priced extremely low for the value it offers. Especially if you buy a slightly used one like I did to avoid depreciation. I think that the new Supra is awesome, but I certainly wouldn't say that it's a much better option than a C7 Corvette. It really just depends on your preference. Thanks for your feedback.

When I was 24, I was out of school 1 year and had college loans that took 10years to repay but it was worth every penny.
