Hi Sam, nice to see it actually doing something useful again :-) Maybe the fuse popped because of our 230V outlets here in Germany?

hey julien!!! yes it lives!!! its strange as when i tested it first it was fine, only started happenning a few hours into working with it, which is usually the case with these RIFA capacitors. they always fail. mad they were sat inside the socket haha. but yeah after that a transistor died! but now its working happy days!!!!

@YaKefir not really. What I meant was a capacitor in the PSU which constantly gets loaded. If the PSU is for 230V and you use it on 110V it is possible that the capacitor or whatever constantly uses more and more electricity what finally brings the fuse to pop. possible to much Ampere.

Can you please define the extraordinary "job" on this? I've done that in the 90s together with my producer friends, when we are bored to work with our SSL desks for the big major labels. And I mean that seriously. And the only reason you are commenting here is because you want to profit from his reach. If he had only 100 subs, regardless of the content (!!), you would just ignore him Mr. Magic-Hand-Waving-Hainbach. I've lost complete respect to you because as someone who are claiming that analog is the real deal (which is!), and then making money with useless terrible PLUGINS... well... you showed everyone your real purpose behind everything. >> making money even if you have to sell your soul. Cheers.

Anyway, now that I got you back, I am loving the C64 sid chip music my friend! I am very impressed by how much music and synthesis you can get out of such a under powered machine. I have tried as I may and tried as I might to get the same results with a much more powerful PC system running Windows 95 and a Pentium with 32mb ram, 1GB HDD and soundblaster 32 soundcard and there was ALWAYS crashes and stuck notes, and other issues! I am in awe as to how the much older computers where able to just freakin work!

Wow...I grew up near Commodore Canada where the PET was created. I knew (and used) the 4016, 4032 and 8032 PETs for years, I learned programming on them. We used to go dumpster diving behind the Commodore HQ for all kinds of great computer bits that had been tossed out. I had a VIC-20 and C64 and programmed them for years. I wrote and sold C64 software. But I NEVER heard of this 4064 before!!!

Dang... that music sure reminds me of my childhood around C64s! There may be a way to fix the monitor issue. The screen size on that thing is larger than the older/original pets, and looks to be about the same as the actual C64 monitors of the day. You _may_ be able to swap the the CRT itself with a proper C64 monitor and just fit it into that housing. Save the original, just like you did for the motherboard in case you want to restore it, but if that fits, that would give you a colour monitor and make the software easier to use.

In regards to the other motherboard without the sid, you might be able to make your own sound system with the user port, similar to a Disney sound source or covox speech thing (I think it was called that). Basically an R2R ladder DAC on the user port, and you output the sample value, and hook the output to a speaker. It's a bit CPU intensive, but it can he surprisingly high quality

6:48 Replace it. It is not just to prevent stuff like voltage spikes from fridges switching on from causing glitches in the computer, but also to prevent the 1MHz or so signal from causing interference to broadcast radio. Old computers could radiate pretty badly. 3 capacitors that form the RFI suppressor cost a whopping €4 or so if you buy them from Farnell or a Farnell-redistributor.
