I have juveniles that live in my flower garden and pop out now and then when it gets warm. I used to catch those things when I was a kid. They are actually tough as nails. Thinking about building my 120g tank into a paludarium and might keep some of these guys if I do. These are fire bellies.

I used to catch these all the time as a kid. Went camping this past summer with my 6yr old. Caught a ton and kept 4. Now it’s become a hobby lol. Such an amazing build. Definitely got a new subscriber from me, started my first aquarium aquascape. Can’t wait to get this good at a build of this caliber.

Why do you use the outtake on the side, couldn’t you do it on the bottom so get more water out? Or is it better on the side

@slitheringsalamanderscapes68872 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For that one I used a repti filter, but it wasn’t really effective. I ended up redoing that tank and now use Fluval 207

I live in Virginia and would love to have this exact setup for my newts.would you be willing to build and sell it to me? I don’t have a lot of spare time to do it.I did my own build but no where near this good
@slitheringsalamanderscapes6887 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. I would consider it, but this specific build took quite a bit of time (weeks) and is super heavy because I used real rocks. I haven’t sold them before, but I’ve been considering building custom enclosures to sell. I would need to figure out the cost, which given the time and materials would not be insignificant. What kind of newts are you going to house?
@sheaarnold-f3h Жыл бұрын

Hello, I am from Germany and I also get newts. I would like to build something like this, but unfortunately I can't find the white grids that are glued in from the first one. Can you tell me exactly what they are called?
@slitheringsalamanderscapes68877 ай бұрын
Sure. They are egg crate light ceiling panels. The brand is Plaskolite. In the US you can find panels for sale at home improvement places like Home Depot

I wanted to get newts, but none of the workers in the reptile/aquarium store knew much about them :/ Are they hard to care for? Do they need specific lighting and filters?
@slitheringsalamanderscapes6887Ай бұрын
All depends on what species you get. In general though, cooler clean water is key. LED lights are fine, and will usually grow lower light plant growth. Salamanders and newts need cooler temperatures and want to keep clear of high temps since most (not all) are from temperate climates
