if you're incredibly active? Felonies. if they can prove who you are? they know WHO you are and can prove it? they will pin EVERY thing that they can prove you did onto you. racking up hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages. particularly if you're into using Etch Bath on windows. that's the greatest way to get your name bumped up to the top of "the list". Most of the times though, it's just fines and community service with some minor jail time, unless you're prolific. most cities (in america), as far as i know can't afford dedicated vandal squads; the funding just isn't there. around here they only had one graffiti "detective". in New York they have an entire vandal squad dedicated to documenting and catching writers. in cities where they don't have dedicated squads to combat this, they used to "buff" or paint over the freeway retainer walls before the morning commutes to deter writers from painting them. unfortunately for the city i live in, it's become so overrun that they can't keep up anymore. hope this gives you some insight.
