I have frag 85.3 and reef 230.6. Love them both. Glad to see BRS carrying Waterbox again.

Water box’s quality has certainly risen. The stand is solid and I like the fact that they’ve included a gate valve for precision tuning. The tanks glass has more clarity for viewing than the average glass aquarium.👌Thanks for the tour Matthew..

I hear that waterbox “STAND” behind their product that it can “ STAND “up to the pickiest of customers !! Pun intended 😂

By far one of the best systems out there for shallow reefs. 🙌

Nice, very good overview on what I want to upgrade to. Do they do a sump you can drop in a roller mat so we dont have to take a knife and make a mess to the pretty sump to remove the filter sock holders?
@sailorjbn2 жыл бұрын
U have to remove the sockholders yourself but if u do it before installing the sump its not so bad...

The klir filter rollers fit right into the stock sock holders. Works great on mine.

Thanks for sharing Matthew and looks like a neat system. Not sure I agree saying they’re ‘absolutely the top of line commercially available frag tanks on the market, period’ - have you seen the CADE frag tanks? How would you compare?

Are the flex mounts for the hydras any good?
@BRStv2 жыл бұрын
Everyone has a slightly different personal preference. No doubt they'll get the job done. That said, most of us around the BRS office prefer the HMS single light mount kit or multi light mount kit.

Ive got the waterbox frag 145.5 been running for just over 8 months now, its a good tank but theres definitely some things they could've done better. with the filter socks if you don't clean them every 2 days the water level in the sock compartment rises then the ato will go off and salinity goes down over time, also the silicone in the sump is a bit of a messy job. gotta love the dimensions of the tank tho and the dual manifold comes in handy.

Is this happening with mesh socks? And could you convert it to not use socks?

Ah, polished edges. I just ordered a sump with polished edges. Dude at the store was surprised that I wanted my sump polished but I am tired of slashing my hands and fingers on the glass. With the salt, you don't really know that your index finger is lacerated to the bone until you see it.

Why do all reail tanks have herbie style overflows?
@BRStv2 жыл бұрын
Herbie overflows are a great balance of form and function. Just two drain lines to plumb and super quiet with the primary line being a full siphon and the secondary having just a trickle of water flowing. This makes it very safe as the secondary drain has more capacity if something ever happens to the primary.

I used to adore waterbox, my first 4 foot was a waterbox. And I still have it running as planted tank today. Great quality tanks. However, for those of us who don't want a whole pre-built system, and want to budget a system out over time: waterbox are now a phenomenally bad choice, as they've all but stopped selling any stand-alone equipment. Want a 3rd party sump or a DIY option? Too bad, you're still buying their sump. Want to scrap the sump and plumb it into another system? To bad, you're still buying their sump. Want an aluminum or metal stand? Too bad, you're still buying their stand. Want to buy the tank now, because they're gorgeous; but you're a reefer that enjoys building a system yourself? To bad, it's now all or nothing. The requirement to buy the whole package and nothing but the whole package, is great for the company to scale. But it's a total and complete turn-off to a large segment of the hobby who'd rather tinker or have budgets which space-out purchases. Beautiful tanks, but a short sighted and confining buisness model. Good video though. My issue is with waterbox, not BRS.

The prices compared to the quality of there products is comical. Especially For the reasons you mentioned. The names about as dumb as their prices. I also wouldn't buy overpriced tires from a company called rubber circle..... like is that seriously what they came up with

Check with waterbox, as in uk the frag systems are now completely discontinued and only residual stock of 85.3 and 145.5 are available as they are not making anymore of them.

This is a display tank with a perfect depth and any tank can be a frag tank take out sand put in racks. The number system company's are using today really needs to stop, say it's volume and be done with it also I Really hope company's don't start engraving crap in the glass as this one does... It's enough to have it on the stand but then to permanently put it on the front of my tank??? I would never purchase a tank like that and I hope people push back with it.
@BRStv2 жыл бұрын
The number that Waterbox uses is the approx. total volume in gallons (Display + Sump + ATO reservoir). Hopefully that helps 🙂
