The guy has done a good job of building this car and proves the point well that anyone wanting to do this regularly will spend and spend and spend, it never stops, he's spent a couple of quid there on some good stuff, everyone who knows loves a Clio 172 / 182 for tracking but also should look a Seat Leon Cupra R, already have a turbo (they love a remap) and Brembo four pots, save yourself 8K straight away :) Brake pads and fluid should be 1st on anyone's list, tyres 2nd (look at Federal RS-R's, start from £70!), then the world is your oyster depending on how deep your pockets are...

if people could start over, does it matter if you get the 182 or 172? is it worth spending an extra 4k to get the trophy? its already got a suspension upgrade and better wheels
@GuysThatDrive4 жыл бұрын
For a cheap track car project I’d say go for a 172, it’s cheaper and actually has better power delivery as the torque peak kicks in lower so really doesn’t feel any slower. The trophy is a different beast, only worth using as a track car if you have a deep pocket. they will hold their value as collectible cars and less so as a track toy.

@@GuysThatDrive wow thanks for the amazingly quick response! Yeah the trophy, whilst built to drive, seems to be more of a collectors item. Shame how the most special edition cars always become investments!

Ive got a 172, lovely car but no way has he spent 30k on it lol his talking out his arse
@chriseconomides49437 жыл бұрын
Hi Chaps, this happens to be my little beast. I can assure you Mr Hamaad Raja that I have VAT Invoices to prove the £30K spend. I am not able to spanner myself and therefore I pay the professional the going rate to do all the work on my car. However the £30k spend is NOT what this car is about. It's about what you can do to a car, and if I ever decided to put a sequential box in it you can add £10k straight away. So yes it's one of the best 172 Clios in the country from a performance point of view. But then it should be after spending £30K. When I am next out on Track you are all welcome if you ever spot me out to come in for a few laps if you dare!!!

Alex Heath not all at once, just over the years. Think he just likes upgrading to expensive decent parts! The car was a rocket and sounded amazing. Forgot to ask what exhaust system he was running
@alexheath14167 жыл бұрын
I've got a Clio 182 I'm currently building for track days (avid watcher of your Clio build) I think a lot of this 30k must be on labour surely though as I'll be at 4K with mine and all he it it's not super charged it'll be running a full cage with a whole host of other upgrades including semi slicks

Yeah, if you get someone to do it and replace everything that's worn out in the box (bearings, selectors etc etc) comes out near that.

@@GuysThatDrive considering the money he has spent I'd say it's a great buy for someone. I'd have it if I had 7 grand ish spare for a track toy. I think his ad could be better with regards to full spec or even a link to your video would help sell it. What's happened to your cup im missing the updates!?
@GuysThatDrive4 жыл бұрын
This car was an absolute track weapon, not much more you could want to do it. Hopefully it sells and doesn’t get split into parts. Our cup is resting up at the mo, have more planned for it and new parts to fit. Want to try and get a few track days in this year so should have some new vids at some point! Thanks for sticking with us!
