if you keep the feeder on the side you pull the tractor they will always be on that side in the morning when they see you and are waiting for feed, it will make it much easier to move.

That looks like an A7A cargo strap as a belt. It made me think you were in the Army, but I changed my mind when I saw that it wasn't routed through the floating metal bar of the buckle. Airborne!

you could make it out of pvc and keep the weight down. you also could cit the top in half so its not so heavy to lift

Meat birds live to eat so put your feeder at the opening end of the tractor. They will follow the food, so that and your wire idea should keep them from getting caught during a move. Just a thought. Best design for one of theses I have seen yet. God bless and stay safe.

I put a roosting pole 8 inches from the back of my tractor. I noticed it would keep them clear while moving. If u move it enough so they see fresh grass they tend to rush to the front then complete the move. 👍🇺🇸

Good looking tractor first I am not a farmer homesteader I'm gonna be a nomad I just bought a converted school bus but I watch a lot of the homesteaders after you Add all the chicken tractors I've seen Justin Roadhs his tractors all have wheels any reason to move his kids 10 years old are moving them without a problem. If you add a dowel rod with fringe attached gives you two benefits. 1. A roosting bar and 2. The fringe makes the birds move away from the bottom as it moves.

I was thinking while watching, that you could lay the lid brace on the ground at the head of the tractor before you start pulling it to new ground, then you wouldn't have to figure out how far to pull it -- especially when one person is driving a 4-wheeler. You'd just pull it 'til the backside of the tractor is even with the lid brace, then put the lid brace back on top when you unhook it from the 4-wheeler. Do your dogs stay outside at night to guard your animals? If not, then I'd put a spring-lock hook and eye on both ends of the top to keep predators from forcing the lid open. I never thought about goats. If I were you I would put a center beam across that metal seam that stays with the bottom half so when you lift the lid up it’s open but when the lid is closed it’s resting the center of the lid across the beam that goes all the way across the box structure. That would just give it a ton more strength and if a couple or three goats get up there, That might turn out to be a problem. :/ I would also put those eyebolts to hook the chain on to the corner or put some cross pieces to the back of those eyebolts from the bottom. That’s a bad point to pull from because it’s in the middle of the board and it will want to break and tear that up. If you put it on the outside corners that will put it on areas with lots of bracing and at a strong structural points. Also when you toilet use a spring or a flexible cord and that will help some. I would put wheels on one side in the back corner just lifting it maybe a half inch off the ground or less that way when you pull the front and the back will just roll. I would probably also put little pipes on the front and hope the tow pieces up to that and make it kind of like a little sled in the front with the two wheels in the back, it would only be half an inch off the ground but it would be really easy to slide that way Maybe put a sign on there that says no goats allowed 🤔

Nice explanation MARINE ! Try a large fish net to retrieve those tough chickens that run from you. I frame homes and it's called : " SUBTRACTING or FIGURING", FOR YOUR PLATES" for your STUD HEIGHTS .. THATS WHY AN 8' ROOM IS FIGURED OUT ALREADY ON STUDS PRECUT AT 92+5/8"....SEMPRE FI HOMESTEADER'. I have similar style, and what works to help glide, and also helps not run I g them over is using a decking g board on the botto m in the back straddling the 2x2 left to right. So when you lift it to move it slides on that. Usually has round fed edges, works good

Yes you need something to keep them from getting run over. I keep my wife in the back shooing them out of the way. I also have chicken wire in the back so she can see them. I through chicken scratch on the lawn they are going to be on so they want to move forward and look forward to getting on new grass. I like your channel and like what you and your wife have going on.

You can drill a hole in your door holder and put a duplex nail in the hole to pin your door holder to the lid so it don't fall. You can also put some lawnmower or wheelbarrow wheels on one end to make a built in dolly. Love the hose handle idea.

I like that design for raising meat birds, the wire or a 2x2 across the back a few inches off the ground to push them along when moving. It is good to be able to move them to fresh ground every day or 2. Doing things is always the best teacher of finding tricks and how to do it. Thank you for sharing.

Learned something new again today. I would try the wire, but don't put to much thought into my comment, I've not done this before, but looking forward to and YOURS is a different design that I've seen. I saw someone post about putting wood instead of wire and I like that idea. When you said wire and it would push them along all I saw in my head was the wire going through one of the chickens lol. Great job and that is one big chicken tractor.

When your Cornish cross hit about 5 weeks, they will begin to get so heavy that walking is difficult. We ended up picking the entire tractor off the ground and then putting wayward and the struggling birds back inside after moving. For the really heavy ones, the wire probably won’t encourage them to move. They will just squawk about your being on their foot.

Now that’s a great all around chicken tractor. I love the design of it and the fact there are numerous ways to move it. I like the four wheeler method, just get on it and go , save that energy for some other chore. That really is a nice chicken tractor.👍👍👍 I’m also glad that Kevin got some of the chicks, they have a really nice homestead and are good caretakers of their animals. Do meat chickens roost? Maybe a board [2x2] across the bottom, resting on the sides [2" high, well 1 1/2"], a foot off the back would do the trick. That board would be what? 3" off the ground at the top. I would think it would nudge them along, till they learn to run to the front. and if they like to roost they could set on it.

I think a 1x board would be safer than wire. I think wire they might get caught in easier. Why wire at all on top? Won't the goats bend that easier if they jump on it? I just thought it was for rain but shade. Those birds don't feather out much alot of bare skin on them. Looks really nice. God bless.

Get you 2 in PVC pipe take your table saw cut it in half put it on the ends where you going to have the chain and on the other end and it will slide along the grass better you put it under the bottom

Hey Dutch I just love the girls hair cut and Brandi and the girls are doing a great job vlogging. I spy with my little eye peek a boo bear and the meat chickens are growing so fast. You raised beds look good also if you can't eat all the broccoli freeze for later. I been watching the news about the meat storage and when I go food shopping I always buy a little extra because I may not be able to get it next week I thinking of my family. Also nothing go's to waste this is not the time to waste food I have gotten creative with leftovers and whatever is left over from the leftovers goes to the feral cat that's in our backyard plus the possum lol so whats next for KID keep up the good work and see you in the next video 🤔🐔🐖🐻😊😉
